| Chapter 2 Luke came down stairs later that day and was shocked to see Lucky in the kitchen. "You hungry?" Lucky asked as he dropped another egg in the skillet. "Yeah," Luke said looking at his son with a puzzled look on his face. "I know. You didn't think that I would be home. I thought sense me and you are not going to tell mom about Helena. I figured the rest is between us as well. I might not like what you did to her but I figured it is between the two of you. I had nothing to do with me and I can live with it," Lucky said as he went on cooking. "You sure?" Luke asked him. "I'm sure," Lucky said. "Okay, lets eat. I'm staved," Luke said and for the first times in weeks. Lucky and him sat down and really talked to each other. Luke knew they had a lot to work over but at least it was a start. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Helena sat in her sitting room thinking about the night she spent with Luke. She wished there were going to be more like that but first she had to get rid of the little trap he was married to. Helena hated Laura for having the one thing that Luke never gave her, his heart. She was going to find away to win that over from her and last night was the being. Ari walked into the room right then and looked at his companion trying to hide his feelings toward Luke. He knew that Helena thought more of Spencer then she told him and that bothered him. Helena was everything to him and he was willing to do anything for her. He just wished she realized it and forgot about Spencer. "Madam?" Ari said finally. "Yes, Ari," Helena asked not looking in his direction. She knew she would have to get rid of him soon but right now Ari did fit her needs for the moment and a little while longer wouldn't hurt. At least he filled Luke's place until she finally possessed him for good. "I have the pictures of last night and they are on their way to Mrs. Spencer. Do you want anything else?" He asked her. "No. You can leave. I will call you when you are needed," Helena said and she waved him off without even looking at him. Ari looked at her like a lost puppy but left the room without a word. He just hoped that Helena's plan didn't work and that life with them would go back to normal soon. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It was just about suppertime when a messenger arrived with an envelope for Laura. She signed for it and opened it in the living room. She looked at the contents in shock and complete disbelief. The note with the pictures read. Laura, darling. Your husband is a grown man. As you see, he needs a lot of attention. If you can't give it to him, I will. Helena. "No. He couldn't," Laura said trying not to believe what her eyes were seeing. "He couldn't what?" Leslie asked as she walked into the living room. "Luke!" Laura said her temper getting the best of her as she handed her mother the pictures. Laura then stormed over the phone and dialed home. "Spencer's?" Lucky's voice came over the line a few moments later. "Where is your father?" Laura asked as she tried not to yell at her son. She knew he wasn't to blame for all this but right now she was angry and it was very clear in her voice. "Dad isn't home. He went shopping," Lucky said hearing the anger in his mother's voice, "What's wrong?" "I'm coming home and tell your father that he better be there," Laura yelled and she slammed the phone down hard. Lucky looked at it for the long time and tried to figure out what was going on. Only one thing came to mind but how did she find out? The answer was clear. Helena must have told her but what did she tell her? What version of what happened was dumped on his mother? Luke come in with an arm full of groceries He took one look at his son and knew right way something was wrong. "What is it?" Luke asked as he dropped the bags on the kitchen table. "Mom called. She is coming home and she didn't sound happy," Lucky said. "Helena," Luke said. "Helena," Lucky said. "Okay, I had to tell her sometime. I just hope she will listen to me," Luke said, "before she shots me." "She'll listen. Mom might mad right now but after you tell her everything. I bet she would understand it," Lucky said as he crossed his fingers behind his back for good luck. "Kid. I wish I was as sure as you," Luke said and he started to put the food away. He was dreading the conversation with his wife and wondered how things were going to work out for them. He hoped that Helena wouldn't destroy the only good thing that he had going for him. If she did, Luke knew the old bat was going to pay for it dearly. If he lost Laura because of the past, then Helena was going to loose a lot more. Laura arrived later that night. Lucky took Lu and his grandmother upstairs and left his parents a long. As he walked, Lucky looked at his mother and said, "All I ask is that you here him out before you go off half cocked." "What does that mean?" Laura asked trying to keep her voice down. She was upset but she didn't want to upset Lu any more then it was necessary. "It depends on you. Why are you home?" Luke asked her. "I got this today," Laura said and shoved the pictures at him. "Tell me, Luke. What have you been up to?" "Laura, it isn't exactly how it looks," Luke said. "So they are real or fake?" Laura asked. "They are real," Luke said and he sat down on the couch looking defeated and broken. "Why? Why in Gods name did you sleep with that witch?" Laura snapped. Her temper was growing again and she found it hard to keep it in check. "Because she was going sleep with our son and I would do it again to keep her from hurting him," Luke yelled. "What?" Laura said not expecting this from him. "Sit down, Laura. I have a lot to tell you," Luke said and told her everything. His past, Lucky running away, and about Nikolas. He figured he would if she was going to be mad at him. She might as well be upset about it all. "Why didn't you tell me before this?" Laura asked. "Tell you want that our son hates us? That your other son almost died? Or about me?" Luke asked. "All of it, I am your wife and I should have been told about it," Laura said. "I know but I couldn't look at you and tell you about Helena. As for Lucky, it had nothing to do with you. He was mad me and I had to deal with it," Luke said. "No, Luke. It was our past and Lucky had no right to know it. As for you and that old bat, I hate her for doing that to you. I also know that she wants me gone. Well, I'm not going anywhere. I am upset and mad at you right now but I will give over it. I just need a little time," Laura said. "I didn't expect this. I thought you would walk out and never come back," Luke said. "Luke, you didn't walk out when I told you about Nikolas, Stavors and yes Stefan. I know you wanted to and I am amazed that you haven't killed them yet and I'm grateful for it. If my secrets did not destroy us, Why should I let yours?" Laura said and she walked to her husband and pulled him into her arms. "Don't get this wrong but don't touch me. I don't want her on you," Luke said and he tried to pull away from her. "She isn't on you. She can't control you and I will not let her," Laura said and she kissed Luke with more passion that she had ever done before. She understood better then anyone what he was going through at the moment. She dealt with that guilt after Stavors and it took Luke's love to get her past it. She was going to do the same thing for him. "Angel," Luke pleaded. "What?" Laura asked as she pulled away from him. "I thought you were mad at me," Luke said a little confused on how fast she was switching channels on him. "I am still mad at you. You should have told me about my son getting shot and my younger son leaving home but we will talk about that later. Right now, I am going to prove to you that Helena couldn't destroy what we have together," Laura said and she kissed him again and this time Luke kissed her back. Laura's love started to push the old feelings away and the love he felt for her came back stronger then ever. The two of them headed up their bedroom and spent the night in passion.
