| Chapter 45 Victor woke up earlier then any of the other members of the family. He did this every morning because it was his job to protect them. Protecting them not only meant from physical harm but any harm. The press could cause harm at least in Victor�s eyes. So, he woke up early to read all the morning papers that were delivered at the house. He cut out every story that dealt with the family that Victor thought shouldn�t be read. His only trouble was with this plan was Emily. Emily had a big mouth or that is how he saw things. Emily told Lucky everything she read in the paper about the family and in return Lucky told the others. So, far the information that Victor wanted to keep away from the family managed to get back to them anyway. Victor was reading the last of the morning papers when Mikkos walked into the room. �What not giving up yet?� Mikkos asked his brother as he sat down beside him at the table. Victor just glared at his brother and said, �I thought it was my job to protect everyone?� �It is but I think you are going over board by cutting out this articles. What changes now that we are in Russia? Everyone here knows the press love to change things around,� Mikkos said with a smile on his face as the maid poured himself a cup of coffee. Victor didn�t comment. He just got up gathered the articles that he cut out and left the room. Mikkos didn�t bother to ask what was in them He would read them later on his way to on his meetings that morning. He had his driver pick up a full paper every morning for him. Victor had offered showing him what was cut out but Mikkos loved to read the entire paper not sections of it. His brothers over protectiveness destroyed all that for him. Alex walked into the room about then. She looked at the paper with holes in it and sighed. �Victor stuck again,� Alex said as she sat down at the table. �Afraid so,� Mikkos said with a smile on his face. �How are you this morning?� �Rested finally,� Alex said. �Do you need me at all this morning?� Alex asked him hoping that he didn�t. �No, not this morning,� Mikkos said leaning over and kissing his sister in-law. �Good. I�m going to get pampered today at one of the local spas in town with Carly and maybe Bobbie,� Alex said smiling just thinking about it. �Good, you will be well rested for this evening,� Mikkos said grinning. �What is going on this evening?� Alex asked dreading to know. �The Russian Ballet.� �This should be good,� Alex said grinning just thinking of Mikkos forcing Luke and Lucky to sit through a ballet. The others arrived about then and everyone was talking about what was going on that day. Everyone but Luke! Alex looked over at Luke noticing that he didn�t look to good. She was worried about him. She was hoping he wasn�t coming down with anything because if he was then it would be a matter of time before the others caught it as well. �Luke you feeling all right?� Alex asked. �Fine,� Luke snapped. �Ignore him, he is in a bad mood,� Laura said. She was debating in telling Alex the truth because one more night like she spent last night and she was going to kill Luke. He couldn�t sleep because of his headache. So, he spent the entire night pacing the floor. �You better cheer up. You�re going to a museum today,� Mikkos informed Luke. �Not this morning,� Luke said. �I�m going back to bed.� Luke got up and headed out of the room without saying a word. Alex knew then that something was wrong then. She looked at Laura and asked, �What is wrong with him?� Laura sighed and said, �He has had a killer headache since we landed the plane.� �Still has it?� Lucky said wondering if there was something wrong with his father. �What do you mean still? How long have you known about this?� Bobbie asked her nephew. She knew her brother very well and he loved to hide his pain. If it was just showing now, Bobbie wondered how long he had had it. �Since the day after Lu won her event,� Lucky said wondering if that he should tell Alex and his aunt that he had give his father his headache medicine. Mikkos looked over at Alex and suggested. �I think it will better if you check Luke over before you got to the spa.� �I will,� Alex said getting up and heading towards Luke and Laura�s room. She didn�t care what Luke thought at this moment. If had a headache for this long something had to be wrong with him. Alex found Luke laying across the bed with a pillow over his head. Luke popped one eye out from under the pillow and groaned. �My wife had a big mouth!� �She is worried about you and so am I. Sit up,� Alex ordered as he placed her black bag on the night table. Luke did what she asked and glared at Alex. �Now what?� Alex took out a blood pressure cup and took Luke�s blood pressure. �What have been taking?� Luke thought about lying to her but he changed his mind. He had feeling that she would find out sooner or later. �Lucky gave me some of his medicine,� Luke admitted. �Thought so. You ran out?� she asked. �Yes.� �Did it help?� �It made it livable,� Luke admitted. �But didn�t get rid of it?� �No.� Alex didn�t like how high Luke�s blood pressure was. She didn�t like how his heart was racing. Alex took out her penlight and looked into Luke�s eyes. It took her awhile because Luke didn�t like the idea of having a light shinning into his face. �Luke, I don�t like this. I like any of this. I know Mikkos medical history and you have the same signs at least medical. Are you willing to go the hospital with me to get check out?� �I�m staying over night. If comes to that. I�m back home,� Luke told her. Aright now, he didn�t care if she cut off his head. All he wanted was the pain to go away. �Ok,� Alex said as she put her things away. �You stay here and rest. I�m going to make some calls.� Luke didn�t fight her. He just laid back down and put the pillow back over his head. Alex found the family in the breakfast room waiting for them. Laura got a little worried at the look on Alex�s face. �How is he?� Mikkos asked gripping Ruby�s hand. �I�m taking him to the hospital to get test run. If you want keep this quiet then you better start working now,� Alex told Mikkos. �What�s wrong?� Lucky asked. �The same as Mikkos,� Ruby said knowing in her heart that was what was wrong with Luke. �I think so,� Alex said. Everyone knew what happened to Mikkos. They knew that not only did he almost go crazy because of it but also he almost lost his life. �Dad�s not going to start�� Lucky started to ask but stopped. �I don�t think so,� Alex said walking towards Lucky. She kneeled down beside him and gripped the young boy�s hand. �Lucky, Mikkos was sick for a long time. He let it go for to long beside where the tumor was caused a lot of troubles. Luke doesn�t have those signs at least not at the moment. If it is what I think it is then I think medicine can treat it.� �So, he will not go crazy on me?� Lucky asked. �No, he will not go crazy on you,� Alex said hugging the teen. Mikkos cleared his throat and said, �I�ll have Victor take care of the details. I don�t care if the press gets wind of this. All I want is for you take of Luke.� �I will,� Alex said and she got up to leave. Lucky had a problem. He wanted be with his father but he knew he that one of them had to be at the museum. Mikkos had a meeting this day and his father was going to the hospital. Lucky saw his mother looking at him and he said, �Go with dad but call me the moment you know something.� �I will,� Laura promised as she kissed her son then rushed be with her husband. Lu looked up at Lucky and asked, �Daddy going to be ok?� �Yeah, this isn�t going to stop dad,� Lucky said hugging his sister. He hoped it wouldn�t! *********************************************** Bobbie was helping Alex run the tests on Luke. This left Ruby and Laura to walk to halls of the hospital waiting on news on Luke. �I feel like I�m waiting for a verdict.� Laura said as she walked. �I remember it feels a life time ago,� Ruby admitted. �It wasn�t for me. It feels like yesterday. What is worse I saw that same look in Lucky�s eyes at breakfast this morning. He still fears loosing his father,� Laura admitted sadly. �He won�t. Luke is a fighter. He will make it,� Ruby said hoping against hope that it was true. �What if it isn�t? Prison for life, I could see him but death is final,� Laura said. �Laura, you are getting head of yourself. Let�s wait until Alex tells us how bad it is,� Ruby said patting Laura on the shoulder. Laura nodded and tired very hard to cover her feelings for what was going on around her. ************************************** Lucky did the speech that Mikkos wrote for him and with Lu�s help they cut the ribbon that opened the exhibit in the museum that represented the Cassadine family. The Director of the museum walked head of the guest, the family and the press talking about everything that was on display. When he got to the Egg collection Lucky had to laugh when the guy said that sadly that some of the Eggs were damaged when the family escaped Russia. �Yeah right,� Nikolas said whispering in Lucky�s ear. �Shut up it is good lie,� Lucky muttered grinning jabbing his brother in the ribs. No one noticed them and the group moved on. They looked paintings, jewelry and other items that once belonged to the members of Lucky�s twisted family. The director even talked about some of their past. Lucky had to admit the guy had memorized a big chunk of what Stefan had found out about all of them. When the Director was done talking the press asked questions. �Lucky, what do you think about your ancestors?� �I think they were nuts,� Lucky admitted. The people around him laughed and then one person asked, �You don�t approve of what they have done?� �No, I don�t approve of what they have done. If anyone believes that I�m like them they don�t know me. They don�t know me at all!� Lucky walked away then taking Lu by the hand and showing her the nicer members of the family. What there was of them! Lu wondered off with Lucas, Robin and Gia. Leaving Nikolas, Lucky and Zander to look around a bit more at the collection. Lucky stopped in front of a painting that he hadn�t seen before. �I wonder who she is?� Zander looked at Nikolas for a moment and asked, �You want to tell him or shall I?� �Tell me what?� Lucky asked. He hated when they did this to him. It was a pain when Zander and Nikolas knew something about this family when he didn�t. They loved rubbing it in. Nikolas gave Zander on of his best smiles and said, �Well, I guess you will find out about this soon enough. This Lucky is the woman that put the curse on this family.� �What curse?� Lucky asked thinking Nikolas and Zander were pulling his leg. �Well, according to family legend. One of the crown princes lusted after this married woman. She wouldn�t have anything to do with him. One day this woman�s husband died in a hunting accident with the prince. Not long after that, this woman married the Prince. Some say she was forced into marrying the prince. Well, the day of the Prince�s first born son�s baptism. The woman hung herself in the castles chapel but before she did it. She wrote down a curse. It said that no Cassadine would live a long hand happy life. The each generation will face some kind of tragic death. So, far she has been right. So, far not one of us have happy lives.� �In fact, I hear that the castle we are going to live at over the summer is hunted not only by her ghost but the ghost of our other dead relatives,� Zander said giggling. �Yeah, I bet,� Lucky said not buying a word that either one of them said.
