| Chapter 14 Do you think Josh can get Lucky to open up to him? Emily asked BJ as BJ cut through traffic towards the hospital. Dont worry about it. Im sure Lucky isnt still upset with you about Saturday, BJ said. Then why didnt he call me yesterday? Emily asked. You never know with Lucky, BJ said glancing and smiling at her friend. ******************************** Ah, Lucky. I dont mean to butt in between you and Emily but are you mad at her or something? Josh asked as Lucky pulled out the school parking lot. Why would you say that? Lucky asked. Well, she told BJ about the fight you had with her after the dance and since you didnt call her? Josh said. Oh, no! Lucky said suddenly realizing what he had forgotten to do yesterday. He had gone home after his run to call Emily but his Aunt Amy and his father werent exactly getting a long. So, Lucky spent most of the day with his dad. By the time his mother got home, Lucky was just to worn out to do much but sleep. Fighting with his father kind of took a lot out of him sometimes. Josh, Im not mad at her or Im not any more. I really wanted to call her. It is just that things are a bit messed up at home. Dad is a hand full! Oh, so youre not upset about what she said? Josh asked. No, Im not and I still have to talk to her about it. I just havent found the time. I might not get to day call her today either. After I pick Lu up and drop you off. I have to take her to her ridding lesson then go home. Shower and change for my grandfathers party. I might have to talk to her tomorrow at lunch, Lucky said sadly. Josh thought for a moment and said, Look, Ill call Em when I get to the diner. Ill tell you arent mad and that you want to talk. Ill tell her what is going on and that all of this has nothing to do with the fight. Lucky thought about this and said, That sound great. I would really appreciate it. No problem, Josh said and Lucky made the turn towards Lus school. **************************** Nikolas didnt have time to talk to either his father or grandfather all day. It wasnt until about three that afternoon that the three of them were alone in Mikkos office. Well, I think the day went well, Mikkos said. I think so too. We had no complaints, Stefan said smiling. Ah, I had one complaint! Nikolas said smiling. What was that? Stefan asked. Gia called me a bit ticked off. It seems a Mr. Cassadine hired a wedding planner without telling her. Now which one of you tried to get me in to hot water? Nikolas asked eyeing both his father and grandfather. I gave up messing in my children and grandchildrens lives, Mikkos said looking at Stefan. Stefan smiled at his son and said, I was just trying to help. I know you both have been busy. Nikolas groaned and said, Father, I love you but could you butt out of this! Gia and I will get married when we are ready to get married. Nikolas, you do know how family reacts to children born out of wedlock! Stefan said sternly. Yeah, and my son will be bastard of a bastard! Nikolas snapped and he got up and stormed out of the room. Mikkos pat Stefan on the shoulder and said, You are two for two! Stefan glared at his father and said, Go bug Luke! Mikkos smiled at Stefan and left his office. He wasnt going to go find Luke but he was going to talk to Nikolas. Mikkos found Nikolas in his office sitting at his desk acting like he was working but Mikkos saw that look before. It was the same look on Luckys face when he was upset. Mikkos had learned a long time ago that both Lauras sons got her bulliness. Can we talk? Mikkos asked as he sat down in a chair across from Nikolas. Not now grandfather, Nikolas said coldly. Mikkos leaned back and said, He was trying to help. No, he was worried about what the family would think! Nikolas snapped getting up and going to get a file out of his filing cabinet. Nikolas, that isnt fair. Stefan loves you and he wants what is best for you. Gia and you cant sit around and wait for the right time to get married. There is always going to be something going on that will seem off. You want to get married then get married! Mikkos said firmly. We were waiting until Luke gets better. I dont think my mother is in the mood for a wedding, Nikolas said as he walked back to his desk. Mikkos smiled and said, You might have a long wait because no one knows when Luke will get better if he will ever will. Besides, I think Laura needs to think about something other then Luke. Give her a wedding to look forward to. Nikolas sat there thinking about this for a moment then asked. Are you sure? Im sure, Mikkos said smiling at his grandson. Ok, Ill talk to Gia about it, Nikolas said smiling a bit. Good and dont forget to talk to your father. Dont let this stay between you! Mikkos told his grandson and he got up to leave. That an order? Nikolas asked. It is a command! Mikkos said and he walked out of the office. ********************************** Carly, are you sure you want to go? Jason asked as they drove to pick the twins up from school. Yes, Im going. Jason, I cant hide any more. I know people are going to stare at me but Im tried of hiding. Im going to show these people that Im Victors daughter, Carly said firmly. Well, Ill be right at your side, Jason said picking up Carlys hand and kissed it. I know you will, Carly said with a bright smile on her face. *********************************** Scott was at his desk at when the Mayor walked in his office. Here, the Mayor said as he placed an envelope on Scotts desk. Whats this? Scott asked holding up the envelope. It is your invitation to the Cassadines family party. Their new company is up and running. You are going, The Mayor ordered. Scott looked at the invitation and said, Alright. Good, the Mayor said and he left the office. Scott sat back in his chair and thought about going to meet Lukes new family. He couldnt help but wonder if Laura was going to be there. ****************************** Six oclock that evening, Lucky ran into the penthouse and up the stairs. Lu came in behind her. She didnt look too happy. Whats wrong? Laura asked her daughter. I think Lucky is mad at me. I made him late for school and now he is going to be late for grandpas party, Lu said sadly. Dont worry about it, honey. Lucky is just grumpy, Mrs. Carlson said as she took Lus hand and took her into the kitchen to have her supper. You be good, Laura said to Luke as she walked up the stairs to go check on Lucky. Luke stuck his tongue out at his wife. He knew it was childish but he felt like a child at this moment. He couldnt do anything without someones help. It was starting to wish that he had died because this wasnt life. It wasnt want he wanted from it. Laura went up stairs. Lucky was in the shower and his tux was on his bed. Lucky, Yeah, Lucky called out from the shower. He had on a waterproof cast but it was still hard trying to clean up and with one hand. It was almost impossible. I need to talk to you when youre done, Laura said. Mom, Im going to be late, Lucky said. Youll be late. It is no big deal. We need to talk, Laura said. Ok, let me finish here, Lucky said. Lucky walked out of the bathroom moments later with his robe on and drying his hair with a towel. Whats up? Whats going on with you and Lu? Laura asked. Nothing, Lucky said shaking his head with confusion. Lu said you are mad at her, Laura said firmly. Oh, that. It is no big deal. Josh was picking on me about being late. Lu thinks she caused it, Lucky said laughing as he grabbed his brush to brush his hair. You didnt yell at her at all? Laura asked. No, I wouldnt do that. Mom, look. She knows I have to go out tonight. She kept on saying she was sorry for making me late. I told her it was cool but I know she didnt believe me, Lucky said turning around to face his mother. Well, Ill talk to her, Laura said kissing Lucky on the cheek then leaving to let him get ready. Lu has been very sensitive since they got back from Russia. Laura knew it was because of Luke and the mood he was in all the time. Laura tired to figure out what to do about it but came up with nothing so far. How do you explain to a child Lus age that the reason dad was so grumpy was because of how things were with himself not what other people did? Chapter 15 Back to Affairs of the Heart |
