Chapter 13

Ruby decided that it wasn�t right that Robert and Anna put up her family. So, Luke and the others were staying in the rooms above the diner until better arrangements could be made. Roy and Zander were sharing a room, Carly and Jason were in anther room and Luke, Laura and Lucky were in the other room.

Laura had made a pallet on the floor for Lucky and she just finished tucking him in. �Good night,� Laura said she was still having trouble believing that he was actually with her again.

�Nite,� Lucky said rolling over pulling his bear to him and going to sleep.

Laura smiled and climbed into bed next to Luke. As she got settled next to him, she asked. �Luke, I have been meaning to ask you something.� Laura said laying her head on his shoulder.

�What?� Luke asked in a dreamy voice.

�I did you sleep with Jennifer Smith?� Laura asked looking at him intently. Luke acted like a cat on a hot tin roof. Laura knew then without him answering the answer to that question. �You told me you didn�t make love to her!�

�I didn�t make love to her. We had sex. There is a difference,� Luke said sitting up.

�Oh, there is. Is there any other times you had sex with other women that I don�t know about?� Laura asked getting up herself and crossing her arms across her chest.

Without thinking Luke said, �Before or after we were married?�

�What do you mean after we were married?� Laura snapped.

Luke winced and he reached for Laura�s hand and pleaded, �Sweetheart, listen I wanted to tell you but there are just things about the cases I did that I thought you shouldn�t know about.�

Laura pulled free from him got out of bed and went to where Lucky was laying. He wasn�t a sleep. His parents weren�t exactly talking in low voices by this time. He heard every word they said to each other. �Get up Lucky,� Laura ordered. Lucky sat up and his mother said, �You�re sleeping with your father. I�m sleeping here.�

�Angel!� Luke pleaded. Laura didn�t say anything. She just laid down and pulled the cover over her head. Lucky stood there wondering what to do. His father patted the bed beside him and said, �You might as well sleep here.�

Lucky crawled into bed next to him and asked, �Will she cool off?�

�Not for awhile,� Luke said and father and son settled down to get some sleep. Luke didn�t sleep too much. He was trying to figure out a way to explain to Laura his way of thinking. The trouble was he had a different up bring then she did. How would she understand any of this if she didn�t live it?

The next morning, Laura was sitting make notes on things she needed to buy not only for Lucky but Carly and Jason as well. She also wanted to get the kids back into school as soon as possible. She knew Damion was a threat but she was never one to sit around to wait. Besides, she didn�t want the kids to suffer because of him. They had lives to live. She wasn�t going to let him destroy them for all of them.

As for her and Luke, well so far Laura didn�t utter a word to Luke all morning. �Angel, are you going to talk to me?� Luke asked her finally.

�Yes, I need the bank card. While you and Roy are going to the airport to pick up our cars and other belongs. I�m taking the kids shopping,� Laura said coldly.

�Sure,� Luke said not what he wanted to hear but at least she didn�t get lost yet. He was taking that there was hope for them.

�Thank you,� Laura said as she put the card into her purse. �Have a good day,� Laura said to Luke and she walked away. The kids went a long with her.

Jason was the only one that thought about staying behind until Luke said, �Go with them to look after things.� Jason nodded and went along.

Ruby was cleaning the counter and she asked, �What�s wrong?�

�Laura is upset with me,� Luke said playing with his eggs. He wasn�t hungry at this moment. In fact, all he wanted was to have his wife to talk to him. This cold shoulder act was getting fast!

�What happened?� Ruby asked. Luke smiled sadly and told her what was going on. Ruby patted him on the arm and said, �Give her time. She will cool off.�

�I hope so,� Luke said and he looked over at Roy and said, �Lets go.� Roy quickly finished his coffee then left. He knew what Luke had done but didn�t blame the guy. It was business. It was part of the act. The troubles would Laura understand it? Roy didn�t know.

Laura and the kids came back that afternoon with Bobbie along for the ride. BJ was still at school and Lucas was at his the babysitters. They had enough trouble with Lucky and Carly at this moment. They didn�t need the others around to make it worse.

Lucky and Carly weren�t happy. They weren�t looking forward to going back to school. Make matters worse, Laura didn�t push the subject on the fact that Jason was a drop out. Laura figured she couldn�t make him go back. He was almost eighteen. He was old enough to make up his own mind. Lucky tried that approach with his mother but it didn�t work. He was still going to school.

�Take things up stairs,� Laura told them.

Jason took the bags from Laura and he went along upstairs with the kid. Bobbie and Laura sat down at the counter together looking worn out. �I never realized what it cost to put kids in school!�

�That bad?� Ruby asked.

�Yes,� Laura said rubbing her sore feet. She looked at Bobbie and said, � You didn�t have to help out with Zander things.�

�Yes, I did. He is my son and I want to help,� Bobbie said smiling brightly.

�Well, thank you,� Laura said and she took the coffee Ruby had poured for her and sipped at it.

Bobbie went up to say goodbye to Zander. Then she was going to the school to pick up BJ. Ruby took this moment to talk to Laura. �Ah, this is none of my business but Luke told me about your fight. I think your are making a mistake.�

�Me? He was the one that slept around on me,� Laura snapped.

Ruby looked at Laura and said, �Laura, to Luke that isn�t sleeping around. He did what he had to make a case. It was part of the act. He was playing a part. He had done it a lot of times. You are the one he gave his soul to. You are the one that he loves.�

�I know he loves me but the way he said. It was so cold. It was like sex and love are different things for him,� Laura said feeling very frustrated about all of this.

�They are different,� Ruby said firmly. �Look how he grew up. It wasn�t a life a kid but that was his life. I sold myself sex. That is a business deal. Plan and simple!�

Laura sighed and said, �This gives me something to think about.� Laura got up and went on the kids. While she walked, she thought about what Ruby had said and all things Luke could have done for the FBI that she didn�t know about.

When Luke and Roy got back later that day. Luke found his wife in the room putting on her make up. �What�s this?� He asked wondering.

�Go get dressed. I had Jason take Lucky, Carly and Zander to Bobbie�s. We are going out,� Laura said calmly.

�Why?� He asked wondering if she wanted to get him in a public place before dumping him.

�Just do it,� Laura ordered.

�Ok,� Luke said and he went to take quick shower. Laura found Roy and told him that Bobbie said he was very welcome to come over. Roy noticed that Laura was trying to get rid of him. He took the hint and went to spent time with kid.

When Luke was dressed the couple went to the No Name and sat in the back booth. �Well?� Luke asked as he sat next to his wife wonder where she was going with this.

Laura smiled at him said, �Don�t panic, I�m not going to kill you. I thought about but it isn�t going to happen.�

�What is going to happen?� Luke asked her.

�I can�t say that I�m not upset with you because I am. The trouble is I know the situation you were in because of the FBI. It wasn�t right but it happened. Besides, there was a time I was in your shoes. I thought about Stavors and Nikolas. We both know that I have son out there that I can�t get to. I don�t know where he is any more. We both looked but came up empty. So, If you can over look the fact that I slept with Stavors. I guess I can put with the no bodies that you dealt with because of the FBI. I just want one thing from you.�

�What�s that?� Luke asked taking Laura�s hand.

�Don�t do it again. Sex is sleeping around on me or at least in my book! My bed is the only bed is the only bed you come to,� Laura told him and she kissed him.

�Got a deal,� Luke said kissing her back.

They sat in the back booth talking when a conversation at a near by table caught Luke�s attention. He leaned closer to Laura and listened to the to men talking.

�You want me to what?� Sonny asked the man that sat cross from him.

�What�s wrong Corinthos? Afraid?� the man asked.

Sonny laughed and said, �Not of you. You know you did us a favor ordering your old man�s death. Besides, you have Scorpio to worry about Damion. He wants you bad and I bet he will get you.�

Luke blood went cold at the maintain of Damion�s name. He looked over at his wife and asked, �You bring your gun?�

�No,� Laura said. She too heard the two men talking and she couldn�t believe that Damion Smith was in the same restaurant as they were at this moment.

Luke pulled out Laura cell phone and dial Robert�s number. �He better be home,� Luke thought as he waited for the phone to pick up.

�Hello?� Robert�s voice came over the line just moments later.

�Mate, get to the �No Name!� Damion is having dinner with a man named Corinthos!� Luke said in a low voice.

�Sonny! I�m on my way. Don�t do anything,� Robert said to Luke then he slapped down the phone grabbing his keys and headed out the door. He didn�t even tell Anna what was going on. He didn�t have time. He knew if Damion caught sight of Luke and Laura they might end up dead or he would take off and he would loose him again. Robert didn�t like either prospect.
