| Chapter Thirty Alexis did file to get custody of Lucky and they did end up in court just two days before she and Ned were to get married. Luke tried to get Laura to give in but she wouldn't. Lucky had had it with his mother. He wanted to see Alexis and he was going to. Lucky did approach the subject of schools with Luke and got he the reaction he was expecting. He realized that maybe Alexis was right and went along with the court case. He didn't want to lose his parents but he wasn't going give into them either. Lucky sat in the small courtroom felling like he was a trader. He didnt know how to change the events though. He loves his parents but his still had this need to get to know Alexis. Justice Ward got up and called Laura to the stand. Lucky watched her with a shock look on his face. She was going at Alexis with everything she had. Mrs. Spencer. Why are you opposed to your son seeing Miss Davis? Justice asked. I dont trust the Cassadines. I was forced to give up my son to them and was threaten all my life. Lucky isnt thinking clearly because of what Victor Cassadine did to him not too far back, Laura stated. Could you please elaborate on that? Justice asked her. Victor Cassadine kidnapped my son and abused him for weeks. He was also poisoning him. Lucky almost died and he is still experiencing side effects from the poison, Laura said. Thank you, Mrs. Spencer. I have no more questions. Your witness, Justice said. Alexis' lawyer got up and asked, Mrs. Spencer. Miss Davis didnt have anything to do with your life being threatened or any of what you just said for that matter. What did she do to you or your family personally? Laura just sat there and quietly said, Nothing. Did you and your husband sign this document? the lawyer asked handing her the document. Yes, but Laura was suddenly cut off. I have no more questions, the lawyer said. The judge dismissed her and Justice called Luke to the stand. Mr. Spencer. Could you tell the court how you and Mrs. Spencer ended up with Miss Davis and your son? Justice asked. Alexis and I had a one night stand. I didnt even know who she was until months later. When I learned the truth and found out she was pregnant. I got scared and not because of what my wife would have said. Miss Davis is Cassadine and they hate my guts. They have even threaten my life and the lives of my family. If any of her family got wind that she was carrying my child and it was certain the baby would have ended up dead. I made a deal with her that I would find a place for the baby and keep it safe. I told my wife that night about Alexis and me. She was angry but agreed that the baby should not suffer because of me. She was willing to open our home and raise that child with her own. It didnt work out that way. Laura went into labor the same night Lucky was born and our child died. She looked at him and fell completely and utterly in love. Alexis named him Lucas Lorenzo after me but Laura called him Lucky. She said it fit how she felt. Her child died but God gave her Lucky. I dont mind Alexis seeing him but I dont want to turn him over to her. Helena and Stavros Cassadine havent been seen and they still are a great threat in his safety, Luke explained. You think if that Miss Davis cant protect him the way you can? Justice asked. She couldn't protect herself. How is she going to protect him? Luke said. Thank you. I have no more questions, Justice said. Mr. Spencer. What were you doing in Texas at the time Lucas was born? the lawyer asked. We were hiding from the mob, Luke said. Lucas lived over half his life hiding from the mob didnt he? the lawyer asked. Yes. Luke said. Thank you. I have no more questions, the lawyer said. Justice closed his case and Alexiss lawyer called Lucky to the stand. Do you want to be called Lucky or Lucas? the lawyer asked. Lucky, He said. You lived a interesting life. Tell the court how you came to Port Charles? the lawyer asked. I came home one day and my parents left me message. It was a warning the trouble had struck. I grabbed my bag, the money, and some other stuff. Then headed to Port Charles, Lucky said. Alone and how old were you at this time? the lawyer asked. Yes. I didnt meet up with them until weeks later and I was thirteen, Lucky said. How many times were you shot? the lawyer asked. Twice, Lucky said. He went on asking Lucky about his childhood. He didnt leave any thing out. The longer Lucky talked the more he felt like a trader. He wanted to yell his parents werent as bad as this guy was painting them but couldnt. When Justice got his chance Lucky was tired and just wanted this whole mess to end. Lucky. Do you love your parents and think that they love you? Justice asked. I love them with all my heart and never doubt that love me. We might have had our troubles but we were always there for each other, Lucky said. Thanks and you can get down. I have no more questions, Justice said. An hour later, Alexis and Ned walked out of the courtroom with smiles on their faces. Lucky was happy but his heart felt heavy, too. Alexis had just become his legal guardian and Luke & Laura lost all rights to him. Lucky could see them anytime he wanted and he didn't have to change his name but he was now going to live under Alexis' roof. Part of Lucky wished none this had happened and that things could have worked out. He looked back as Luke left the courtroom and locked eyes with his father. He was trying to read him but couldn't. Lucky quickly ran to catch up with Alexis and Ned. Luke watched him leave and waited for Laura and the others to join him. "I tried to warn you but you wouldn't listen to me. Angel, I'm not wrong all the time and now we just lost our son, most likely, for good," Luke told her. "I don't believe this happen. How could the judge give him to her?" Laura asked. "Simple. I'm an ex crook and you have been charged with murder twice and we couldn't prove you didn't push him over that railing," Luke said and headed to the exit. Laura watched him go and realized he was right. She did take this too far and now Lucky was gone most probably forever. Alexis, Ned and Lucky were celebrating at the Port Charles Grill. The two adults didn't notice how quiet Lucky was but a figure in the corner noticed and shook her head. "I don't believe how messed up this has gotten," Bobbie Spencer said to Jerry Jax. "How messed up what has gotten?" He asked. "My brother's wife, Laura. She pushed Alexis and now Lucky is paying the price. I understand part of her problem with Alexis but on the other had I understand Lucky's points. I'm torn because I adopted both BJ and Lucas, but because of Carly I understand the biological parent's side too. I just wish Laura would have just let things go and let things calm down, but now Lucky has just lost the only family he ever know," Bobbie said. "I read about the other problems in the paper and he might be safer with her?" Jerry told Bobbie. "Why do you say that?" she asked. "Bobbie, don't get me wrong. I like your brother but his wife did try to hurt him and I don't by the double act at all," Jerry said. "Jerry, there was a double and Luke wouldn't let anyone hurt his son and that includes Laura," Bobbie said. "I hope you are right but we can't change things now. How about enjoying our lunch and forgetting about everyone else?" Jerry suggested. Bobbie smiled at him and forgot about Lucky for the moment. Lucky looked at Ned and Alexis. "I'm going to go see Lizzie. I'll see you two later tonight. I'll be in around ten," Lucky said and got up to leave. Ned reached in his pocket and grabbed a set of keys. "Tell the parking attendant your name and give him these. The car is yours, from Alexis and me," Ned said handing him the keys. "Thanks, Ned," Lucky said, grabbing the keys and he ran out of the room to check out the car. Ned and Alexis watched him and they both laughed. "Ned, I hope I did the right thing. I wouldn't have sued for custody if Laura would have just let me get to know my son," Alexis said. "Don't worry about it. You did what you had to and Lucky doesn't blame you. He still gets to see his parents, while you just get to give him things without asking first," Ned told her. Alexis agreed and remembered the look on Lucky's face when Ned gave him the keys. She would have loved to see his reaction to the car. Lucky's car was all black and it was a 1964 Stingray and it was in top condition. The windows were tinted and the interior was a light gray. He couldn't see a flaw anywhere. (My dream car. I couldn't help it.) He was in shock and never dreamed he could have a car like this before. Lucky sat behind the wheel and smiled a cocky smile. He couldn't wait to see Lizzie's reaction when he pulled up in front of the house in this. Lucky stopped in front of Lizzie's house and got out of the car. He walked up to the door and rang the doorbell. Lizzie opened it and looked in shock at the car. "You came in that? Did you steal it?" Lizzie asked him. "I didn't steal it. Alexis and Ned gave it to me," Lucky told her. "How about going for a drive?" Lucky asked, holding up the keys. She smiled and quickly left to tell her parents she would be back in about a few hours. Lucky opened the door for her and she climbed in. "Thank you sir," Lizzie said with a laugh. Lucky got behind the wheel and they drove off. Lucky did have to stop by his old house to grab some of his stuff, so they headed to the Spencer's first. Alexis sold the house she had bought and got one in a better part of town. Lucky understood why she did that because staying that close to Luke and Laura could have been a problem. Luke got one look at the car and his blood ran cold. "Alexis was buying his love and Lucky didn't see it," Luke thought. "Hi, dad," Lucky said a little awkwardly. "Hi, Cowboy," Luke said. "I came to get some of my stuff and I wanted to say I didn't want any of this to happen. I just wanted a chance to get to know Alexis," Lucky explained. "I know Cowboy, don't worry about it and do me a favor and drive carefully in that thing," Luke said pointing to the car. "I will," Lucky promised. "Is mom home?" "No. She is at the park with Lulu. We had a big fight and she needed a break," Luke said. "About me?" Lucky asked. "About how she handled everything," Luke said. "I'm sorry about that. I'll be right back down. Lizzie is in the car waiting. You can check it out if you want to?" Lucky said throwing him the keys and he ran into the house. Luke walked over to the car and leaned into the window. "Hi, Lizzie. What do you think of the car?" Luke asked. "It's great but I think Alexis is trying too hard. She could have picked something less What's the word?" Lizzie asked. "Flashy!" Luke said. "Yes, flashy," Lizzie agreed. "He loves you and Laura. You do know that?" Lizzie said. "I know and she does too. We have been through worse than this. We will get through it," Luke said. A little while later, Luke watched them drive away and he felt like he was losing everything he loved. Alexis was going to give Lucky the world and he was afraid it would change him. Luke couldn't blame Lucky. He spent most of his life on the run because of Luke. He wished he could have given Lucky a car like that but he couldn't. He would love to send Lucky to the college of his dreams but it wasn't possible. Lucky suffered a lot because of him and now Alexis & Ned were going to make up for all that. Luke also realized that Alexis now had both his sons. One didnt know him and the other just wanted a place to belong. He messed somewhere but he could figure out where. He didnt regret ever sleeping with Alexis because that event gave him Lucky and he would never change that but he did wish Laura was his mother and not Alexis. Chapter 31 Back to What's the Truth? |
