| Chapter 40 Lucky was fast asleep the next morning. At least he was until Lu ran into the room to wake him up. Get up! Lu yelled as she jumped on Luckys bed. We leave in about an hour! Leave for where? Lucky asked in a sleepy voice. I jump today! Lu said hurt that Lucky forgot. You mean, Foster jumps today, Lucky said grinning as he sat up. Lu gave him a cold look as she left the room. Lucky stretched and looked over at Josh who was fighting to get out of bed himself. Morning. Have fun? Josh asked Lucky. Not as much as you did, Lucky said with a grin on his face as he looked at his best friends bare chest. What is that suppose to mean? Josh asked. Go look in the mirror, Lucky said with a grin on his face as he climbed out of bed. Josh got up and went into the bathroom. Ill kill her! he said as he saw the big red blotch on his chest. Well at least Stefan cant see it, Lucky said laughing and he opened the closet to find something to ware. Good point! He would ship me home in a crate, Josh said planning on having a talk with BJ about her hickeys. The boys got dressed with Josh making sure he wore something that covered up BJs little gift. Morning, Lucky said looking over the breakfast cart. Morning, Laura said smiling at her son. We have to leave! Lu said looking at her watch. You have plenty of time, Luke said laughing at his daughter. She wasnt this bad at Christmas. I want be there first! Lu said looking hurt that everyone was as excited about this as she was. First isnt the point here, Mikkos said hugging his granddaughter. It is how you show! I know, Lu said sadly. We will leave as soon as Lucky and Josh eat something, Laura told her daughter. Lu looked at Lucky and grinned. Lucky made one of his special Spencer on the go breakfast. Josh copied Lucky and soon the group was ready to go. ************************ Lucky went with Lu down to the stables. Their parents and Mikkos offered to go with her but she wanted Lucky. At the stables, Lu went off with her couch to finish getting dressed and Lucky stood in front of Fosters stall. It was strange but this Foster came into their life the night Foster left them. Foster hadnt been feeling that good and Lucky took him to see the vet just weeks before Christmas. The vet had told Lucky that Foster was dying and there was nothing he could do about it. He had offered to put Foster down but Lucky couldnt do that to his best friend. As long as Foster wasnt in pain, Lucky was going to make his last days on earth the best they could be. Lucky took Foster home and stayed by him. He never once left his side. He hadnt at least until Christmas Eve. He got talked into going to the island for Christmas with the family. Lucky really didnt want to go but he went anyway. Things were going great until Mrs. Carlson called and said Foster was getting bad. Lucky rushed home and found his friend slowly dying on him. Lucky sat there and held Foster until the very end. Foster died just before midnight in Luckys arms. Lu walked over to her brother and found him staring at Foster with a lost look on his face. Whats wrong? Lu asked looking up at Lucky. Ah? Lucky said barley hearing Lus voice. Where were you? Lu asked as she petted Fosters nose. Lucky smiled at his sister and said, I was thinking about my Foster. I miss him sometimes. I miss him too. He was a great friend when I didnt feel good, Lu said smiling at her brother. Yeah, he was, wasnt he, Lucky said smiling as he hugged Lu. Lu sat on top of Fosters back with Lucky beside her as her couch guided the horse out of the stalls and towards the field. Lucky smiled at his sister and said, Remember no one is better then you no matter what happens, Lucky told her. I know. Spencers never let anyone know they are getting to them, Lu said grinning. Thats right, Lucky said patting his sister leg. ******************************** Laura buried her head in Lukes shoulder as she said, I cant watch! Luke smiled and patted Lauras shoulder. He had butterflies as well thinking of his little girl on a horse ten times her size. Luke couldnt help but think about all the things that could go wrong in her jumps. Lu came out right then road Foster in front of the judges so they could judge her ridding talents. She then did simple moves with her knees then moved on to the jumps. Lu and Foster went over the jumps with ease. She didnt attempt the last three jumps but that was ok. She didnt have to try them. She wasnt going to get counted for jumps that she didnt do. It was the ones that she did do that the judges looked at. Lu was smiling brightly as she road Foster off the field. She leaped into her brothers arms the moment she was out of sight of the judges. I did it! Lu yelled smiling from ear to ear. You sure did, Lucky said picking his sister up in the air and swinging her around. The others came running right then and everyone took turns congratulating Lu. Luke and Laura stood by their daughter as the scores were read. Lu had an almost perfect score. They are blind, Luke snapped. That was perfect! Daddy! Lu said smiling. Your bayous. Well, it was, Luke said grinning. ***************************** The morning Lu was winning her first competition. Emily woke up early to go shopping with some friends to get ready for her trip. She walked into the kitchen that morning to find her parents already at the table. Morning, Emily said kissing both her parents on the cheek. Good morning, Alan said smiling as he handed the paper to Emily. Looks like Lucky made the papers! Emily took the paper and read the headline, Russia Crown Prince Greeted by England's Royal family for the first time years! The story went on to tell about the Cassadine family and its rich history. It told how Mikkos father escaped when Communist Russia first took over and how this was the first time any Royal family actually excepted any of the old Russia families in public. I dont believe it. I wonder what Mikkos said to Lucky to get him to do this? I dont know but it has to be big, Monica said smiling as she sipped her coffee. Emily put the paper down figuring that Lucky would tell her the story when he called her later tonight. So, how things going at the hospital? Not bad minus the emails that I get from Carly, Alan said laughing a bit. What about? Monica asked. Oh, she has a spy on the hospital board and it seems father is trying to call a meeting with her gone, Alan said grinning. He isnt trying to get back on the board? Monica asked. He is. He called me and tired to talk me into calling a meeting. What did you say? Emily asked taking a sip of her juice. I told him that I wouldnt do it. Im not going to play his games any more, Alan said feeling relived that he left that house. He loved his mother and would visit her often but he cant stand his fathers games. He was going to leave all of that behind him. He was going to work on his life with Monica and Emily. Good, Emily said grinning. ************************************* Speaking of the mansion and the rest of the Quartermaines! That morning was a normal day at the house. Edward was having a fit about a deal Tracy was making. He was threatening to take the company way from her. She told him to go right head and do it! She did point out that he had no one else to run it. Oh, he could give it to Max! Then again Max could easy try to double cross him like Skye had tired to do. I wouldnt dream of it, Max said as he walked into the living room right after Tracy was done talking. Max was working at the company as well. Edward figured that putting both of them together would keep the other from taking over the company. The trouble is he didnt count on them getting along. They hadnt showed any signs that it was happening outwardly but he heard it was happening from a few loyal company people. I bet you wont, Tracy said smiling coldly at Max. Can we change the subject? Lila asked. Yes, lets, Ned said. He was wishing he would have skipped breakfast at the house this morning like Lois and Brooklyn had. It would have been a lot nicer. The more he came around the more he realized that Alan and Monica had the right idea about staying away. You stay out of this. This is about company business something you know nothing about, Edward snapped at Ned. Ned sighed in frustration and said as he stood up to leave, Your right. I am staying out of it. Ned walked to his grandmother and kissed her on the cheek. Have a good day! You too, Lila said sadly as Ned left the room. I have to go check on Dylan before I leave, Tracy said with a smile as she kissed her mother politely on the cheek before leaving. I better be going as well, Max said getting up and leaving. Edward was the only one left in the room. Lila wheeled closer to him and said, If Ned walks away taking Brooklyn and Lois with him. Get used to the West Wing! Lila, Edward called out after his wife as she wheeled out of the room. Lila didnt stop once. She meant what she said. She was sick of Edward running off the people she loved. She wasnt going to loose another one. Chapter 41 Back to Trials of Love |
