| Chapter 16 Lucky waited for his mother to get home working on his studies and trying to figure out how to talk her into what he wanted. Laura arrived a little after five with Lu. �Lucky,� Lu yelled and jumped at her brother. �How you doing?� Lucky asked hugging his sister. �Great. You want to play Sega?� Lu asked. �After you do your homework,� Laura said walking over and kissing Lucky on the cheek. �What did the doctor say?� �Here,� Lucky said handing his mother the note Alex wrote for him. He sat there grinning brightly with his fingers crossed behind his back. Laura eyed him coolly and said, �No.� and she started to walk away. �Mom,� Lucky begged getting up and limping towards her. �Why not?� �Because I said so now stop bugging me,� Laura said. Lucky lost his tempter. He took his crutch and knocked over several figurines sending the crashing to the floor. �I should have as stayed in the coma because you sure in hell aren�t going to let me forget that I messed up!� Lucky yelled and he went to the room he was using on the first floor slamming the door behind him. Luke had heard the crash in the kitchen and went to investigate. He was standing in the doorway looking at Laura intently. �Don�t start,� she snapped at him and she went to change cloths. Lu looked up at he father and asked, �What happened?� �Mommy is scared Lucky is going to get hurt and Lucky has a bad case of cabin fever. Why don�t you help Mrs. Carson in the kitchen,� Luke said patting Lu on the back and then heading up the stairs to talk to Laura. Luke found Laura in their bedroom. She was changing out of her work clothes and she took things out of the drawers she slammed them closed hard. �Angel,� Luke said quiet tone of voice as he walked into the room. �Don�t angel me. He isn�t going out. He isn�t ready,� Laura said throwing the shirt she was holding on the floor. �You or him?� Luke asked. Laura stood there and glared at Luke. Luke walked to her and warped his arm around her. �I know you are scared he will get hurt again but sweet heart. You can�t keep him locked up forever. You have to let him go out sometime.� Laura sighed and looked up at the sky. �I know but...� Laura said and she started to cry. Luke pulled her to him and held her. �I know. I know. You don�t want to loose him but sweetie in a few years you will anyway. He isn�t baby any more and you can�t treat him like one.� ******************************************** Laura knocked on Lucky�s door and then walked into the room. Lucky was sitting at his desk working on something and he was muttering in Russian. It was a habit he picked up over the past few years. When he didn�t want anyone to know what he was talking about. He would say it in another language. �You mad at me?� Laura asked as she sat down in the chair beside his desk. �What gives you that idea?� Lucky snapped not turning around to look at her. Laura nodded her head and begged. �Well you look at me?� Lucky sat there for a moment then turned his head towards her. �You think I�m not you go because you did something wrong. Well, that isn�t it. I�m afraid of you getting hurt. I don�t want you out of my sight just yet.� �Mom, you can�t prevent me from getting hurt,� Lucky told her. �I know but I want to keep you safe as long as I can. I almost lost you and it scared me. You are very precious to your father and me. We wouldn�t know what to do without you,� Laura �Mom, I know and I�m scared both of you but you have to lighten up. Bad enough I have to deal with over powering nurse and grandfather. I really don�t have in me to deal with you as well,� Lucky said smiling at his mother. *********************************************** Bobbie arrived home a little after five. She was tired and worn out. Her day got longer after Luke left with Lucky and she was glad that it was over with. Bobbie to her favorite chair and dropped down into it. She put her feet up and leaned her head back closing her eyes and letting the stress roll away from her. Stefan walked into the living area the moment he saw Bobbie, he could tell that she had had a bad day. Stefan walked over to her and slowing started to rub her shoulders. Bobbie groaned as his hands worked slowly over her shoulders. �You missed your calling,� she said opening one eye and blowing at Stefan. �I would do this only for you,� Stefan said laughing as he leaned over and kissed her lips lightly. �You have bad day?� he asked. �Yes and the topper was we lost a boy about Lucas�s age. He was in gang and got shot. There was nothing we do for him and I watched as his family was told and all they could think about was revenge. I sometimes fear from my children when I have specially when I have days like this. I want to send them somewhere where they are safe,� Bobbie said as she sat up stretching her fingers to work the stress from her body. �We could send them to private school,� Stefan said with smile. He knew what Bobbie was going before she said it. He just said to get life out of her. �No, I am not sending my children way to some boarding school,� Bobbie snapped. �Look what happened to AJ!� �Good point. Ah, speaking the Quartermaine�s, Edward called Mikkos today and threatened a lawsuit. This peace we have between the families might end soon and I don�t think Lucky could stop it again,� Stefan said and he sat down on the stool and started to rub Bobbie�s feet. �Not good specially with what happened at work,� Bobbie said and she told Stefan about Lucky�s run in with Alan. �Great. Alex tells Uncle Victor and he tells father getting him all worked again! Why don�t this family go away and leave us alone?� Stefan asked. He was sick of the fighting. He was tried to trying to keep everyone from going over the edge because of all of this. �Yeah, and this starts all over again. I�m so glad Monica took Emily away and I hope she keeps her away. I miss my friend but I�m sick watching both get hurt because of this,� Bobbie said and she put her feet down leaned forward and started to kiss Stefan. �Hey, take it to the bedroom! The living room isn�t for making out,� BJ said grinning as she walked into the room. Stefan sat up smoothed his suit and said in his blunt tone. �Young lady, I do not make out!� Bobbie laughed at him pulled Stefan towards her and said, �I do.� BJ stood there laughing as Stefan tried very hard to pull himself away from his wife. Bobbie finally let him go laughing as Stefan stood back up. �You wanted something?� she asked her daughter giggling. �Oh, yeah. Lucky can go to the dance. You said if he goes then I get to drive that deal still on?� BJ asked smiling at her mother. �Yes, it is but remember what we talked about. No more then five people in the car, no talking to your friends on your cell phone and I want you home by 11:30,� Bobbie said, �that should give you enough time to drop the others off at their homes.� �Thanks mom,� BJ said kissing her mother on the cheek and started towards the stairs. She had lots to do before the dance it was three days away. She needed to get started. Stefan looked at Bobbie and asked, �Did you have to do that in front of her?� �Oh, lighten up Stefan. BJ is a bright girl. She knows all about relationships. I had the talk with her a long time ago because it does the kids good seeing their parents show love. They aren�t afraid to show their love for us then,� Bobbie said and she pulled Stefan to her again but this time he went willing. **************************************** Monica woke up real early that morning to do one thing. She had to make a phone call to the states. She thought about it all day and realized that it was time. Robert had to know about the baby and she needed to start telling people about the baby. She just wanted to make sure that Robert was the first one that she told. Monica looked at the clock and thought about her time and the time back home. She finally decided she waited long enough. She picked up the phone and called Robert�s number. She had gotten it from the numbers Jason cared with him. She didn�t ask. She was afraid that he would ask to many questions and since Jason was good picking out liars. Monica decided not to take to many chances. Ever ring took forever to Monica. She wondered if he was home? As her fears grew to a boiling point. Robert picked up the phone and said, �Scorpio!� �Robert,� Monica said her voice sounding strange ever to her. �Monica? Everything thing ok?� Robert asked wondering why she was calling him. He knew it had to be early over there. So, this only built fear in Robert that something had happened to the others over seas. �Yes, I�m fine. I know this strange and it going sound even stranger. I need you to come and see me. I have to talk to you about that night,� Monica said feeling like a teenager trying to tell her boyfriend that he was going to be a father a young age. The problem was she wasn�t a teenager and neither was Robert. He wasn�t even her lover. �Sure, but there is no big deal. I mean it was just one night,� Robert said wondering why she was bringing that night now. �It is big deal and I can�t tell you why over the phone. Please just come to Paris this weekend. We can meet at the little caf� just off a block from the house,� Monica said. �Why a caf�? What�s going on?� Robert asked. �I can�t tell you not like this but please come. You will see then,� Monica said and she hung up. She was afraid he was going to ask to may questions. She was afraid that she would end up telling him over the phone. Robert looked at the phone with a puzzled look on his face. He thought about calling her back but something told him that it wasn�t good idea.
