Chapter 23

Scott spent a half an hour in the mayor�s office getting his ass chewed out. By the time the mayor was done Scott�s mood had turned completely sour. It was clear that the mayor didn�t want him prying into the Cassadine family business. This told Scott one thing and that was the Cassadines got to him as well.

�Who else have they bought?� Scott snapped as he shoved open his door. Laura had been sitting there waiting for him. She jumped a bit when the door was shoved open. �Laura, sorry. I didn�t mean to startle you. How are you doing?� Scott asked.

Laura had sat there for a long time and the longer she sat there the madder she had gotten. So, by this point she was ready to give Scott a good ass chewing. �I�m not here on a social call. I�m here to tell you to back away from my son,� Laura snapped.

Scott groaned and said, �You don�t have to worry the Mayor already told me to back off.� Scott walked to his desk and sat down.

Laura put her hands on the desk and leaned in. �You wouldn�t if he hadn�t ordered you not to. How dare you corner my son and bring that garbage up now.�

�Laura, I was doing my job. It is very clear your family is hiding something,� Scott said in frustration.

Laura shook her head in disgust as she stood up and started to pace. �We are not the only ones hiding something. It is very clear to me you are hiding something. Scott, you don�t care about a case that you want closed. All you care about is getting to Luke. That is why you went after Carly the way you did and that is why you went his son. Well, I�m going to tell you this,� Laura said as she moved around the desk and leaned in close to Scott. �You utter a word at what you found out that was in the file to anyone. I�m going to make your life a living hell.�

Laura stood up and started to walk away. Scott stood up and said, �Your right. I did go after Lucky to get to Luke. Luke�s attitude has just gotten worse over time. He thinks he now can do anything he wants just because he has all that money. He even went as far as to have Damion and Sam killed.�

Laura couldn�t help but laugh. The idea of Luke causing Damion and Sam�s deaths when she knew for sure that they did of natural causes it was almost hysterical. �Scott, you have been drinking to much again. Luke isn�t a killer. He didn�t kill Damion or Sam. Now, why don�t stay away from the bottle and back off from my family,� Laura said turning around.

�You were always good at avoiding the truth. I mean, you did marry the man that rapped you,� Scott said coldly.

Scott had moved very close to Laura by this time. Laura turned and slapped him hard across the face. She looked at Scott and said, �I lied the letter. Luke didn�t rape me. In fact, in is hell of a lot better in bed then you were,� Laura said smiling then she left the room. Scott kicked his chair over and stood there fuming for a long time.

Josh had picked BJ up from work that evening. �Hey, how was work?� Josh asked.

�Its ok,� BJ said lying back in the seat.

�BJ, something wrong?� Josh asked.

�No, I�m just tried that is all,� BJ, said.

�Well, you have been working hard lately. How about we skip going out and I just take you home,� Josh said smiling at BJ.

�Ok,� BJ said as she leaned back and closed her eyes to rest.

Kristina went for a run that afternoon. She was still thinking about ending up as Mikkos� daughter. She hadn�t thought about belonging to a family for a long time. Her family pretended to be the perfect family. Her adopted mother was into all the right kind of charitable works and her father was the perfect partner in the perfect law firm but deep down they could careless about each other.

Kristina was hoping that running would help her chase away all these bad thoughts but it didn�t. She was so lost in her won world though that she didn�t catch Zander beside her until they were near the docks. �What? Where did you come from?� She asked startled to see Zander.

�I been here for awhile but it looks you haven�t. What been thinking about?� Zander asked smiling.

�Family,� Kristina said feeling very frustrated.

�I�m not surprised. Still trying figure out if you want to be part of the family or not?� Zander asked smiling.

�Yeah,� Kristina said looking at him frustration. She didn�t what it was about the guy that made her feel so comfortable and frustrated all at the same time.

They stopped about that time and started to walk. �You know it might help if you meet the others before you decided dump us all. Thanksgiving is coming up. Why don�t you come for dinner?� Zander asked her.

�With the entire family?� Kristina asked not sure she wanted to do that.

�Yeah, the entire family. Trust me, we don�t bit. Even though Luke calls Stefan a vampire every now and then,� Zander said laughing.

�Uh?� Kristina asked puzzled by his joke.

�You will learn more about Luke and his personality if you come to dinner,� Zander said grinning.

�Ok, I�ll come,� Kristina, said smiling.

Ruby was on the phone when Mikkos arrived home not in good mood. �Sure, Lila. I love the idea. I�ll by Mikkos and then back with you,� Ruby said as the door slammed and Mikkos stormed inside. �You ok?� she asked as Mikkos went to the bar and poured himself a drink.

�No, I�m going kill someone,� Mikkos snapped as he downed the drink.

�Oh, no. What happened?� Ruby asked walking to her husband and putting her arms around him.

�What happened? I�ll tell you what happened,� Mikkos said pulling away as he started to pace the floor. �Scott Baldwin is what happened!�

�What he did he do?� Ruby asked as she watched Mikkos pace.

�He cornered our grandson in a parking lot and asked him about Alice. I had to learn from Victor that Luke and Laura kept some details from me. Alice did more then just touch him,� Mikkos yelled as he threw his empty glass into the fire.

�Oh,� Ruby said.

�You knew,� Mikkos said reading a lot into her �oh�.

�They didn�t tell me but I guessed that there more to this then just what Lucky said and Mikkos I would let it drop. If Lucky wanted you to know then he would have told you,� Ruby said as she walked to Mikkos and put her arms him again.

�He should have told me,� Mikkos said feeling hurt that Lucky hadn�t trusted him enough to talk to him about all of this.

�Mikkos, I don�t think he talked a lot about this to anyone but Kevin. So, don�t think too much of this. He just didn�t feel comfortable talking to the family about this,� Ruby said gently kissing her husband on the lips.

Mikkos nodded his head and let Ruby guide him to his chair started to rub his back. �I guess what gets me upset the most is Scott himself. He is really trying his luck,� Mikkos said coldly.

�I think he is trying to shove Luke over the edge. I just think he realizes how sick Luke is right now,� Ruby said sadly.

�Luke is getting stronger every day. He will be back on his feet soon but Scott might not be. I might beat him to it,� Mikkos growled.

Ruby smiled and decided to change the subject. �Ok, how about take about Thanksgiving?� Ruby asked him.

�Sure, anything to change my mood. What do you have planned?� Mikkos asked her.

�Lila just called and since Edward, her, you and I aren�t getting any younger she thought having all our family�s together for the holiday would be a good idea. She thought maybe we could have dinner together this year,� Ruby said smiling.

Mikkos turned his head and eyed his wife coldly. �You want to put me and Edward in the same room together?� Mikkos asked her.

�You can put up with Edward for a few hours besides I like the idea. Since your grandson is getting very close to Emily lately,� Ruby said using the Lucky card.

�That�s low,� Mikkos said seeing through her right away.

�I know but it is working isn�t it?� Ruby asked smiling.

�Yes, but I�m going to warn you. You have trouble with Alex and Tracy. The last I heard she still his hovering around Victor and Alex isn�t happy about it,� Mikkos said with a smile.

�Don�t worry about Tracy Lila said she was going to take care of her,� Ruby said kissing Mikkos on the cheek.
