Chapter 26

A week after Steven's visit to the Quartermaine house, tragedy struck the Spencer family once again. Lucky had just come down from his room above Kelly's and greeted his aunt with a warm smile. "Morning, Aunt Ruby."

"Morning, kid'o. You feel like helping out before school?" Ruby asked as she slowly rubbed her arm.

Lucky saw this and asked in a worried voice. "Are you feeling all right?"
"Yes, I'm fine. I'm just a little tired." Ruby said and started for the kitchen. Lucky had just turned around to open the dinner when he heard a crash just inside the kitchen. He ran in and found Ruby on the floor.

"Aunt Ruby?" Lucky asked is voice and face was full of worry and fear.

"I'm all right. Just help me up," Ruby told him and she tried to get up but pain shot through her chest and she collapsed again.

Lucky knew something was wrong so he rushed to the phone and called 911. As Lucky got back from making the call, Ruby was passed out and her breathing was shallow. "Don't die on me," Lucky begged as he tried to figure out what to do to help her.

The only thing Lucky knew to do was keep her warm and wait for help. He felt helpless as he watched his aunt' s breathing slowly get weaker and weaker. It didn't take the paramedics long to arrive and they soon took over her care. Lucky stood back and watched as they worked on Ruby. A hand suddenly touched his shoulder and Lucky looked up to see Steven standing near him. "What happen?" Steven asked as he looked down where Ruby lied on the floor.

"She just collapsed," Lucky said his voice full of pain. Steven had no words to say to the teen. They just stood there and watched the paramedics work on Ruby. Finally the men stopped and looked at the group with very sad expressions on their faces. "We are sorry," one man said, "She is gone."

Steven placed a warm gentle hand on the teen's shoulder but Lucky shoved it off. He walked away from the men and where ruby lied dead.
"Why?" He screamed. "Why her? Why now?"

"Lucky, I'm sorry," Steven said trying to calm his brother but Lucky didn't want to be calmed. He wanted to destroy something anything to help the pain go away.

"Sorry? Sorry?" Lucky yelled at him. "I'm so sick of hearing I'm sorry. I'm sorry your dad is gone. Well, I'm tired of death and I'm tired of hearing I'm sorry," Lucky yelled at him. Then with one swift movement Lucky grabbed the nearest chair and let if fly. The chair crashed threw the window shattering it to millions of pieces.

"Lucky?" Steven called out as Lucky then ran from the diner and vanished from sight. Steven was torn from staying to look after Ruby or going after Lucky. Steven got help in the form of Bobbie. Who arrived not long after Lucky ran out. Steven looked at her with a grateful expression on his face. "I'm glad you are here."

"What you do now?" Bobbie snapped at him as she looked around at the dinner with hate filled eyes.

"Not now," Steven snapped at her. "Listen I'm only going to say this one. Ruby had a heart attack and is now dead. I would sound more compassionate but Lucky was here with her when it happened and he blew up. I have to got find him before he hurts himself. Please look after her for him," Steven begged.

"Ruby?" Bobbie asked her voice was now full of pain and then she spotted the medics who were just bringing her out of the kitchen.

"Yes, I'm sorry," Steven said. He really meant it. Ruby was the first person that excepted him as he was and in the very short time he knew her. Ruby left a lasting expression in Steven's life.

"Yeah, right," Bobbie said coldly. Steven wanted felt the need to tell her off, but right now Lucky was more important and so, he went off to find his younger brother.

Lucky ran from the dinner and kept on running. He let his legs guide him and strangely he ran right to Luke's. Lucky stood in the middle of his father's club circling around like an animal trapped in a cage. "Why you die on me?" Lucky yelled at the room. No answer came and this out raged Lucky even more. He got so mad that he started to trash everything in place. All the rage he felt come spilling out. The longer his fit went on the more rage Lucky let out. All that Helena did to him come to his mind and his father and Ruby's death came to mind as well. All of this feed Lucky's rage and he let it flow. By the time he was done, Lucky was empty and totally lost. He ended up in Luke's office hiding among the destruction crying for not just Luke and Ruby but for himself.
Steven showed up an hour later. He knew from the look of the place Lucky had been there. He walked around the bar looking for a sign of the kid. He then headed into the office to look around. The destruction was the same there as well. Everything was broken and thrown everywhere. Steven was just about to walk out when he spotted two large blue eyes looking at him from behind the over turned rack.

"Lucky?" Steven called out.

"What?" Lucky asked his voice dry and scratchy from all the crying he did.

"All you all right?" Steven asked as he slowly moved towards the teen.

"Yeah, I'm fine," Lucky said his voice full of sarcasm.

Steven ignored his tone of voice and slowly moved towards the teen. He sat on the rack and looked down at Lucky with a loving and concern look on his face. "You feel better?" he asked as he looked around at all the mess.

"Yeah, I feel better. I'm sorry about the club. I guess it comes out my portion of the profits?" Lucky asked him.

"Forget about. We will fix the place up and it will be back the way it was," Steven said.

"No, it won't. Dad's dead and nothing is ever going to be the same again," Lucky said coldly.

"Lucky, I know you hurting and now with Ruby's death. It has to be even harder on you. I just don't what to say to make it better," Steven told him.

"No one can make it better. Ruby is gone and so is Dad. I just have to find away to live with it, but one good out of this," Lucky told him.

"What?" Steven asked.

"I found peace about Helena. I don't hate her or feel anything about her. I can look at the events and not feel anything," Lucky told him.

"That's good. You are not better but your getting there. Come on; Let's go find Bobbie. I have feeling she is worried about you and might need friend right now," Steven said as he got up and held out a hand to the teen. Lucky took it and they moved through the club together
