| Chapter Ten Lucky faces the consequences Lucky was sitting on the dock thinking about how messed up his life became and just because he would not talk to his father. Luke walked up and sat down beside him. He was unsure what to say. So, Luke just placed the pictures on Luckys legs. Where did you get these. Lucky asked in disbelief. (You better talk) Sonny has all of Demons stuff. We just found them. Lucky, why didnt you tell me. We could have worked things out together. Luke asked. Tell you? Sonny wanted to put me in the river and you wanted to mix the cement. Mac wanted to put me in jail and loose the keys. I tried hundreds of times but the deeper I got. The harder it was to get out. The day we fought. I went to Demons and told him it was over. I also told him. I was going to tell you everything. He went ballistic. He grabbed me and the next thing I knew he was dead. Dad, I swear I didnt set out to kill him. I just wanted the lies to stop. I panicked. All I could think of was that I killed Demon. I grabbed the pictures and some of his money and ran. By the time I came to my senses it was to late. I have been running from Demon ever since. Lucky said looking at his father. It wasnt to late. All you had to do was call me and we would have worked things out. Nothing you did was enough for me to turn my back on you. Luke said. I almost killed my mother and sister, yelled Lucky getting up and walking away. No. Demon did all that. He used a fourteen-year-old boy to do his dirty work because he was too scared to do it himself. The only thing you did wrong was not to come to your parents for help. Luke said walking up besides his son. He was careful not to reach out for him. Dad. Im going to the cops and tell them everything. Lucky said stopping besides Lukes Club. Your what? Yelled Luke. Lucky, Demon has been dead for two years. Telling the truth now is not going to help anyone. Before he could go on the letter L from his sign fell missing him and Lucky. (Luke shut up. Telling the truth is what he is supposed to do.) Luke just looked at the sign. How did that happened? he wondered. Dad are you all right? Yes, Cowboy. Now about talking to the police. I guess, I cant talk you out of it right. I ask only one thing will talk to Mac at home. If he agrees not to press charges well drop this hole mess. Luke said. Lucky agreed and they headed to Macs. Luke hoped Mac would see this as he did or he hated to think of telling Laura about Lucky being in jail. I just might have Mac lock me up to. Luke thought. (Dont worry things are in good hands.) Luke and Lucky arrived at Macs and Katherine just after dusk. Bubba, We need to talk to you. Luke said walking into the house. Whats up Spencer, asked Mac. Lucky paced the room as he told Mac the truth. You were the one delivering those packages? asked Katherine. Im sorry Katherine. Demon threatened to tell everyone about the fire. I just didnt have the guts to face everyone. So, I just did what he wanted. Lucky explained. Lucky, its all right. I know Demon and he disserved to die, she said. Turning to Mac. And if you lock him up. I would find a new place to sleep because darling, you will not be sleeping here. (Good girl. You tell him.) Mac just looked at her, Kat. But he started to say something but the look he got shut him up. (Smart move.) Lucky this will stay between us. If you do a few things for me. One from this point on. NO MORE GAMBLING and you will work at the Ward House for the next year on your free time. Also you will find a way to pay off everyone you stole from. he said. Ok, Mac, but why? he asked. Simple. That snake disserved to die and to tell the truth I thought about doing it myself. Mac explained. Lucky and Luke left leaving the Scorpios alone. A ghostly figure stood in the street light. She looked up in the sky as a shooting star shot across the sky. Good luck, Lucky. I hope youll have a good life, but if you ever need me. Ill be there. with that Mary Mae Ward disappeared from sight. Lucky, who is David? asked Luke looking strangely at his son. Lucky could not help but laugh. Dad, David runs that refuge for kids. He has been trying to get me off the streets and call home for months. The money I gave him was for my girlfriend Amber. Laughed Lucky. Girlfriend? Boy do we have to talk. said Luke.
