| Chapter 30 Luke arrived minutes after Damion, Sam and Alice left in the van. He walked around an empty dirt lot trying to read the tracking device. It said he was in the right spot but it had to be wrong because Lucky wasn�t anywhere. Suddenly Luke�s cell phone rang again and he answered it. �Dad!� Lucky yelled close to panicking. He was getting air out of the tank but from the light on his watch it read half full. Lucky didn�t think he had much air left. While he was fighting trying to figure a way out. He had realized that he his phone on him. That was when he decided to call his father. �Lucky, where are you?� Luke asked. �They buried me alive,� Lucky yelled. �They what?� Luke said looking down at the ground and realizing that he was standing on top of Lucky. �They buried me,� Lucky cried. �I�m coming,� Luke said holding the tracking device and walking to the point where the beeping was the loudest. He then got to his knees and started to dig with one hand. �I�m going to get you out.� Luke promised. �Please hurry,� Lucky said looking around in the dark coffin. He didn�t want to end up like this. He didn�t want to end up being buried in the middle of nowhere. **************************** Luke was digging franticly when he heard sirens coming in his direction. Luke looked down the road and saw police cars and Mikkos� limo heading in his direction. For the first time in Luke�s life, he was happy to see Mikkos Cassadine. Luke put the phone to his ear and said, �Cowboy, Mikkos is coming.� �He have a shovel?� Lucky asked trying to sound happy. �No, but he has the Calvary,� Luke said smiling. �They�ll do,� Lucky said. He looked around his dark prison and wished that Damion gave him a light. Even with the air he found it hard to breathe and it was starting to get very hot. He didn�t know how much longer he could take being locked up like this. Up on the earth, Mikkos jumped out of his car and ran towards Luke. �Where is he?� Mikkos demanded. �They buried him alive,� Luke said pointing down towards the ground. Mikkos cursed turned to towards the men that he brought with him and yelled, �Get digging. I want my grandson out of there. Now!� Luke moved back and the men quickly ran into place all of them digging as if their lives on the line and in away they were. They worked for Mikkos long enough to know what he was like when things went wrong for him. �Who is on the line?� Mikkos asked pointing to Luke�s phone. �Lucky,� Luke said as he handed the phone over to Mikkos. �But don�t get him talking to much. He might run out of air.� Mikkos nodded as he took the phone and said, �Lucky?� �Hi,� Lucky said glad to hear his grandfather�s voice. �You ok?� Mikkos asked. �Yeah, I�m not hurt but it is hot. Get me out!� Lucky begged. �We are coming,� Mikkos promised and then he handed the phone back over to Luke. Both men stood there watching then as the men started to dig in the spot Luke was hoping lead to Lucky. **************************** Damion was driving the van now. Alice in the back and Sam was in the front seat. They were all happy what they just done. �What now?� Alice asked. �We send Mikkos our ransom note,� Damion said smiling. Sam was watching the sky and behind them. Something was wrong but he didn�t know what until he heard sirens coming at that them but what turned his blood cold was the helicopter that suddenly appeared in front of them. �Damn it, they know,� Sam yelled and he tried to pull the van out of the direction of the helicopter. Damion didn�t know the danger and fought Sam for control over the wheel. �What in hell are you doing?� Damion yelled. �That�s Victor! He will not turn,� Sam yelled and he pulled the wheel hard. Too hard! The van flipped over sending all occupants inside the van flying. The van flipped over and over again. Victor hovered near by watching with smile on his face as one by one the group fell out of the van. The cops were quickly on them. Victor figured he could get them later. So, he headed off to see what he could do about saving Lucky. Victor did make a mental note that one passengers of the van was Sam! ************************** Stefan arrived with Jason right before Victor landed. They were at the hospital when the call came in about Lucky�s kidnapping. They found the location where Lucky had been taken from Sonny. Who had been turning Claude over to the police when they called him. �What�s going on?� Stefan asked running up to Luke and his father. �They buried Lucky alive,� Luke said. �I have on the phone. �You want me to talk to him?� Stefan asked. He noticed that Luke was holding the phone and not talking too much. He knew if it was Nikolas where Lucky was. He would have trouble talking over even thinking straight. Luke nodded his head suddenly realizing that someone should be talking to Lucky. He gave the phone to Stefan. Stefan took it and started talking to Lucky. Lucky heard him. He heard everything that was going on up their but his mind started drifting away. He found it harder and harder to breathe. Stefan yelled something at him and he muttered, �Tank�s empty!� Stefan�s almost dropped the phone looked at Luke and Mikkos then said, �He is out of air.� At very moment the men hit the coffin. Luke heard clunk of the shovel hitting the wood. He jumped into the hole shoving the men out of his way and pulling one of the shoves out of one of the stunned men�s hands. He shoved the edge under the lid and bracing himself against the dirt wall. He pushed against the lid. The wood splintered breaking the cheep coffin lid wide open. After shoving the wood out of his way, Luke bent down and brushed Lucky�s cheek. �Cowboy!� �Hi,� Lucky said opening his eyes and smiling at his father. Luke didn�t just sighed and pulled his son to him. Taggert car pulled up about this time and he walked towards the crowed of people. He stood near Jason as they watched the meeting between father and son. �At least he is safe.� �Yeah,� Jason said smiling. He looked over at his father in law to see a cold hard look in his eyes. HE didn�t know what the look was for but he had feeling that someone was soon to die. It was Victor�s murders look. He hadn�t seen it often but when he did it only trouble. *************************** Laura was pacing the floor with the others around her. The moment the word got out that Lucky had vanished. Everyone had ended up at the Spencer�s penthouse. Alexis was wrapped up in a blanket feeling sick but trying to be supportive. �Laura, why don�t you sit down?� Alexis asked her. �I�m fine,� Laura said pausing only a moment in her pacing. The phone rang and Laura jumped. Nikolas was the one the picked up the phone and answered, �Hello?� He said unsure how to act if it was the kidnappers themselves. �Father?� Nikolas said relived to hear his father�s voice. �Yes. That�s good. I�ll tell them.� Nikolas hung up the phone and looked up at his mother. The others were all looking at him as well but Nikolas figured that his mother needed this news more then any of them. �Lucky is ok. They are taking GH get check out and they bring him home. Father said to stay here.� �You sure he is ok?� Laura asked. �Yes, he is fine,� Nikolas said smiling. He didn�t tell his mother that the kidnappers had tried to bury his brother alive. He didn�t think she needed to hear that bit of news. �Thank, God,� Laura said and she sat down for first time since she found out that Lucky had actually vanished. Laura didn�t notice Nikolas moving out of the room with Zander behind him. Ruby did and she went after the boys. She over heard Nikolas telling Zander that Damion Smith, Sam, Claude and Alice were behind Lucky�s kidnapping. �Dear God,� Ruby said as she walked into the room. �Yeah,� Nikolas said. He saw the same thing Ruby saw and that was trouble. Damion was a sore spot to Luke and Victor. You add the fact that Mikkos allowed someone like Sam and Alice near Lucky and you got fire. �Mikkos know yet?� Ruby asked. �I think so,� Nikolas said. �Oh, boy,� Ruby said before he turned around to go into the other room where the others were. She figured she be near the door when Mikkos arrived. She knew he wasn�t going to be happy. Luke wasn�t going to be happy. *************************************** When the door opened an hour later, Laura was the first one to jump to her feet and run towards it. The moment Laura caught sight of Lucky she gripped him tightly wrapping her arms around him. �Honey,� she cried. �I�m ok, mom,� Lucky said patting her back and looking over her shoulder to see Emily standing there. He gave her a wink just to show Emily that he was ok. Once Lucky got hugged or kissed by everyone in the room. He sat at the dining room table eating the meal that he missed when this mess got started. As Lucky fed his face, he looked up at his father and said, �Dad, next time you come up with a plan like this. Figure out another one.� Luke nodded his head. He never planned on Lucky getting buried alive. It kind of freaked him out himself. Mikkos, who was finally putting everything together, lost it. He walked up to Luke and asked, �What does he mean by that?� �None of your business,� Luke snapped. �You used him didn�t you?� Mikkos said the rage slowly building with in him. Luke didn�t comment. He just started to walk away but Mikkos wasn�t going to let him off. Mikkos grabbed Luke�s shoulder turned him around and slugged him right in the jaw. Luke went down and Mikkos stood there fuming. �How dare you use Lucky as bate. Why in hell can�t you think before you act?� Mikkos demanded. Luke laid on the floor holding his jaw with the others standing around wondering what was going on. Laura saw the rage in Luke�s eyes and before she could say a word. Luke jumped to his feet and charged Mikkos. Luke hit Mikkos right at the waist. The two men went down on the ground both of them getting in bunches. Some even landed where the men aimed at. Ruby, who was in the kitchen before the fight broke out, ran into the room. �What is going on here?� she demanded. No one said anything. Luke and Mikkos didn�t hear her. Ruby watched for a moment while the pair fought but then she had it. She reached in grabbed both Mikkos and Luke by their ear�s and yanked them to their feet. �Shit!� Luke yelled. Ruby had him by the ear that was pierced. If she didn�t watch how she pulled on it, she was going to pull the earring out. �Ruby!� �Shut up!� Ruby snapped forcing Ruby and Mikkos to walk towards Laura�s down stairs office. �Ruby,� Mikkos said trying to stand up but Ruby gave his ear a hard twist. He winced and he moved on. Ruby let go only when she was in the office. Luke and Mikkos stood up rubbing their ears as they stood there glaring at Ruby. �What is the meaning of this?� Mikkos demanded. Ruby slammed the door and turned on the men. Luke was the only one that backed up. He saw this look in Ruby before. He was teenager the last time he got it but he still remembered when she was near loose it. �Don�t play prince with me!� Ruby snapped. �What in hell was that about out there?� Ruby demanded. �He slugged me!� Luke said and even to him he sounded like a two-year-old. Mikkos laughed and said, �You deserved it. You used your own son as bait!� Ruby shook her head in disgusted and said, �I am so sick of both of you. You two can�t figure out how live with each other. Well, you are going to because you are not leaving this room until you do!� Ruby ordered as she walked the door. She opened it and left the room slamming behind her. Mikkos took a step forward but Luke moved in the other diction saying, �I wouldn�t.� �Why not?� Mikkos snapped. �Because she is pissed and I wouldn�t want to make her any madder,� Luke said smiling as he poured himself a drink. �You don�t anything about Ruby? How often do you see her?� Mikkos snapped turning around to face Luke. Luke laughed and said, �I know more about her then you do.� Luke sat down in the chair and put his feet up. He wasn�t planning on doing with Mikkos. He figured he stay in the office until Ruby either cooled off or left. Mikkos sneered at Luke. He walked over to him and shoved his feet off the desk. �You really think you know her? They why don�t you call her mother?� Mikkos demanded. Luke stood up leaned forward and said, �I don�t have to. You think that word means a lot to Ruby. Hell, if that is all she needed then I say it every day of the year for the rest of her life. I respect Ruby more then you�ll ever respect her but not because she gave birth to me. I respect her because what she has done for me! It is something you�ll never understand.� �You think so right,� Mikkos snapped starting to pace the floor. �Just like you think you were right by using your son as bait. Hell, you could have gotten him killed but you don�t care about that. All you care about is doing this on your own!� Luke pushed all the items off the desk and stood there glaring at Mikkos. �I care a hell of a lot about Lucky�s life. If Damion had hurt him, I would have blown the creep�s head off. So, don�t get me this crap about me not caring. You�re the one that doesn�t give a damn about Lucky. All you care about is the fact that he is your crown prince. Well, I have news for you old man! You aren�t going to turn Lucky into a carbon copy of some Cassadine Prince. You�ll have to go through me to do and the only way to do that is over my dead body!� Mikkos laughed and said, �You are paranoid.� �Paranoid?� Luke asked walking around the desk to face Mikkos. �You act so much about Lucky. Hell, act like you care all about all the kids but you don�t. All you care about is making grandfather of the year. You don�t care that you gave a teenager boy, who has had trouble with gambling in the past, access to 10,000 dollars.� Mikkos turned on Luke and said, �I care. Hell, I know where every penny they spend goes. I know for the fact that Lucky takes 5,000 dollars out every Christmas and buys blankets, clothes and food for the homeless in town. As for the others? Well, lets start with BJ! She went on a shopping spree just a few weeks ago. She bought a new leather jacket, five pairs of jeans, two shirts, three T-shirts, two sweaters, and several pair of shoes. Why a teenager girl needs all those shoes I�ll never know. If you are worried about Lucky and BJ buying drugs, why don�t you take them out of that school where they could get shot by just going to class.� Mikkos snapped. Luke had to admit he had him there. He did know what BJ and Lucky spent their money on. �Ok, what about Lu and those lessons? Did you ever think about asking us if we wanted her jumping fences? Laura worries constantly about her kids. All you did is make things worse. We can�t say she can�t do it. We�ll look like the bad guys. At least, you could have asked us before going behind our backs!� Luke yelled. �What is wrong with her taking riding lessons if she enjoys them?� Mikkos asked. �Because the same reason I hate that car!� Luke said getting right in Mikkos face. �My kids picked up one little trait from me. They like taking risks. They enjoy pushing the limit. I want to keep them from going to far as long as possible.� Mikkos laughed at his and said, �At least you admit it, why in God name Laura put up with you for so long I don�t have a clue. You can�t even stay around and be a proper father.� Luke felt like hitting Mikkos but hitting wouldn�t help. Luke walked way and as he do so he said, �As good of father as you? Look who you raised? There is Stefan; the guy is so stiff he squeaks when he walks! Alexis, the only time she isn�t having a chronic fit about something is when she is practicing law and don�t get me started about Stavors. We know what he turned out to be.� *** Everyone stood behind the door listening as the two men went at it. They all reacted at Luke�s comment. Stefan looked at Bobbie and asked, �I�m not bad?� �You�re getting better,� BJ said patting Stefan on the shoulder and smiling at him. �Chronic?� Alexis side smiling. �I�m as bad as you are,� Sonny said hugging his wife. *** �Leave Stavors out of this,� Mikkos snapped. �Why? You raised him as the prince that is who you want Lucky to be isn�t it?� Luke asked as he turned to face Mikkos. �You really believe that don�t you? �Yeah, I do and isn�t going to happen. You are not going to turn my son into a monster. Not as long as I�m alive,� Luke said and with that he started for the door. Everyone jumped back when the door was yanked open. They quickly gave Luke room and he left the penthouse without saying a word to anyone. Ruby looked over at Mikkos. Who stood there hurt that Luke would think he would actually want to hurt Lucky. She walked into the room and closed the door. �You figure him out yet?� �He is paranoid,� Mikkos snapped. Ruby laughed and said, �He�s scared. Don�t you get it, Mikkos? Luke needs Lucky. He needs both his kids. They make his life count for something.� Mikkos looked at her and asked, �What do you mean?� �Come on,� Ruby said taking Mikkos by the hand. �It is time someone explains Luke to you.� Chapter 31 Back to Trials of Love |
