| Chapter Four Two days later, Mac was going over papers on his desk. When he ran across a strange manila envelope. He opened it up and began to read the papers that were inside. Oh my God. He explained. V. Get in here. Mac yelled. Mac whats wrong. V asked running into the room. Everything. Go get Dara and have her to come to my office. Right now. He ordered. V and get me Dallas Texas General Hospital. I need to ask them a few things. He said. When she left, Mac picked up the papers again. I dont believe it. If this is true then things were going to get worse. Much worse. he said Lucky was lying on the couch in Alexis suit. His arm hurt as bad as it did the first night and he was having trouble getting comfortable. Alexis entered right then with a stack of papers in here arms. Your up she asked. Good. Are you hungry Ill order us some room service. She said putting down the papers and going to the phone. No not right now. Alexis, I was trying to find something to listen to. Who is that lady sing on the tape in your stereo? he asked. Thats my mother. She was killed by Helena, she said sadly. Why? He asked trying to sit up more. She was Mikkos lover and Helena was jealous. After my mother was killed, I was taken to Cassadine Island. There I grew up an outsider and Ive never known why. Until just last year, I learned the truth. She explained. So, youve been lied to your hole life to. Lucky said sadly. Lucky? Im going to tell you something, that must stay between us. At least until, I figure out what to do about it, Alexis said very seriously. And dont enter up. Until Im done talking. Sure. Whats up? he asked. (The next part is what Alexis tells Lucky.) A little over fifteen years ago, I was living in Dallas, Texas. I worked in a law firm there and one night a group of us went out to a bar. The day had been long and very trying. I had a little too much to drink. Later on in the night, I started to talk with this man. He just had a very bad fight with his wife. One thing led to another and we ended up in bed. We never expected to meet after that night. I only knew his first name and a month later I discovered that I was pregnant. I knew the second that I found out I would have the baby, but didnt know if I would keep it or not. On one of my appointments, I ran into the man from the bar. He was there with his wife and I got the shock of my life. He had lied about his name. This man was a mortal enemy of the Cassadines. He asked about who the father was and I told him. I also told him about myself. The whole time, his wife was in with the doctor. She never knew of our night and most probably never found out. He talked me into keeping touch and promised to find a safe place for my baby. After what, I learned keeping the baby was out of the question any of them would have found out. The child and me would have been killed. The night the baby was born. I called him and he met me at the hospital. After the birth of our son, He called and checked up on his wife. Learning she had just gone into premature labor. Their baby boy was born dead. He talked me into switching the children. He would raise his son and would keep in touch with me. Over the years, he sent me pictures and letters Alexis got up and grabbed a box from the desk drawers. Lucky, I never wanted to lie about you, but if any of the Cassadines would have found out. We all were dead. I kept these to remind me of how much. I had given up for your safety, she said handing him the box. Lucky slowly took the box and opened it. He hadnt said a word. Half way threw Alexis story. He did figure out most of it, but the fact that she was his mother and not Laura did come a complete surprise. He didnt know what to say or do. He just started to look threw the box trying to put everything in some kind of order. While Luckys life was being shattered, Luke got a surprise visitor. Commissioner Bubba is this business or pleasure. Luke asked as Mac sat down at the bar. Luke. I have a summons for you to appear at Stefan Cassadines trial and have a court order to take Lucky in for his own protection. He said lying to papers on the bar. You what? Luke said in complete shock. Luke before you blow up. I promise everything will be explained tomorrow. I cant tell you the details but I think it would be wise for you to stay here tonight. Mac warned. Mac? What is wrong? Are you afraid that Laura would harm Lucky, or me because if that is so. You need a vacation. She would never do anything to hurt any of us. He said. What about Luckys accident? Mac asked. Who told you and what do they say? Luke demanded. Nikolas and all he told me is that Lucky was badly hurt and was staying at Alexis place. Mac replied. The kid should stay out of things that dont concern him. Luke snarled. Luke. What happened and dont tell me Lucky had just been slapped and lost his balance. We both know it couldnt happen. Mac said moving even closer. Get out Bubba. Laura would never hurt our son. Youre protecting him from the wrong people. It is the Cassadines that mean him harm. Luke said pointing to the door. Luke, I am doing this for the best of everyone. You will understand more in court. Mac said walking out of the bar. Chapter 5 Back to What's the truth |
