| Chapter Three Sudden deaths Robert had just put down his glass when his phone rang. Scorpio. he said into it. What? When? Dont touch anything and make sure no one leaves. Ill be right there. Robert hung up the phone and looked sadly at Luke. Luke. Its Ruby she has been hit by a car. The driver just drove off. She was about a block from her place when it happened. Shes dead, he said putting a hand on his friends shoulder. Luke picked up a bottle and threw it across the room. They all knew who was responsible and why it happened. That snake. He wanted her to tell me and then he just got rid of her. I promise he is going to regret ever messing with me. Luke promised running out the door. Ruby was buried a few days later. The funeral was the most mourned in Port Charles history. Everyone from the street kids who hung out behind Kellys to the Upper Class paid their respects. Luke had told Bobbie what Ruby had told him before she was killed. Bobbie could have carried less. Luke was going to be her brother until the day she died and nothing no one said was changing anything. After funeral Luke had placed guards around all his family and ordered Lucky to stay close possible. Over the next month, everyone was jumping at every little thing. Robert had the WSB and every government agency he knew on the case. Lord Death was still a big mystery. Helenas death went unnoticed to about everyone. Except a lone dark figure who arrived at the Cassadine Mausoleum late one night. The figure laid a single blood red rose on each members crypt. Stopping at Helenas a voice said, I promise you. Michael will suffer for what he did to all of us. The plans we set in motion will be carried out. As the stranger left, the sun was beginning to rise just behind the Mausoleum. It turned almost everything blood red. I thought you would approve, said the voice. Dad. We have to stop this. I dont know about you but I will not spend the rest of my life jumping at every little sound. Lucky said walking down the stairs. Im going out. Luke was about to protest but couldnt. Lucky was right. It has been a month and no sign of this Lord Death. He almost started to wander if Ruby was just pulling his leg. Lucky took Liz to the movie. Across town Alexis had left her office late and got into the car. She put the key into the ignition and then it exploded. The exhalation could be heard from blocks away, besides Alexis four other people were killed. Hello. Luke answered the phone just minutes before the explosion. Wheres you son? You should not let him out of your sight. came a cold voice. Luke yelled into the receiver, but nothing. The caller had hung up. Luke was so frustrated he pulled the phone off the wall and threw it. He ran out without telling anyone where he was going. Luke went after Lucky before something happened. He was a block away from Alexis car when it exploded. His heart dropped. The thought that it was Luckys car made him sick. He stopped on the side of the road and stood starring at the burning rec. Looking around he found the bent plate from the car. He looked at the numbers and cursed. Alexis, you didnt deserve this. Robert pulled up and saw Luke. He walked over to his friend and asked. What happened? I got a phone call. The caller said I should not let Lucky out of my sight. Driving to go after him, I saw the explosion. Rob it was Alexis car. Luke said handing him the bent plate. Alexis funeral was a small affair on Cassadine Island. Stefan had arranged for her body to be placed with the other family members. Jason and Stone came along with Sonnys other men just in case. Luke was not taking any more chances. Two people he cared about were dead because of him. He could not help but wonder who was next. Chapter 4 Return to Secret Past |
