| Chapter Six Lucky woke up the day of his birthday exited about all that could happen. He quickly got dressed and headed down to the breakfast table. He sat during the entire meal waiting for someone to say something, but no one did. Stavros had ordered that Lucas birthday wasnt going to be celebrated at all. Nikolas hated to see his brother in such pain. So, he went with Stefan to check on some things on the other side of the island. It was Helena that handed Lucky the letter from Luke and even arranged a little treat for him in secret. Why didnt anyone else remember? Lucky asked her as he ate his cup cake. Lucas, It is hard for us to celebrate your birthday. Mikkos is dead because of your father. We are keeping you because of your mother not him. Stavros misses his father and is taking his anger out on you. Im the only member of the family that can defy him. she told him pulling him on her lap. Lucky started to cry and couldnt stop. She started to rock and sing to him. He was trying to figure out a way to make Stavros like him, but couldnt that moment. He wanted his father and mother even more. Suddenly, the memory of the song and a voice came back to him. He looked up at her with wide blue eyes. Helena stopped sing and asked. What is it, Lucas? You picked me up and hurt my parents? he told her in a small but demanding voice. Lucas, I didnt hurt your parents. Your memory is all messed but because of the fever. I rocked you all night one night and that is where you get me singing this song to you. The rest was just from you dreaming. Helena softly lied to him. Lucky looked up at her and wondered if it was the truth or a lie. He didnt know, but he laid back into her arms. He didnt want her mad at him. Stavros was bad enough. Luke was pacing back and forth in the living room. Laura had baked a small cake. She was determined to act like nothing was wrong and that Lucky would walk thought the door any minute. Luke looked at her with grief stricken eyes. Angel. He isnt coming and you know it. They arent going let him go and right now Im to much of a coward to face the consequence. he said. Youre not a coward. You just love Lucky too much to risk his life on any plan of action. I know you will think of something and I do know he isnt coming. He most probably having a larger party right now and doesn't even miss us once. This cake is for us and will just pretend we are with our son. she said with tears streaming down her face and head toward Luke. He held her close to him and let her cry. His heart was slowly breaking itself and silently the tears fell from his eyes. Chapter 7 Return to Cassadine Revenge |
