| Chapter 32 A few days later, Sonny was working on the books in the office in the warehouse when Mike walked inside, �Can we talk?� Mike asked him. �About work?� Sonny asked coldly as he looked up and glared at his father. �No,� Mike said sounding a bit frustrated. �I want to talk to you about us.� �There is no us,� Sonny said coldly as he stood up and went to the near by filing cabinet. Mike walked around the desk to block Sonny�s path. He looked at his son and said, �Sonny, I know you are mad at me. You have every right to me but I�m all I�m asking is that you give me a chance.� Sonny laughed this cold empty laugh and said, �The only chance you are going to get is this job. Now get back to work!� Mike shook his head in frustration and turned walked away. He wasn�t going to give up on Sonny. He was going to find a way to break down that wall that Sonny had around him. ********************** BJ, Josh and Emily were heading into school right before the morning bell. Lucky had decided to stay at home. None of them could blame him specially after loosing his aunt so soon. There was a patch of ice on the sidewalk and BJ slipped a bit. She dropped her books and spilled the contense of her purse all over the place. �Let me help,� Josh said and before BJ could stop him. He bent down started to pick things up. Josh spotted the pregnancy test. He picked it up with this puzzled look on his face. He looked at BJ and asked, �This yours?� BJ panicked. She turned around and ran in the other direction with tears falling down her cheeks. �BJ?� Josh yelled he dropped his books and the other things and ran after her leaving Emily behind to pick up their belongings. It took Josh a bit but he finally caught up with her under neigh the bleachers by the football field. �BJ, Stop!� Josh said grabbing her arm and pulling her to a halt. �What is this?� He asked holding up the test. BJ looked down at her feet and said, �I�m pregnant but you don�t worry. I�ll take care of things by winter break.� It took a few moments for Josh�s brain to register what she was saying. �No,� Josh said shocked she would even think about it. �It is my body,� BJ snapped and she started to walk away. �Then hate you for life,� Josh said his voice laced with hate. BJ stopped and turned to look at him. �Josh, please don�t make this any harder then it is,� BJ pleaded. �BJ,� Josh said in a loving voice as he walked up to her and pulled her close. �Honey, I love you. I�ll by you in all of this but I can�t let you kill this child. I believe the moment that heart started beating it became a life. I watched my mother die when I was little. I watched her fight for every moment she had. I can�t let you just wipe a life out like it is nothing.� �I don�t be pregnant,� BJ cried and she fell into Josh�s arms. �I know,� Josh said holding close and rocking her in his arms. He didn�t know what to do about the baby. He did know that they were going to have to solve this problem together. *********************** Victor sat behind his desk his eyes glued to his computer screen. �Find anything interesting?� Mikkos asked his brother as he walked into the office. �Something,� Victor said not looking up from the screen. �Do mind filling me in on what you found?� Mikkos asked as he sat down in the chair across from his brother�s desk. Victor sighed and looked up at his brother. �Scott Baldwin should have been disbarred a long time ago. The guy is a half rate lawyer.� �So, how did he get the job of DA?� Mikkos asked. �Our mayor is a fool!� Victor said getting up from his desk and walking to the table near by and getting him and Mikkos coffee. As he poured the coffee told his brother what he found, �Scott was ADA in Buffalo, New York. He was a half rate ADA. He lost more cases then he won. The last one he tried ended in a hung jury. It seems that some of the evidence vanished.� �Our DA on the take?� Mikkos asked. �I can�t tell you now if he is or not but I do know one thing. They guy got married soon after the trial. It seems he married the woman that he was trying to put away,� Victor said smiling. Mikkos eyes brows raised and asked, �Who the lucky lady?� �Holly Sutton,� Mikkos jaw hit the ground. �The kid with her?� �Yeah, the kid with her,� Victor said. Mikkos sighed and said, �Now, I know part of what Scott is up to.� �That is if she told him,� Victor said walking back to his brother and handing him the coffee. �Oh, that money loving bitch told him. She tried going after this family with dear cousin Petros. I see her trying again with her son Lance,� Mikkos said coldly as he sipped his coffee. �To bad bastards can�t be crown princes,� Victor said smiling. �No, they can�t and this one isn�t going to get dime from me. He is a crook just like his mother. If he gets near my son or grandson, I want you to tell me,� Mikkos said coldly. �I don�t think you can stop her from telling Luke that she has a kid. Then there is Robert, the last I heard he had the hots for her as well,� Victor said with a smile as he sat back down in his chair. �Yes but I don�t want destroy that friend ship. I�m kind of counting on Robert to replace you when we are gone,� Mikkos said smiling. He got a dirty look from his brother with that remark. He knew Victor hated Robert and Robert hated Victor! Having those two around made life very interesting. ********************** While Mikkos was talking to his brother about a child that Luke didn�t know about, Luke was having trouble with his other two children. Lucky had locked himself in his room and Lu was sitting on the floor coloring. Laura in the mean time had gone with Monica and Carly to pack up Amy�s belongs. Luke decided that it might be easier dealing with Lu then Lucky at that moment. So, he managed to move to the floor beside her spite the complaints from his stiff leg. �What are you coloring?� Luke asked as he leaned forward to Lu. �A picture,� Lu said quietly. �Who�s that?� Luke asked pointing to the figure in the center of her picture. �Aunt Amy,� Lu said meekly. Luke groaned and put a loving hand on his daughters shoulder. �This how things looked when Lucky and you found her?� �Yeah, it was icky,� Lu, said in a small voice. �Hard to see someone killed,� Luke said sadly. �You see someone die?� Lu asked looking at her father for the first time since he sat down beside her. Luke fought a smile on this question. He didn�t think his daughter was ready to hear all the bad deeds daddy did in his life. So, Luke decided to tell her of the first person he saw die. Luke picked Lu up and placed her on his lap. �I was about your age when my mother died.� �I thought Aunt Ruby was your mother?� Lu asked puzzled. �Aunt Ruby is the woman that gave birth to me but when I was little I had another mother. She was a lot like Aunt Bobbie. She was feisty and ready to fix all wrong doings. She got sick though and we didn�t have the money for a doctor. So, she just laid there on the couch hurting. I held her hand and she told me that I should look after Aunt Bobbie then she died on me.� �You cry?� Lu asked. �Yes, I cried,� Luke, said leaning in a giving Lu a kiss on the cheek. �She might not have died the way Aunt Amy did but it still hurt when she left. It always does when you loose someone you care about.� �Do you think Aunt Amy is with Nakka?� Lu asked. Luke had to laugh and said, �I bet she met all of the good ones.� Lu smiled at this and asked, �I wonder what heaven is like?� It was ten about that time that morning. Luke did that math and realized it was to early in the morning back in Russia to call his aunt. He leaned closer to Lu and said, �About three this afternoon. I�ll call Aunt Angelic for you. I bet she can tell you what haven is like.� �Do you think?� Lu asked hopefully. �I think,� Luke said with a smile. �Ok,� Lu said and she started to clean up her mess. She didn�t like coloring any more. She decided that she might want to play with her dolls. ************************** Carly, Monica and Laura walked into Amy�s apartment. They were all relived to see that the place had been cleaned up over the weekend. �Where do we start?� Monica asked. �How about right here,� Laura said looking around Amy�s living room with a sad look. �Ok,� Carly said and the women put down the boxes and started to slowly take a part what was left of Amy�s life. They spent the next few hours stacking and packing things. Laura found hard in finding things she wanted to keep and other things she wanted to let go. Monica put a hand on Laura�s shoulder as she stood in Amy�s bedroom. �I know some nurses that would love have something of Amy�s. How about I take some of this stuff to the hospital?� �I think she would like that,� Laura said sadly as she looked at the picture of her and Amy as little kids. �Why?� Laura asked. �I don�t think any of us can get into Dorman�s mind,� Monica replied. �Dorman was a sicko,� Carly said coldly as she put down the arm full of clothes that she took out of Amy�s closet. �Did he tell you why he picked her?� Laura asked looking at Amy. Carly knew what he did to her but didn�t think Laura should know. She sighed heavily and said, �He picked her because she was blond. He didn�t care about anything else.� Laura shook her head and said, �Great. It was because of her hair.� Carly walked to Laura. She rested a loving hand on her shoulder and said, �Dorman was a sick man. He didn�t care about Amy. She was someone that he hurt. It was game to him. I wish it wasn�t but sadly it is true. All you can do is think about her and forget about him. Laura nodded sadly and looked at the picture again then put in a box along with the other stuff she wanted to keep. Chapter 33 |
