Chapter 11

Lucky knew that his grandfather had bought him a new car but had no idea what kind it was until he arrived home. This car unlike his last one was bought with Lauras blessing. Laura knew that Lucky had trashed his engine in his other car getting her to the hospital. Laura thought that Lucky did deserve and need a car. This car was a jag. It was midnight black with chrome wheels and trim. Lucky fell in love the moment he saw it. As Lucky pulled out of the parking garage he called Joshs cell phone. Hey, buddy where are you? Lucky asked when Josh picked up.

At Kellys, Josh said. You?

In my car. Where are the girls? Lucky asked.

With me. So, you finally landed, Josh, said mouthing to Emily and BJ that he was talking to Lucky.

Yeah, Ill be right over, Lucky said and he ended the conversation with Josh.

Josh hung up as well and looked at the girls. Lucky is home. He is coming over.

Finally, BJ said.

Yeah, but Im surprised he is coming over. I thought he would spent the first night home with his father, Emily said.

Well, we will find out why Lucky left because he is coming right over, Josh said grabbing a chili cheese fry and shoving it into his mouth.

A little while later, Emily, Josh and BJ got their first look at Lucky for mouths. What shocked them was how much Lucky changed. Either they didnt see it while they were with him or he had done a complete change over in those few weeks. Lucky wore a long camel skin coat with a tweed jacket under neigh. He also had on a black turtleneck with the Cassadine family medallion hanging around his neck. He looks like one of the family, BJ said shocked that Lucky had changed so much since she last saw him.

He just didnt change, Josh said not thinking too much of his friends appearance.

Yeah, he just didnt change clothes, Emily said trying to block out her mothers words. Em, Lucky is growing up. He is growing into his roll as prince.

Hey, Lucky said taking off his coat and hanging it on the coat rack then he walked towards the table. How things going?

Full of work, Josh said as Lucky sat down in the chair between the girls.

Same here, Emily said as she leaned over and kissed Lucky.

I havent started yet but Im looking forward to it, BJ said.

I bet. Do you know what Stefan has planned for you yet? Lucky asked.

No. All I know is that Im not in the mail room, BJ said smiling.

Well, do me a favor and dont go in there saying that Im Stefans daughter. Go in there and work, Lucky said smiling at her. He didnt want to preach but he knew BJ. She sometimes opened her mouth without thinking. This could and most of the time did get her into a lot of trouble.

I wont, BJ promised. What about you? Why arent you with your old man?

Dads sleeping and mom told me to go out, Lucky said smiling.

How is Luke? Josh asked.

He is ok. He gets grumpy sometimes but that is normal for him, Lucky said lying through his teeth. Lucky didnt know this but his friends knew the truth about Lukes condition. They were just trying to get him to talk about his feelings. The trouble was Lucky just wasnt in the mood to talk about anything at this moment. Courtney walked up and asked for their order. Lucky noticed that during all of this time Emily was tight and almost unresponsive. When Courtney was gone, Lucky leaned over to Emily and asked, You ok?

That is Courtney, Emily said her jaw tight. She hadnt seen AJ yet and planned on not seeing him. Emily could careless that her brother was back in town. What got to Emily the most was how could Courtney marry him? How could anyone love him after what he did to her and this family?

Oh, Lucky said looking at Courtney trying to read the girl. She wasnt exactly what Lucky thought she would be like. He was wondering what Courtney saw in AJ that made her marry him.

The teens talked and ate trying to decide what they wanted to do. It was decided that they would go to a movie. The teens took Luckys car to the movie leaving the other cars at the diner. They spent the rest of the evening together enjoying their first evening back together.

Lucky and Emily were heading home later that evening. Lucky was driving and Emily was playing with the end of her coat. Lucky? she said in a lost voice.

Yeah? Lucky asked.

What do you think about being prince? Emily asked laying her head on Luckys shoulder.

Lucky drove thinking about this. He hadnt thought about it lately. He was used to it or he thought he was. Lucky was comfortable being Lukes son and Mikkos grandson. So, Mikkos was a prince by blood making him the next in line. He wasnt going to run the family but he would still be the center attention. It was his lot in life at least that is how Lucky saw it. It is who I am. What is there to think about? Lucky said bluntly.

Emily didnt comment. She just sighed and leaned closer to her. Lucky didnt realize this but his comment bothered Emily. She didnt know why it did. It didnt change how she felt about him but what changed was that she realized if she took her and Luckys relationship to the next level. She too was going to have to except his life as prince.

Alex finally found her new home. Victor had bought the new penthouse just a few weeks ago. He hadnt done much to the place or that is what he told her on the phone last time they talked. What he didnt tell her was that his new project was now covering wall in the living room.

Alex walked into a nightmare. There were pictures of dead girls on one wall and mug shots of men on the other. He even had prints out telling of the girls last movements before they died on the walls as well. Victor, you home? Alex called out walking in and looking around at her new home. Victor came out of the bedroom dressed in jeans and a t-shirt. Victor, what are you doing? Alex asked him.

Im looking for my daughters attacker. The PCPD cant do the job. So, Im going to do it for them! This guy has been attacking girls over the last five mouths and all but Carly was found dead, Victor said to his wife as he kissed her.

A serial killer? Alex said stunned.

More like serial rapist killer, Victor said going to a wall where there was a map of the city. It had marks on it marking where every girl was attacked and killed.

Victor, dont you think you are taking this hunt a bit out of hand? Alex said wrapping her arms around him.

You wouldnt say that if that was Zander this creep attacked. This bastard craved her face up and left her for dead. I learned from the police report that if Jason hadnt pulled into that garage. He would have ended her life right then and there. No one Alex does that to my kid! I mean no one! Victor said his voice still laced with rage. Alex didnt comment. She knew Victor well enough to know not to push anything when he was in that type of mood. She just dropped the subject and went to the bedroom to rest.

The next day was Saturday and even then work was going on at the Cassadines new building. Monday was going to be their big grand opening and there was still a lot of work to be done.

Kristina was supervising the work that was being done on Mikkos office. It hadnt taken her long to line up what Mikkos wanted done to it. She had guessed almost everything that he would have picked out. She was surprised that she had gotten it right but was grateful as well. It would take twice as long to get it done other wise.

Zander suddenly appeared in the doorway and knocked on the doorframe. Working hard? He asked her.

What? Kristina said turning around to see Zander standing there smiling at him. Ah, yes. I am. We have a lot to do. Do you need anything?

No, I was just wondering if you worked all night? Zander asked smiling.

No, I dont plan on it, Kristina said wondering what he was up to.

Good because before I flew out to make sure the prince didnt hit a reporter. I wanted to ask you out that is if you are willing? Zander said grinning.

Sure, when? Kristina asked.

Tonight? Zander replied.

Kristina laughed at this and said, You are a real fast worker.

No grass under these feet, Zander said holding up one leg to show the bottom of his shoe.

Kristina laughed a bit more and then said, Ok, what do you have in mind?

Nothing major, just dinner and maybe dancing, Zander said.

I have been dying to go to that blues club in town. How about that for the dancing? Kristina asked Zander.

Lukes. Yeah, we can go there, Zander, said wondering if her love of blues was just a coincidence or could she really be Lukes long lost sister.

Ok, what time will you pick me up? Kristina asked.

Seven and I know where you live, Zander said and he turned and left. Kristina couldn't help but smile. She thought he was cute and going out and having fun was exactly what she needed.

******************************************

Lucky came down about ten that morning. He kind of over slept. He chalked it up to a case of jet lag or was it that he gotten in about one that morning. Either way he was beat. Lucky found his father sitting by the fireplace with his back to the stairs. Mrs. Carlson was dusting. Good your up. I need to get your tux to the cleaners for Mondays party, Mrs. Carlson said smiling at Lucky.

I forgot about that party. I need to ask Emily if she wants to join me, Lucky said as she walked to the chair that was beside his father and said, Morning?

Forget about trying to talk to the grump. He is mad at the world, Mrs. Lansberry said as she headed up stairs.

Lucky smiled at the maid and turned to his father. Luke hadnt replied and in fact he hadnt even shown any sign that he knew Lucky was talking to him. Whats wrong dad wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning? Lucky asked him. Lucky had reached out to touch his father but Luke had just pulled away from him. Ok, be that way, Lucky said and he went to find himself some breakfast. A little bit later after eating. Lucky took a puzzle off the counter and carried it towards his father. The puzzle is used to help hand-eye coordination. Luke by this time had turned the chair away from the fire but he still hadnt said too much to anyone. Lucky put the tray up on the chair and then placed the puzzle down on top of it. Here lets try this, Lucky said smiling. Luke just knocked the puzzle on to the ground. Thats ok. Ill pick it up, Lucky said trying hard not to show this frustration. He knew his father was being bully about all of this. The trouble was Luke forgot that Lucky could be just as bully. Lucky was on his knees picking up the puzzle. What happened next could have been accident or on purpose that depends on whom you talked to. Lucky was on his knees picking up the puzzle pieces when Luke moved the chair forward and wheeled over Luckys hand. Ah, shit! Lucky yelled. Dad get off my hand!

Mrs. Carlson ran into the room right then. Oh, dear, she said as she rushed to Lukes chair and moved it off Luckys hand. You ok? she asked looking down at the teen.

Yeah, Im fine, Lucky, said looking at his father. Luke had tears in his eyes. Its ok pop. I wasnt good at driving that thing either, Lucky said rubbing his hand.

Let me get some ice, Mrs. Carlson said looking at Luke coldly. Unlike Lucky, she thought that Luke had done it on proposes. He had been in one ripe mood all day. It had taken everything Laura had to get him to eat this morning. In fact the reason Laura and Lu werent around was because of Lukes mood. They had taken off to get away for a while. So, it didnt take much for Mrs. Carlson to think that Luke had run over his sons hand on purpose.

Sorry, Luke said in a broken voice to his son.

Its ok. Come on, Ill help you into bed. Maybe a nap will change your mood, Lucky said he pushed the chair towards the room.

**********************************

Emily and BJ had gone shopping. Tonight was the night of the fall school dance. You ok? BJ asked as the girls looked at dresses.

Yes, sure. Why do you ask? Emily asked putting back the dress she was looking at.

Because you havent said one word since I picked you up, BJ said with a concerned look on her face towards her friend.

Emily sighed heavily then asked, BJ do you see in Lucky?

A change in Lucky? You mean the clothes? BJ asked.

Not just clothes. I think there is more to it then that, Emily said not knowing what the change was but she knew it was there.

I have seen it but it isnt major. Lucky same person deep down, BJ said.

I know. I guess I have been listening to my mother to long, Emily said and she shook of her mood and the girls went on with their shopping.

************************

Ouch, Lucky said as his Aunt Bobbie put a cast on his hand. Laura found out what had happened and insisted that they go to the hospital. Luckys hand was broken.

Sorry, Bobbie said finishing up.

Well, at least it is my left hand, Lucky said with a smile on his face.

Thats a plus, Bobbie said cleaning up. You stay put and let that dry. Ill be back, Bobbie said patting Lucky on the back then leaving.

Bobbie walked out and found Laura sitting on a bench reading a paper.
How is Lucky? Laura asked.

It is broken. We put a cast on it but it should be ok, Bobbie said eyeing Laura.

I know what you are thinking and Mrs. Carlson said the same thing but I dont see Luke hurting his own son, Laura said firmly.

I dont want think about it either but the mood he has been in? Im not so sure, Bobbie said.

I know, Laura said smiling. Can I take Lucky home?

Yes, you can take him home, Bobbie said and she went to get Lucky ready to go home.
