| Chapter 5 Luke took one look at the Sunday paper and his temper hit the roof. �That Bitch!� He yelled scattering the Sunday paper all over the living room. �Luke, what�s wrong?� Laura asked coming down the spiral staircase wondering what set her husband off this time. �You remember that snoopy report that has been bugging this family for weeks?� Luke yelled starting to pick up the paper and balling it into a ball. �Yes, I remember her. What about her?� Laura asked. �That little bitch found some big mouth and they sung like a song bird!� Luke yelled. �Luke stop yelling and tell me what she wrote,� Laura demanded grabbing what was left of the paper from Luke and found the article he was talking about. Laura stood there shocked as she read. The article was about Luke and Bobbie and about their childhood. She went after Ruby with everything she could and by the time she was done. Ruby looked like a cold heartless woman that never loved anyone but herself. Laura knew better. They all knew better but the people that didn�t know Ruby wouldn�t know that and that hurt a lot. �Luke,� Laura said reaching out to her husband but Luke wasn�t in the mood to listen to her. He just stormed out of the house in rage. Laura shook her head and cleaned up the mess. ***************************************** Kelly�s was packed with people and most of them only had coffee. Lucky and BJ were working the morning shift. Neither teen bothered to read the paper or the might have head a clue what was going on. Ruby hadn�t come down yet and every now and then Lucky would catch one of the customers staring at the stairs. �What is going on?� Lucky whispered to BJ as he made another pot of coffee. �I don�t know but this is strange. Hardly any one is eating and all they are doing is sipping coffee. I spotted one talking into a recorder about something but when I walked over they shut up,� BJ said. �It has to be a reporter,� Lucky commented trying to figure out what was going on. When Ruby appeared on the stairs and all hell broke loose. People jumped to their feet all running towards Ruby and all talking at one time. �Tell us, Ms. Anderson what do you think about the story in this morning paper?� one yelled. Ruby stood there to stunned to speak. She had no idea what was going on. One report shoved a paper at her and she quickly read it. As she did so, Lucky shoved his way to Ruby�s side and yelled. �Ok, everyone out!� �Lucky!� Ruby said placing a hand on his shoulder. Lucky turned around to see a painful look on Ruby�s face. �Do you want to know what I think about this?� a report asked Ruby holding up a paper to Ruby. Ruby looked the paper over. She turned pail just a bit as she read the lies that were printed about she, Luke and Bobbie. �Any comment?� the reported asked Ruby. �I think the person who wrote this doesn�t have enough time on their hands. My past and my family�s past is no ones business,� Ruby said and she shoved her way down the stairs. When she got to the bottom she said, �Now, I you want something to eat. I�ll be glad to severe you but if you don�t. I suggest you leave. Other people would love to fill these tables.� Ruby then vanished into the kitchen. �What do you think?� One reported asked Lucky. �Get lost!� Lucky snapped and quickly ran after Ruby leaving poor BJ to deal with the reporters. *************************************** AJ walked into the living room that morning sing. �Why are you so happy?� Alan asked his son. �Read this mornings paper?� AJ said grinning. �Yes, we read it. How could this town have elected a man like that for mayor,� Edward yelled throwing the front page on the bar and getting some orange juice. �What does this have to do with you sing?� Alan asked eyeing AJ suspiciously. �I had a talk with the reporter that wrote this story. In fact, I�m the one that gave her all of her information,� AJ said smiling as he fixed himself breakfast. �Where did get all of this?� Alan asked grabbing the paper and waving it in front of AJ�s face. �Emily�s dairy. I coped the pages and turned them over the reporter. Lucky and her talk all the time. He told her everything that goes on with that family,� AJ said laughing as he purred himself a glass of OJ. Alan and Edward looked at AJ with dump found expression on their faces. �Does Emily you did this?� Alan asked looking around for his daughter. �No. I wouldn�t tell her. I took it from her room when she was gone,� AJ said giving his father and look that said, �What I�m not an idiot.� Edward shook his head and asked, �Why?� �Why not? Look what they did to my father?� AJ said his voice laced with anger. �AJ, I did that myself. What you did could set up fight that we can�t win,� Alan yelled looking at his son as if he lost his mind. �I don�t get it. I thought you would be happy? Look at all the trouble this is going to causes Mikkos!� AJ yelled. �What if Mikkos finds out that you were behind this? What do you think he is going to do to you and us?� Edward demanded worrying that Mikkos might try to take over ELQ. �He won�t. We are the only ones that know about this and we aren�t going to talk,� AJ said and he left through the French doors. If he had gone out the other way, he would have seen Emily standing near the door crying. She had heard every word they had said. ************************************* Mikkos arrived at the dinner just as BJ shoved the last reporter out the door. The report shoved a mike in Mikkos face and asked, �Mr. Cassadine do you have a comment about this morning paper?� Mikkos shot a man a look that normal sent the staff running for the hills. The report gulped a bit and backed up a good five feet. �Ah, Never mind!� the man said fingering now was a good of time as any to vanish. �Where were you ten minutes ago?� BJ asked giggling as Mikkos entered the diner. �The launch was late,� Mikkos said looking around the room. �Where�s Ruby?� �In the kitchen,� BJ said as she blotted and locked the door. This morning was a bust and she didn�t see any need to keep the doors open not with a story like that on the front page for the entire town to read. Mikkos walked into the kitchen to find Ruby standing at the sink slamming pans around. Lucky stayed back in the corner of the kitchen and when the teen saw his grandfather. He just smiled and left the kitchen leaving Mikkos with Ruby. Lucky figured he might have better luck cooling her off then he had at this moment. �Ruby?� Mikkos said walking up to him. �Go away!� Ruby snapped slamming a pan hard in the stainless steel sink. Mikkos leaned against the sink and smiling at Ruby. �Well, I see you are taking this well.� �God!� Ruby screamed throwing a towel and Mikkos and turning on him. �If Luke thinks he isn�t your son he should be here now,� Ruby yelled looking at Mikkos like she wanted to kill him. �Do you know what that paper said?� Ruby demanded. �Yes, I read it and Victor is trying to track down how this story got out. We will fix it,� Mikkos promised her resting a loving hand on Ruby�s shoulder. �Fix it? Mikkos this isn�t a car? You can�t fix it! That report made me sound like the worse mother on this planet. Hell, according to her I should be burnt at a stake!� Ruby yelled. �That right belongs to Helena,� Mikkos said smiling. Ruby hit him. �It isn�t funny,� Ruby said and she started to cry. Mikkos pulled Ruby towards him and said, �Sweet heart. I�ll take care of it. In a few days everyone will have forgotten all out this story. I promise.� �What you going to buy the entire town?� Ruby demanded brushing tears off her cheeks. �Not a bad idea!� Mikkos said smiling. Ruby shook her head then laid it against him. �It will be ok.� Mikkos promised her. He didn�t know how it would be ok but he knew he would find a way to make all of this go away. ************************************* Tony and Felicia were having breakfast. Tony read the article to Felicia as they ate. When he was done she commented, �This might help your case. Now the entire town knows of Bobbie�s back ground,� Felicia said. �Yeah, it might,� Tony said hating the thought of using Bobbie�s past against her but it might be his only hope to getting his kids back. He was willing to do anything to get them back even if it meant throwing mud at Bobbie. �It will,� Felicia said hugging Tony. She too was having trouble with hurting Bobbie but she knew what it met for Tony to get his kids back and for him Felicia was willing to do anything. Even it was hurt her once best friend. ****************************************** Lucky, BJ, Emily, and Josh were all on the back docks of Spoon Island enjoying the afternoon. Emily hadn�t said much since Lucky picked her up. Lucky looked at Emily and asked, �How things going at home?� �Ok,� Emily said not looking at Lucky as she picked a flower a part that had been trying to grow in-between the slats of the wooden dock. �Ok, then what do you have against flowers?� Lucky asked looking how Emily dismantled the poor thing. �What?� Emily said looking down at the flower and suddenly feeling very dumb. She pulled her legs closer to her and buried her head in her knees. Lucky moved close beside Emily and wrapped his arms around him. �Em, I know you. I know when something is bugging you. Now out with it!� Lucky commanded. �Tell me what is going on?� Emily started to cry. Lucky, Josh, and BJ all moved close to the girl everyone trying to comfort her. �Emily?� BJ said looking at her friend with compassion. �What�s wrong?� Emily couldn�t find a way to tell Lucky why she was crying. All she could do was sit there and cry. The more she tried to talk the faster the tears came. Nikolas, Zander, Gia, and Robin pulled up beside the docks right then in Lucky�s boat. �Hey? What�s wrong?� Zander asked seeing Emily was crying. �I don�t know,� Lucky said feeling very helpless at this moment. He knew something was wrong with Emily but he had no idea what to do about it unless she talked to him. Nikolas tied up the boat and the girls went to Emily�s side. Everyone was trying to get her to talk but she still couldn�t get the words out. Suddenly Victor showed up with several papers gripped tightly in his hand. �LUCKY!� Victor yelled. Lucky looked up wondering what he had done now. �What?� Lucky asked as he tried to think of the things he done since he been free to leave the penthouse not coming up with one thing wrong or that he knew off. �What�s this?� Victor yelled and he threw the papers at Lucky. Lucky grabbed the papers and looked them over. He gulped and then looked down at Emily. Who was looking at him with tears stained eyes. �AJ stole my journal.� Emily finally said. Lucky nodded his head and placed a loving hand on her shoulder. He then turned to face Victor. �I guess AJ found out what Emily was writing and handed it over to the report,� Lucky said handing the papers back to Victor. Victor didn�t take this news to well. After what he read in the journal, he knew Lucky didn�t leave anything out about this family and this report was going to print more stories on this family and this couldn�t happen. Not while he was in charge of protecting the family name. �YOU GUESS! Lucky, why in hell did you tell her anything?� Victor yelled at the teen. Lucky felt like he had been hit the gut. �Why?� Lucky said looking at Victor like he never met him before this day. �Because, I needed someone that knew what it felt like being around a bunch of loonies. Emily is the only person in this crazy world that I can trust. It isn�t her fault or mine that AJ can�t keep his noise out of Emily�s room!� Lucky snapped. �Lucky, you are a idiot. When in hell are you going to start using that brain of yours? Telling anyone about anything that goes on in this family is wrong and you know it!� Victor yelled. Lucky glared at Victor and stormed towards the boats. �Then I don't want to be apart of this family!� Lucky yelled jumping into Victor�s cigarette boat and pulling the rope free. Before anyone could stop him Lucky hit the engine and sent the boat speeding across the water at full power. �LUCKY!� Nikolas yelled after his brother. He cursed in frustration and turned to look at Victor. �You are an ass hole,� Nikolas snapped and jumped in Lucky�s boat pulling the rope free. �I�m coming with you,� Zander said just before Nikolas took off after Lucky. Victor stood on the docks surrounded by a bunch of out raged teens. Robin asked, �You really know how to make things worse don�t you?� Victor didn�t commented. He went back to the house to see if he could find away to track down Lucky, before he hurt himself or someone else. ********************************* Zander and Nikolas raced behind Lucky but they had no real hope in catching Lucky at least not at the speed he was going. �He isn�t slowing down,� Zander yelled. Nikolas nodded his head trying to figure out a way to catch Lucky. Lucky speedboat was fast but Victors was a racing boat. It was built for speeds like this one was starting to rattle and Nikolas knew he couldn�t keep it up forever the way the boat was reacting. Suddenly Zander eyes bugged out and he pointed up head. �The bowie! I don�t think Lucky can see it,� Zander yelled. Nikolas realized this and yelled just as the boat with Lucky on board hit the bowie! The boat flipped sending Lucky flying in the air. He hit the water hard headfirst. The boat missed him by inches crashing a few feet away braking a part and bursting in flames. �LUCKY!� Nikolas yelled sending the boat racing to the spot where Lucky vanished. The moment Nikolas pulled the boat to a stop he ran to the side of it trying hard to see Lucky. �Where is he?� Nikolas yelled. �The waters to dark,� Zander said. Nikolas pulled off his shoes and socks. �Call for help and pull this boat back the flames are really out of control,� Nikolas said as he got ready to jump in. �Got it!� Zander said as he watched Nikolas dive into the dark warm water quickly vanishing from sight. Nikolas dove deep and deeper into the water reaching out in vain for a part of Lucky�s clothing to grab on to. Nikolas lungs were burning and they demanded air. Nikolas refused to give in. He needed to get Lucky and he knew he needed to get to him fast. Suddenly Nikolas arm brushed against something. He reached out and grabbed it. As Nikolas pulled the object to him, he realized that it was Lucky. Nikolas quickly started up wards pulling Lucky with him. As the pair broke the water, the heat from the fire stole the rest of the air from Nikolas lungs. He looked over and saw the boat a full a blaze and he knew even before Zander yelled it that the gas tanks were about to blow. Nikolas swam towards the boat and the moment he pulled himself and Lucky up onto it deck he yelled. �Get moving!� Zander did just that and the moment the boat was way the other burning boat blew up! Sending flames and parts of the craft through the air. �How is he?� Zander asked the moment they were clear. �He isn�t breathing,� Nikolas said suddenly realizing he had no idea how to save his brother. �Take over,� Zander commanded when he didn�t see Nikolas move to help Lucky. Nikolas obeyed and Zander rushed to Lucky�s side. Zander checked for a pulse and found none. He then lifted Lucky�s head back cleared an air way and took a deep breath and breathed deeply shoving air in Lucky�s lungs. It wasn�t until Zander pushed on Lucky�s chest that he knew party how bad Lucky was hurt. He felt several ribs move as he did compressions. �Shit!� Zander snapped cutting the compressions short. �What?� Nikolas asked turning a bit to look at Zander. �He has broken ribs. I can�t push to hard,� Zander said trying to remember what his mother told him to do if someone�s ribs were broken but at this moment he couldn�t really think clearly about it. Nikolas groaned and turned his head back to where he was headed. They were still far out from the docks. He heard the coast guard cutter behind him but he wasn�t going to stop. He had to get Lucky to the main land and help! �Just move this thing,� Zander told Nikolas as he went back to work on Lucky. The next few breaths into Lucky�s lungs got the reaction Zander wanted and prayed for. Lucky started to cough and chock. Zander rolled Lucky on his side and said, �That�s it. Get that crap out!� As Lucky�s breathing started to come back, Zander looked down to see a big red spot on the deck. �Shit!� Zander said checking out where Lucky was bleeding from and noticed this nasty gash on the back of Lucky�s head. �What?� Nikolas asked turning his head to look. �How far are we?� Zander asked. �Not long. I see the ambulance,� Nikolas said. �Floor it!� Zander ordered as he laid Lucky back down shoving one of the towels against Lucky�s head to stop the bleeding. Nikolas wanted to say that it was floored but then he realized that Lucky had to be really hurt for Zander to say it that way. So, Nikolas tried to get more power from the already strained engine. Soon though the boat pulled up beside the dock, and the medics with Anna close behind climbed down towards the boat. Zander looked at the medics and said, �His pulse is weak. His breathing is shallow and I had to do CPR to get him breathing again. He had stop breathing for at least five minutes. He has several broken ribs. I think his leg might be broken and he has a nasty gash on the back of the head that is bleeding. He hasn�t showed a sign of waking up.� �You ok?� Anna asked as she joined the boys on the boat as the medics took a look at Lucky. �We are but he isn�t,� Zander said pointing to Lucky brushing the blood that was on his hands on his shirt. �What happened?� Anna demanded. She saw the coast guard cutter coming up behind them and figured it might be a good idea to get the story from Nikolas and Zander before any one else did. Zander looked at Nikolas and let Nikolas tell the story. When Nikolas was done Anna shook her head and said, �Victor you are a moron!� �I agree,� Zander said. He loved his stepfather but sometimes he was a pain in the ass. Everyone knew that Lucky told Emily everything. It wasn�t that big of a deal that he told her. The only problem was AJ had to be a jerk and still Emily�s journal. Zander blamed him for all of this. �What�s going on?� the captain of the cutter demanded as it pulled along side the small craft. Anna turned to address the caption as the medic prepared to move Lucky onto the docks. �Can you two help us?� the medics asked Nikolas and Zander. �Sure,� the boys said and they helped move Lucky on to the docks.
