Ok I know I've been horrible with the fan fic.  Simply horrible.  But with everything that's going on in the show I haven't been too motivated.  I left a couple of holes in the explanation, but I didn't want to give too much away.  I'm sure I changed a bit of history around to fit my story.

Chapter 2

"Marriage Certificate!"  She yelled. It felt as if she was in a daze, a dream, well nightmare.  This couldn't be happening.  It just wasn't possible.  She laughed. "This is fake, A. J.   There is no way that this is real.  I filed for divorce a long time ago.  Nice try."  She threw the papers back at him.  "Now get out of my house."  She turned her back to him.

"Did you ever see the papers, Carlybabes?"  She heard him say.

    "I signed a final copy..."

"No, I didn't say that.  Did you ever see it after it was filed?  After it went through the courts?" When he didn't get an answer, he took it as a no. "Didn't think so."

"Whatever A. J.   Its bogus.  So I didn't see the final papers.  You think I'm actually going to believe that Sonny didn't file them?"  She turned around and looked at him incredulously.  She kept her ground and looked tough.  Meanwhile in the inside her heart just fell into her stomach.  She knew it was ludicrous-her still married to A. J.   There was no logical way, but the thought that it was possible...

"You're right, Carly."  He said coming closer to her.  "Sonny wouldn't do that," He tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear.  When she shuddered, he grinned. He leaned in and lowered his voice.  "but Alexis would."

Alexis's Penthouse

For some reason today she had that feeling again.  Except it was different this time.  It was stronger.

"That's it.  Today is the day.  She finds out today."  She stated out loud, grabbing her coat, but as always that little nagging voice said "Are you crazy?  Do you know what will happen to you if you tell her?"  She rationed with herself that Sonny would protect her. " You really must be off the rocker, here. You think he would?"  That voice said again.  "After would you did?  Even if he did, there is no amount of protection to save you."  She threw her coat back down, knowing that was the truth.  She sank down into her chair and cupped her face with her hands.

"What am I going to do?"

    Back at Carly's house

      "Alexis?"  She managed to whisper.

"Yeah.  High and mighty lawyer Alexis.  The one that Sonny trusted oh so much."

      "She wouldn't..."

"But you see, she kinda did.  These papers, they show that she did."

      "No, no A. J.   You're lying."

"Nope. If you're not sure, call Alexis herself, wifey."  He snickered as he made his way to the door.  "Oh yeah, forgot to mention."  He turned around.  " The adoption papers?  The papers giving you full custody, they don't exist.  Have a nice day." He smiled as he bumped into Jax.  "You too, Jax have a super day.  Sure know I did."

Jax eyed A. J suspiciously, but soon forgot about him when he came upon Carly.  Who just stood there. She wanted to move, to say something, or even feel something, but she couldn't.

"Carly?  What's wrong?  What did he say to you?"  Jax hurried over to her.

She slowly looked on the floor where the papers laid.  Jax followed and looked down as well. He saw some papers lying on the floor.

      "What are those Carly?"

Hearing Jax's voice, it all hit-hard. She didn't know what to do.  She wanted to laugh at her luck.  Of course this would happen. Of course!
She wanted to cry because she was married to A. J.   She wanted to cry for a million other things.  Cry for her son. Cry for everything. Cry for herself, even.  But she was angry.  She wanted to yell and scream and throw things.  In the end the anger won.

"I don't know, Jax.  Why don't you ask your wife."  She bitterly replied.

"What?  What are they?  I don't under..."

"Understand this Jax!" She yelled.  "Your wife-the one who told Sonny that he could trust her-betrayed him!  Betrayed me!" She was beyond the point of angry now. She wasn't sure if they came up with a word to describe what she was feeling.

      "I don't..."

"Want me to make it real clear for you?"  She flung her arms wildly. "She lied.  She lied to me-to everyone!"

"Carly! What are you talking about?"  He said, grabbing her forearms, steadying her.  She shook him off and walked away.  She bent down and came back.  She thrust the papers in front of his face.

"She screwed me over!  She f***** up with my life without even letting me know!  More importantly my son's!"

He grabbed the papers out of her hands.  He skimmed through it and got the jest of it.  It mainly said she was still legally married to Alan Jr. Quatermaine. He laughed.

"You think this is funny, Jax?  You think that your wife messing with my life is funny!?!!!?"

"Carly," He said.  "They're fake.  There's no way Alexis would do that! Why?  It doesn't make sense!  What would Alexis get out of that?  She likes you!"

"But she did!  I saw A. J.   I saw the look in his eyes. You didn't!  It was a victorious look.  Like he won.  That he finally beat me." She whispered the last part. "And he did."

"Carly.  You're nuts.  There's no way these are legal.  No way.  Come on we'll go to Wyndemere.  You'll see the papers."  He said as he dragged her out.

"No.  I can't leave Michael.  I'm taking him with me."  She murmured as she ran up the stairs to get him.
