| Chapter 19 Sunday Lucky talked his parents into letting him wash and wax his car. It was the closest he got the thing since his accident. Lucky was buffing it out when a car drove by. Lucky wasn�t paying to much attention to who arrived. He was to busy jamming to the music as he worked to pay any attention to anything that was going on around him. Lucky leaned over started to rub his finger on a spot he saw in the car when suddenly someone grabbed his ribs. �Gotcha!� Emily said as dug her fingers into Lucky�s side. Lucky jumped a good five feet into the air with that stunt. He turned around suddenly and stood there starring with amazement at Emily. �What are you doing here?� He asked her as he put down the buffer and gave Emily a big hug. �We decided to come home,� Emily said smiling. �When did you start walking without the crutches?� �Yesterday. I was going to call you today and tell you,� Lucky said leaning against the car. He looked at Em for a moment then said, �I missed you.� �I missed you to,� Emily said and she leaned into Lucky and the pair started to kiss. ***************************************** Jason took his mother to the house to gather more of her things. He figured that maybe the family would be good if he was along. Alan wasn�t around when they arrived and in fact the only family member they could find was Lila. �Welcome back,� Lila said hugging both Jason and Monica. �Thanks, It is good to be back,� Monica said the only person she missed out the family was Lila. She was the only one that made divorcing Alan a hard thing to do. Lila must have read Monica because she looked sad as she asked, �You are not back for good?� �No. Emily wanted me to tell you that she will be by later. She ran into Lucky and they needed to get caught up,� Monica said and they headed into the living room to sit and talk for a bit. �I�m sorry. I wish it could be different,� Lila said as Monica and Jason sat down on the couch. �I do to but I can�t do this any more. I�m tried of all of it. I lost AJ. Jason doesn�t feel like this home to him and Emily is getting just as bad. I have to make a choice between my children and Alan. I�m afraid he looses,� Monica said holding a hand to Lila. �I understand. You do have to do what is best for all of you. Tell Emily that if she isn�t comfortable coming to see me that I will go see her,� Lila said patting Monica�s hand. �I will and thank you. You are always welcome in my home. I will never keep you away from Emily,� Monica promised. Jason grabbed his grandmother�s hand and said, �The rug rats miss you as well.� �I miss them. How are they?� Lila asked smiling just thinking about her great grandchildren. �They are growing,� Jason said smiling and he handed her pictures of the kids. While Lila and Jason looked over the pictures of the twins, Monica went up starts to gather the rest of Emily and her things. She was packing her bags when Alan walked into the bedroom. �So, were you going to say goodbye or what?� Alan asked as he pointed to the bags on the floor. Monica looked at him sadly and said, �I was going to tell you.� �You didn�t tell me that you leaving town. So, why should I believe you now?� Alan asked not hiding the sarcasm in his voice. Monica said and said, �Because how you are acting now. You make this about yourself but it wasn�t about you. It was about Emily. Her life was falling a part around her and she needed a break from everyone. I needed one as well,� Monica said as went to the closet to see if she missed anything. �I am her father. I should have been part of this decision,� Alan snapped. �You haven�t been her father for a long time. You crawled into a bottle of pills and I dealt with Emily. Now that you are better you seem to think things should go back to normal but it can�t. I�m tried of this Alan. I�m tried of the fighting. I�m tired of watching my children fall a part!� Monica said fighting the tears that threaten to over take her. She didn�t know what is was but they couldn�t talk any more. They couldn�t just sit down and have conversation they always ended up going it. Maybe this was good thing to end their marriage after all because they sure are not acting like they love each other any more! Alan growled in frustration and looked at his wife. �I thought you said you forgave me?� Alan asked her. �I thought I did to but I guess I didn�t,� Monica said sighing in frustration. �I guess after all this time I can�t forgive you for that.� �Well, at least you admit it,� Alan said starting to pace the floor in frustration. �So, if you are leaving then I guess our daughter is going with you.� �Yes,� Monica said fighting hard not cross her arms. She wasn�t ready for Alan to find out her little secret yet. She kind of wished he would never find out but she knew that was wishfully thinking. �Emily feels it better this way.� �Or is how you feel?� Alan asked her coldly. �What do you mean?� Monica asked not liking his tone of voice. �You think I am keeping daughter from you? Do you think I�m the one that feeds her all these lies?� �I don�t know what to think any more? Emily used to love me but lately she can�t stand me. I�m starting to wonder if you aren�t part of that reason?� Alan asked. �Alan, you did that! You and this family! Or have you forgotten that AJ sold her private thoughts. Have forgotten that Edward got in private war with her boyfriend�s grandfather?� Monica asked him. �No, I haven�t forgotten but Emily and I haven�t gotten along before then,� Alan pointed out. �Yeah, well you were also to busy to pay much attention to her for awhile. You were a little out of it!� Monica said and she started for the door. She would have Reginald pack up Emily things and send them on. She just couldn�t deal with this any more. �Where do you think you are going?� Alan demanded grabbing her arm. He wasn�t done with this yet, not by a long shot! �Get off me!� Monica yelled pulling free of Alan. It so happened, Jason arrived right then and saw his father man handling his mother or that is how he seeing it. �What are you doing?� Jason asked shoving his father away. �Talking to my wife!� Alan snapped looking at his son with frustration. �I see where AJ gets it from. When I put him on the plane he told me he was talking to Emily!� Jason snapped. �You forced your brother to leave town?� Alan questioned looking at his son with hate. �It was mom�s idea. I wanted to kill him,� Jason said as he got his father�s face. �I�m not going to let you are anyone hurt my mother or my sister. So, get this! If you lay a finger on either of them I�ll make sure you live to regret it!� �You been hanging around that family of yours for to long,� Alan said backing up from Jason. �Yeah, well, they are this family. They don�t get into a room and start fighting. Luke might hate Mikkos but he doesn�t get into with him every second of the day. He at least respects the rest of us. I can�t say the same about this family!� Jason said and he put an arm around his mother and asked, �How about we leave. I�ll send for the rest of this stuff.� �Sure,� Monica said looking at Alan one more time, and then she walked with Jason. Alan watched them go feeling very frustrated. How could this go so wrong so fast? Why couldn�t Monica realize that he messed up and the loved her. All he wanted was more chance! *************************************** Luke sat at his desk at the penthouse listing to Robert tell him about him and Monica. When Robert was done talking, Luke looked at him and asked, �What do you want from me?� �I don�t know. You�re my friend. I wanted you know the truth,� Robert said shrugging his shoulders. Luke got up to get both Robert and him a drink. Luke said as he poured the drinks, �Mate, we go away back. I know you just well know me. I have done exactly what you done. I didn�t get the woman pregnant or not that I know off but I did it. If it were me, I would demand a blood test but then you are not me. You are little more trusting then I am, but you think Monica is over Alan then your crazy. If this is your kid then I would find away to legal be a part of that kids life. Don�t think what she thinks now will be the same as tomorrow.� Robert smiled and said, �As you said this me not you, Luke you see the bad things in life. I try to see the good things in life. I don�t see Monica double-crossing me.� �Ok,� Luke said as he handed Robert a drink and dropping the subject. He looked at Robert then asked, �What about your kids? You tell them yet?� �No, I have dinner with them tonight. I�m going to tell them then. I have no clue how they are going to react,� Robert admitted as he took a sip of his drink. Luke snickered and said, �I have a feeling it isn�t going to be good. One of them is going to get upset but then again Laura says never right anyway!� Luke laughed. Robert laughed and said, �I agree with Laura. You don�t know anything about people.� �Thanks a lot, mate,� Luke said looking offended. �I�ll remember that when you need my help.� Robert laughed and said; �I�m just kidding. I know Robin and Zander aren�t going like this but I can�t help it. It happened and I have live with it.� �Well, it is your life,� Luke said and he raised his glass to toast Robert. Robert did the same thing and the men finished their drinks in silence. ************ Luke and Robert were talking about the club and the warehouse goings on when Lucky and Emily walked into the room. All Luke had to do was look at the grin on his son�s face to know something was up. Luke leaned on the desk and asked with a smirk on his face, �You want something? �Ah, yeah,� Lucky said, �Can I have my car keys?� Luke closed his eyes and shook his head in frustration. He then opened them and asked, �Do you remember what your mother said this morning?� �I remember and I�m not driving. Emily is,� Lucky said pointing to his girl friend. Luke started to laugh and said, �Cowboy, if your mother finds out that got behind a wheel of a car. She is going to kill me and you.� �Please,� Lucky begged. �I�m a good driver,� Emily added. �Better then BJ?� Luke asked. BJ still wasn�t allowed to drive her car not because she wasn�t old enough but because Stefan didn�t trust her. Luke was wondering if Em was as bad. �He wouldn�t let me drive if I was that bad,� Emily said pointing to Lucky. �She right. I�m not desperate,� Lucky said laughing. He loved his cousin but she wasn�t that good behind a wheel of a car. He always joked it was safer on the road then the sidewalk when she was driving. Luke thought about this and said as he opened the desk draw, �You even think about driving you deal with your mother on your own. Don�t come looking for me,� Luke said to his son as he handed over the keys. �Got it,� Lucky said taking them but he didn�t have them for long. Emily had pulled them out his hand before running out the door. �Hey,� Lucky yelled running after her. Robert started to laugh and said, �It is nice to see moving around again. I thought Alex said he might never walk without those crutches. �She did but she also said most of his trouble was mental. I�m starting think his trouble was his nurse,� Luke said taping his pen on the desk in fruition. �What his nurse?� Robert asked. He knew that Luke hated Alice but he never thought that Alice was the trouble with Lucky not walking again. �I don�t know. The kid acts different now that she isn�t around. He used hid his room like he was scared of something but now she is gone. He is back to his old self. I was like everyone else. I thought he was hiding because he felt guilty about getting hurt but now! I don�t know,� Luke said trying to figure this all out. �Well, she is gone and he doesn�t seem hurt by her. So, why don�t just forget about it,� Robert said. �I would but I can�t. I guess what bothers me is that if she did scare him or threaten him. Then why didn�t he talk to me about it?� Luke said. �I don�t know,� Robert said not knowing how to help Luke out with this. ****************** Robert met Zander and Robin at the PC Grille around six o�clock. Robert walked up and his stomach did more flips as he seen Zander tense up as he neared the table. Robert should have known Zander was going to act that way. It had been hard to get to know each other over these past few months. If it wasn�t for Robin, they both might have given up on it a long time ago. Robert plastered a smile on his face as he sat down. �How are you two doing?� Robert asked greeting both Zander and Emily as he sat. �I�m doing fine,� Robin said kissing her father. �Mom told me to tell you that she is sorry she missed you.� �Yeah, well. Robin, I can say the same thing,� Robert said wishing she could but he no longer loved Anna. He knew that and he wished he would never have tried to get together with her. It had been a mistake. �I know,� Robin said wishing things would different between her parents but it hadn�t worked out that way. �Get things lined up for school?� Robert asked Zander who had suddenly found his glass of water very interesting. �Yeah, I�m after the first of the year. It is time I picked up my studies,� Zander said joining the conversation. �I�m grateful for the break you took I know it is hard taking off from school,� Robert said smiling. �Ah, it isn�t that big of a deal. I still don�t know what I�m going to do anyway. I�m starting to think that finding a work with is what I�m going to be,� Zander said feeling very frustrated about that. �What do you like?� Robert asked. �That�s the problem, I don�t know what I like,� Zander said grinning. �You�ll figure it out,� Robert said and the group ordered their meal. After that the small talk took over, Robert let and it wasn�t until after they ate that he got up the courage to tell them about Monica. �Ah, I have a confession to make. I called to have dinner with you for a reason.� �Your not going back to are you?� Robin asked hoping that at least one of her parents would stay out of the spy game. �No, I�m not going to the WSB. I could careless about them,� Robert said coolly. �Good, then what is it? You feeling ok?� Robin asked looking worried for a moment. �I�m fine. I�m not going to die if that is what you fear,� Robert said smiling as daughter. �Then what is it?� Zander asked feeling that Robert was hiding something. �Ah, well,� Robert said trying to find the right words. He finally just took several deep breaths and told them everything. Robin sat there with her hands clasped tightly on her lap feeling like her father just slugged her. She finally had to get up and walk away. Robert watched her leave and shook his head. �Man I blew it.� �I�ll go talk to her,� Zander said and he smiled at his father as he got up and rushed after his sister. Zander found Robin in the main hall standing near the window looking out. Zander placed a hand on her shoulder and asked, �You ok?� Robin turned around with tears in her eyes and said, �No, I�m not. He slept with another woman and acted like his marriage to our mother was nothing!� �It was nothing,� Zander said gripping his sister�s arm. �She lied to him. She had been lying to him from the get go. The only reason they tried it again was because that was expected.� �Of course you say that your man,� Robin snapped at Zander pulling her arm free. �It isn�t because I�m a man it is because I didn�t put a lot of stock in Robert and Anna being together. You do. You still think they should be together,� Zander said to Robin. �I do not,� Robin lied to herself and Zander and she knew it. Zander raised an eye brow at her and said, �Ok, I do but he still slept with another woman while he was married.� �Yeah, and Anna lied about me. He was hurt and got drunk. He messed up and he is trying to live up to that mistake. Victor always told me if I am dumb enough to crawl into bed with someone without protect then I better be ready to face up to what is going to happen. Look what you are living with?� Zander pointed out to his sister. �It was different. I was in love with Stone,� Robin said in her defense. �Sex is sex no matter what you put behind it. Our father messed up and slept with another woman. She is now carrying his child and he is being a man and living to up it. I�m proud of him for that,� Zander said. �You are?� Robin said shocked that Zander had called Robert his father. It was the first time Zander ever used that word before. �Yeah, I am. I don�t know what happened but the moment he said this my opinion changed of him. I started to realize that it wasn�t his fault that his choice was taken from him,� Zander said. Robin thought about this and said, �Your right. I guess he could easily tell Monica to get lost?� �Yeah, he could,� Zander said and together him and Robin went back to the table and sat back down. *********************************** Lucky, BJ, Josh, and Emily sat around BJ�s pool talking. The weather was starting to change and the teens knew soon that they weren�t going to be able to do this without freezing to death. �So, when are you going to start school?� BJ asked Emily. She missed her friend at school it was lonely at the table with both Emily and Lucky missing. �I will start Wednesday,� Emily said. �I am going to take the next few days to help mom get settled in the penthouse that Jason is renting us. �Hey, that�s cool. I get to bug you for a few more days,� Lucky said glad to know that his girlfriend is going to live very close to him now. �What about you? Now that you are walking again, when are you going to start school?� Josh asked. �I don�t know yet. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow and if Alex clears me then I can go back any time I want,� Lucky said. �Your walking what other problem did you have?� BJ asked. �None, I just don�t want to get my hopes up. I do miss you everyone and I�m starting to get board being in a class of one,� Lucky said laughing. �I thought you liked the private lessons?� Josh teased. Lucky�s tutor was a real looker or that is what Lucky, Josh and Luke thought. Emily and BJ gave the boys cold looks and Lucky pointed to Josh and said, �He said it!� �We know,� the girls said glaring at Josh. Josh smiled and gulped. Thankfully, Bobbie showed up with a chaw over her shoulders. �I hate to break this up but it is getting late and BJ and Josh have school tomorrow.� �Yeah, I get home as well. Mom might need me,� Emily said getting up and brushing herself off. �Ok.� Lucky said and after saying good bye to BJ. Lucky, Emily and Josh left. BJ and Bobbie were walking into the house, when BJ asked, �Mom, can I tell you something but you can�t tell anyone else until later.� �Sure,� Bobbie said smiling. BJ sighed and said, �Monica is having a baby and Robert�s the father.� Bobbie stopped walking and looked at her daughter with a stunned look on her face. �You�re joking right?� �No, I�m not. Emily said it happened the night everyone found out about Zander. What do you think that means for us?� BJ asked. �You mean do you think the Quartermaines are going to blame us for this?� Bobbie asked. �Yeah. It has been nice without worrying about what is going to be in the paper next. I hope this doesn�t start things up all over again,� BJ said. �It won�t. We won�t let it,� Bobbie said putting a hand on her daughter�s shoulder and heading into the house. She was hoping it wasn�t going to start things up again. She was also worried about Monica as well.
