| Introduction - A note from the author: A while back I wrote a story called Goodbye Valentine. It was suppose to be something other then what it was and I used an idea I had about a story to end it fast. A few weeks ago, something happened in my life to bring back that story. GH has never looked into Lukes drinking. They play it when things get rough in his life and he has no control. Im going to do look into that or try to. What Luke will do will shock and most probably anger his fans. Im a fan but I see this part of Luke deep within him. It is there but he control it. What if he has no more control? What would happen if Luke lost his foothold on life? We are going to find out. This story, like my others, is set in the past. I might change if Lucky ever comes back. I find it hard to write for a person that isnt around any more. I still see him as he was before he left. A boy close to becoming a man. This goes back a little further then that and time will end up crossing just a little. I dont remember where people were and who was on the show when Laura took Leslie and Lu to Switzerland. So, Im putting in people that I like and that would fit this story. Most of this is from my dark demented mind... Boy, would I be dangerous if I had the guts to do half of what I think about sometime. LOL The Monster Within Prologue: Are you sure about going there alone? Luke asked Laura as they stood in the airport terminal. I will not be alone. Tom is coming with us and I would hate for Lucky to miss school. Besides, you are not allowed to leave town remember? Laura said kissing Luke good bye one more time. Do you have to remind me? Im just grateful that Cassadine didnt try to pin the shooting on the kid. Luckys prints were on the gun just as clear as mine. Luke said as he pulled Laura into his arms. I am too. You look after him for me, Laura said. I always do, Luke said, still not ready to let her go just yet. You will call me when you land? I will and as soon as you can, come see me. Ill be missing you terribly by then. Laura said as she pulled out of his arms and picked up her carry on bag. I will and dont worry. Ill be just as bad, Luke said with an evil smile on his face. He bent down and picked Lu up in his arms. You be a good girl for mommy. He said giving the child a big kiss good bye. Lu just smiled and kissed her daddy back. Bye, mom, Lucky said as he hugged her good bye. I love you, Laura said hugging him back. I love you, too. Lucky said. Those were the last words that were said before Laura and Lu, with Tom helping Leslie, boarded the plane. Luke and Lucky watched as the airplane made its climb into the sky. You hungry? Luke asked Lucky after the plane was finally out of view. Yeah, how about BBQ? Lucky asked. Boy, you have a one track mind, Luke said with a smile on his face. The two of them headed to the parking lot and to the Pink Caddy. After leaving Elis Lucky sat in the front seat of the Caddy playing with the radio. He was trying to find some good music as Luke drove home. He stopped on one station listening to a soft rock song play. Suddenly, the song was cut off and the DJ broke in. We are sorry to break into your midday cruise but this was just in. Flight 587 to Europe, carrying 500 passengers and staff crashed just off the coast of New York. The coast guard is on the scene now and as soon as we get more information, we will pass it on to you. The DJ then played another song. Luke had stopped at a red light and stayed there. His heart was in his throat and he was having trouble breathing. The flight that went down was Lauras. The light was green now and people were honking at him to move but Luke didnt hear them. All he could think about was that his Angels might be gone. Chapter 1: Months after the crash, Lucky walked around, lost and without direction. He still couldnt get over the fact that they were gone. The plane had landed in the ocean and about half of the people survived. His mother, sister, and grandmother, werent part of those survivors. Their bodies were found and buried weeks after the crash. Tom Hardy lived, but not much longer after the crash. No one knew what happened but it was thought that it was mechanical failure. Lucky could care less about what caused it. He just wanted his mother and sister back, but that wasn't going to happen. They were gone and not even Luke could bring them back. It might have been better if Luke hadnt crawled into a bottle and refused to come out. Lucky wanted to mourn with his father but Lukes way of mourning was to not face it. He spent most of his days drinking or passed out. There wasnt a time Luke was awake and sober. Lucky would have gone to his Aunt to get help but she was with the Count and Lucky wasnt going to go crawling to the Cassadine family. Sonny was having trouble with the law and didnt have time for their problems. Ruby was sick lately and Lucky didnt want to worry her. So, he dealt with Luke himself. At first Lucky figured that after Luke ran out he would sober up. It didnt happen that way. Luke ran out and tried to get more alcohol. He was even going to take the Caddy. Lucky was so afraid that he would crash and kill himself that he hid the keys and said he would get the liquor for Luke. He still does and his father still drinks. It wouldnt be bad if Luke would just drink and pass out. It was the stuff in between that got to Lucky the most. The house his mother loved so much was trashed. It was one of the first things Luke destroyed on his binge. Not one piece of Lauras memories was left. Luke had gotten them all. Lucky cleaned that mess up with tears falling down his face, wondering why Luke couldn't have left something for him. He didn't even have one small figurine that his mother loved for keepsake. Luke didnt stop there. He ended up trashing the house five more times before Lucky gave up and stopped cleaning. He lived in his room and only came out just to leave the house. He ignored the surroundings and how everything looked. It was easier that way and didnt hurt as much. Lucky could pretend that things hadn't changed and the Laura and Lu were in Switzerland. Besides trashing the house and sending him on liquor runs, Luke went through mood swings that Lucky couldn't predict or control. Most of the time, Luke spent his time crying over the loss of his wife and daughter. Lucky sat by him them and cried with him. It was the only time he felt like they were dealing with the loss. They werent, but it felt like it. It was the other Luke that Lucky was afraid of. He showed up at odd times and Lucky lived in fear of that Luke. He was angry and out of control. He cursed everyone in sight including his son. Lucky hated that Luke and blamed the bottle for him. He knew that was where that Luke was coming from. He just didnt know how to get away from him. He still loved and needed his father, but that man wasnt around any more and that was the problem. Lucky was close to losing it himself. He was failing school and he didnt care. The teachers gave up on him a few weeks ago. He was told that he was going to have to take that year all over. Take it over! Lucky thought sarcastically. 'If only I could stop them from leaving or join them, I wouldnt be in pain right now' He would be happy and with his mother. He would even take Luke with him. That was what he really wanted. They all would get what they wanted and that is what counted, didnt it? Lucky stood looking at his home and debated about whether or not to go in. He knew Luke was home but what Luke would it be? The man he loved the man feared, or the man that hurt? Lucky didnt know and he was tired of trying to figure it out. He took a deep breath and headed in. The place was the same. Nothing changed. Okay, you just have get up the steps and get to your room. Lucky thought as he walked. Suddenly, Luke was there standing in front of him and Lucky knew instantly which Luke it was. It was the mad one. The out control one. The one Lucky feared and hated. Hi, dad. Lucky said hoping to get by and to his room. It didnt work. Luke just stood there glaring at him. Where did you hide it? Luke asked in a cold voice. Hide what? Lucky asked not knowing what he was talking about. Lukes hand came up, hitting his son right across the face and he snapped. Dont lie to me. You know damn well what I am taking about. Dad, dont. I dont know who you are... Lucky tried to talk but Luke ended up hitting him again. Tears filled Luckys eyes as blood oozed out of a split lip. I dont, he cried. That is when the pain started and Luke kept hitting him. Lucky suddenly hated his father. His mind couldn't remember the good times. He just wanted the pain to end. Suddenly, it did and Lucky slipped into the blackness of his mind. Chapter 2 Back to Monster Within |
