| Chapter 47 The night before the family left for the castle in the country. Stefan was sitting a lone in the den. He had a very bad feeling about where they were going. He wished he could have talked his father into allowing them in staying in St. Petersburg but Mikkos wanted to get married in the family home. Nothing and no one were talking him out of it. It didn�t matter that most of the family ever lived in that place ended up dead. Stefan normally wasn�t superstitious person but he knew too much family history not to take in account a few factors. These factors were that not many members of this family lived past a certain age. A lot of them died very young, and in fact Luke, Mikkos and Victor are the oldest Cassadines on record. He was close to it but he wasn�t ready to test fate. He liked his life and that was the problem. Why did he get this feeling they were heading into trouble by going to this castle? Alexis couldn�t sleep that night either. She was walking into the den to a book to read when she realized that Stefan was up. �Can�t sleep?� she asked as she walked up to the chair across from Stefan and sat down. �Yes,� Stefan said smiling at his sister. Alexis tilted her head a bit and looked right into Stefan�s eyes. She could tell by just looking at him that something was bothering Stefan. He had that look in his eye that he got when he was a child. It was a look that told Alexis that something was bothering Stefan. �What�s wrong?� she asked. Stefan smiled at her and said, �I can�t hide anything from you.� �No, you might as well tell me because I�m not going anywhere until you do!� Alexis admitted with a knowing smile on her face. Stefan knew she met it. He just didn�t know if he should tell her or not. He could try to lie to her but then again Alexis was good at picking out his lies. She might the only person that he couldn�t really lie to in this world. So, Stefan decided to tell her. �I�m worried that we are walking into trouble that not even Uncle Victor can handle.� �What kind of trouble?� Alexis asked wondering what kind of trouble that could be. Victor had been taking care of them for so long now that she was used to not worrying about things. �Alexis, you know about the curse as much as I do. You can�t tell me you haven�t thought about it,� Stefan said looking at his sister intently. Alexis nodded as he said this and realized what kind of trouble he was talking about. �I have thought about it but I don�t really by into a curse on this family.� �What about Nikka and Nakita?� Stefan asked Alexis. �Them I have thought about. Does Luke know about them?� Alexis asked. �No. Not many of us do because father has made sure that no sign of them will be seen on this trip,� Stefan said coldly. �How is father planning on keeping saying anything. They are most well know ghost in that area,� Alexis said. She didn�t believe in ghost but she didn�t count them out either. It wasn�t a good idea to joke at something that you might deal with later on down the road. �I don�t know. I keep asking him that and he tells me to drop it. Sooner or later it is going to come out that alone bothers me,� Stefan admitted. �But that isn�t all of it is it?� Alexis asked Stefan. �No, it isn�t. This family doesn�t live long lives especially in that castle. Father acts like he doesn�t even care about this fact. What if the curse is real and what if we are pushing are luck in this matter?� Stefan replied. Alexis thought about this. She knew the curse as well as any of them did. She knew that most of this family died before they hit fifty after the curse. They didn�t die nice deaths at least a big chunk of them didn�t. �You got a point,� Alexis admitted finally. �But father isn�t going to change his mind. We are going there tomorrow curse or no curse!� �I know,� Stefan said and that was the problem. Spite he felt or he thought about this matter. They were going and there was nothing he could do about it. Alexis nodded her head at this as stood up. She kissed her bother good night took her book and left Stefan�s to his thoughts. She didn�t know if she believed in the curse or not but she was planning on keeping a close eye on her daughter just in case! Chapter 48 Back to Trials of Love |
