Chapter 24 It was Sunday afternoon and Luke was lying on the couch sleeping after spending the night before at the club. Laura walked out of her home office. �Luke you wake?� Laura called out. �No,� Luke said in a sleepy voice. Laura shook her head at him and walked to the couch and leaned over it. �Can I use the club two weeks from yesterday?� �For what?� Luke asked opening one eye and looking into the face of his lovely wife. �I have this new campaign idea and I want to have a party for the press and others in town. Can I use your place to do it?� Laura asked him with her best pleading look on her face. Luke smiled at her and said, �My club is your club. Now, can I go back to sleep?� �Sure,� Laura said kissing him on the lips and heading back into her office to get to work on things. Lu came in about that time and walked over to Luke. �Daddy?� Luke�s eye popped open and looked at his daughter. �Yes, princess?� Luke asked her. He had a feeling that he wasn�t going to get any rest this day. He just had that gut feeling it was going be one of those days. �I need to go practice for my competition. Can you take me? Mommy is busy and I can�t get a hold of grandpa,� Lu begged. Luke sighed and got up. �Sure, I�ll sleep in the car,� Luke muttered as he looked around the room for his shoes and keys. Lu ran upstairs to quickly get ready herself. ************************ �Hey, Nik. How�s school?� Lucky asked as he sat on his bed talking to his brother. �Ok, how�s things there?� Nikolas asked. He hated being so far away from everyone specially with Lucky just getting back on his feet but he knew he only had two years to go. He could go on and get a doctorate in business but he wasn�t up for doing that. He would just go back home and help his father take care of the families businesses. �Ok. Em is shopping with her mother. They still aren�t that settled in their home yet,� Lucky said lying on his bed and playing an old ragged baseball. �How is it having Emily so close?� Nikolas asked with a knowing grin on his face. �Great. How is it having Gia on the same campus as you?� Lucky asked mimicking his brother�s tone of voice. �Super.� Nikolas said laughing. �I bet it is. Hey, when are you going to fly home for a visit?� Lucky asked. He hated to admit it but he missed Nikolas. He missed his brother and his cousin, who at this moment was at Yale with Robin getting signed up for their classes next semester. �I don�t know. I hope so soon. I have lots of test this week,� Nikolas said. �How�s the studies going?� �Ok. I like this tutor she is great to look at. I am evening enjoying the Russian a lot specially now that I realize that mom and dad can�t speak a word of it,� Lucky laughed. �Lucky!� Nikolas sculled. �Hey, they did it to me when I was little. I�m just paying them back besides. I have to have some thoughts to myself,� Lucky said grinning. �Yeah, I know. So, you going to keep up the tutor for your other year or going back to school like you planned?� Nikolas asked. �I don�t know yet. I miss hanging out with the others at school but I don�t miss the other kids. They haven�t really warmed up to me since they found out that I�m a Cassadine,� Lucky said. �Don�t let Luke here you say those word,� Nikolas teased. �Yeah, well. I might not carry the name but that is how people see me,� Lucky said. �I guess you heard about the treat?� �Yeah, I heard. You be careful. Don�t take those threats to lightly,� Nikolas warned his brother. �I�m not. I�m watching my back. Dad put Johnny on me. It is better then any of the stiffs that Victor hire,� Lucky said laughing. �They aren�t to bad. They just stick out a great deal,� Nikolas said. �Tell me about it. Hey, I�m going up with Sam in a few days. I�m hoping he will let me solo,� Lucky said grinning. �Don�t count on it. He most probably will make sure that you haven�t forgotten anything. So, Luke still going with you on your flights?� Nikolas asked. �Yeah, dad just doesn�t like Sam for some reason. He never gave me a real reason. He just said that the guy isn�t to be trusted. Then again maybe it is because Sam had been with Mikkos and Victor longer then anyone that works for this family,� Lucky laughed. �I think that is it. Sam�s father was one of Mikkos oldest and dearest friends,� Nikolas said. �Is it true that Sam taught Stefan how to fly?� Lucky asked. �Not Sam but his father. Sam and my father are the same age,� Nikolas said. �They learned to fly together.� �I thought Sam was older then Stefan. He sure looks it,� Lucky said laughing. �He will never let you solo if he hears you say that,� Nikolas said warning his brother. �I�m not dumb. Hey, look. I have to run. I promised Josh that I�d help him with his homework. He is really have trouble with some of his classes,� Lucky said noticing what time it was. �Ok, I�ll talk to you later. Bye,� Nikolas said and he hung up the phone. Lucky jumped out of bed grabbed his keys and headed down stairs. �Mom?� Lucky called out when he realized that no one was around. �Yeah,� Laura called out from her office. �I�m going over to Johnny�s and Josh�s. I�m going to help Josh with his schoolwork. I�ll catch up with you later.� �Ok, be careful,� Laura warned him. �I�ll take Foster,� Lucky said and he yelled for his dog. Who quickly and gladly was willing to go for a ride in the car. **************************************** Emily and her mother were looking at bed�s for the baby when Emily asked, �Mom, how will Robert fit in all of this?� Emily asked. �Robert? Why do you ask?� Monica questioned turning to face her daughter. �He is the baby�s father. How will he fit into this picture?� Emily asked. Monica thought about this and said, �He will be part of this baby�s life,� Monica said. �No, I mean our lives. How will he fit in our life?� Emily asked. �Oh,� Monica said finally figuring out what Emily was trying to ask her. �I don�t know. I can�t tell you how he will fit in. I don�t know myself.� �So, you don�t love him?� Emily asked. Monica looked at Emily and said, �In perfect world every child would be made out of love. This isn�t a perfect world and I�m not perfect and neither is Robert. We both did something that shouldn�t have happened be we are living up to it.� �I know and I guess it would be easier if you have some feeling for him,� Emily said. �I do. I care for as a friend. I am grateful that he wants to look after this baby and me but I don�t love him. I�m sorry,� Monica said hugging Emily. �It�s ok. I was just wondering,� Emily said and they went back looking at different kinds of beds that were available for kids. They were looking at this oak crib when Monica said, �I saw Alan at the hospital the other day.� �What did he want?� Emily asked coldly. �He wanted to say he was sorry for what happened,� Monica said reading the hate in Emily�s voice. �You believe him?� Emily asked shocked that her mother would even talk to Alan after what he did to her. Monica thought about this for a moment and said, �Yes. I think he meant it. He wants to talk to you.� �Well, I don�t want to talk to him,� Emily snapped. �Mom, he shoves you around and now you act like nothing happened. Why?� Monica sighed and looked at her daughter, �Em, I�m not acting like nothing happened. I�m just saying I can see that he is sorry for what happened.� �Mom, I don�t think he is. How many times has he said that he was sorry? How many times has he asked us to over look his actions?� Emily asked her mother. �I know. I know Alan has messed up a lot over the past few years but he does love you,� Monica said lifting Emily�s with her hand. �You do know that don�t you?� �No,� Emily said with tears in her eyes. Monica sighed and pulled her daughter towards her. She didn�t know what to do for Emily. She had no idea how to get Emily to understand that spite everything Alan still loved her. ******************************* Carly put the twins down for their nap. She walked into the living room and found Jason standing at the window looking out to the skyline. �What�s wrong? You haven�t said more then ten words all afternoon,� Carly asked her husband as she walked up behind him. Jason leaned over and kissed her. �I�m just thinking,� Jason said. �About what?� Carly asked turning her back to the wall and leaning on it. Jason sighed and said, �About my family.� �Oh, them,� Carly said coldly. �Yeah, them,� Jason said and he told Carly about meeting Stuart and what Robert said about the Chandler family. �I have met Adam once. I was about seventeen at the time. I didn�t like him much when I did. He was to cocky for me,� Carly admitted. �Well, I don�t know if this was his brother Stuart or Adam himself. I really don�t care either! What gets me if Luke�s comment about all of this,� Jason said. �What did Luke say?� Carly asked giving Jason a knowing look. �He reminded me that not only will Alan and Edward get hurt in this but so will grandmother. Now, I really don�t care about them but I do care about her. I don�t want to see her hurt,� Jason said sadly. Carly thought about this for a moment and said, �I don�t either. What are you going to do?� �I don�t know. I do know that I�m going to have to decided soon,� Jason said hugging his wife. �I�ll be stand by you in what ever you do,� Carly said to Jason. �I know you will,� Jason said and the couple moved towards the couch to enjoy the little quiet time they had left before the twins were back running around again.
