Chapter Thirteen

Stefan and Nikolas walked into the Spencers prison. Laura was in shock to find
Nikolas standing there. She hadnt brought herself to ask about him because the
loss of both her sons would have killed her. She forced herself not to think
about him. Nikolas walked up and said. Hi, mom.

Laura got to her knees and pulled him close. Luke watched from the side. He was
happy that she could at least meet him. Stefan walked up to Luke and handed him
the tape and his late fathers day present. You cant look at the tape until
after were gone. This time belongs to Nikolas and his mother. Stefan said.

Luke sat down at the table and unwrapped the present. He couldnt believe the
painting and he read the card. He had trouble stopping the tears. Dad, Here is
me and my horse, Smokey. I named him from my memories of you. I dont remember
what your like but I can never forget the way you smelled. I love you and I know
you are in prison for something that you didnt do. Stefan told me about the
Cassadines helping you get out. I promise to be good and wait until you come and
get me. I love you and hope this will keep me close to you. Your son Lucky.

I told him that you and Laura were in prison for something you didnt do and
the Frank Smith set you up. He believed me and at least he stopped asking about
you all the time. He still thinks about you but doesnt think you dumped him on
us. I want you to write him a letter. Stavros burnt the painting he gave him.
Lucky tired to get Stavros to love him but he just turned his back on him. He
needs to know you still care. Ill make sure he gets it and only Lucky will read
it and no one else. Stefan said handing Luke the some paper.

Luke sat down and wrote this Letter:

Lucky,

Im glad you finally know the truth and you are old enough to understand. I miss
you and you are in my thoughts everyday. I hear from your mother all the time.
She loves you too and you are what keeps us both going. I dont know how long
this will last but we are going to get out. When that happens we are coming for
you. I love your painting and never thought of you as artist, but you are my son
and you can do anything you want. I wish we could be together but that isnt
possible right now. I hope you are getting along with your brother. I heard he
is a good kid and Im glad to hear you are being good.

I know that Stavros doesnt like you, and try to keep out his way. He doesnt
hate you but me. I took your mother from him and he hates me for it. I hope you
understand this and if not ask Stefan. He knows the real story. I want you to
listen to Stefan and Alexis. They are the ones I trust and not Helena or
Stavros. The Cassadine compound is safer for you then Port Charles. My sister
would love to have you but Frank Smith is too powerful. I know this is hard for
a boy your age to understand and Ill tell you the whole story when we get out.
You can show me your horse and we might even go riding. Im not that good with
animals but you can teach me.

Lucky, I know you arent going by your real name but there is reason for that.
Frank has many friends and he is looking for you all the time. Ill keep you
close to me but hidden. He wouldnt expect to find you with people like the
Cassadines. Im glad you didnt forget who you are. I was worried about that
since you were so young when this all happened. So, no matter what anyone says.
You are my son and you are a Spencer. I love and want you with me. Ill keep you
close to my heart until we are together.

Your father, Luke.

Luke handed the letter over to Stefan and he read it. Ill help him understand
about Stavros and you. I will watch out for him and so will Alexis. We have
since the day he arrived. I gave him that horse and he wanted to call him
Spencer but you know what Stavros would say about it. Stefan said.

I know and you better be looking after him. Lucky is the only person keeping me
here. I will get out and wipe most of your family out if anything happens to my
son. Nik over there is the only safe one. He is part of Laura and she would
never forgive me. Luke said coldly.

I know that and so does my family. Stefan said.

While Luke was writing to Lucky, Laura was getting to know her son. Im getting
good in my class and Lucas isnt that far behind me. He might even catch up with
me soon. We play on the cliff about the house but dont worry. We dont go up
without Uncle Stefan and Cousin Alexis. They will not let us. We ride most
everyday and Lucas almost beats me in races. He would if Sheba didnt hate to
loose. Nik told her. He was trying to get her to know him and Lucky. Uncle
Stefan says that I can come and see you any time I want. Grandmother doesnt
care and as long as Luke doesn't make trouble then I can. I will bring you
things that Lucas draws when he isnt watching me, but it is going to be hard.
He remembers most of his drawings. I miss you and so does he.

What do you like to do. I know Lucky likes to draw but what about you? Laura
asked.

I love my horse and I love spending most of my time outside. Lucas tries to
keep up with me but he doesnt like it outside. Nikolas lied to her. Lucky
could keep up with him if Stavros would let him heal. I love to read French and
I love to read stories about the Cassadine family in Russia.

Im glad you like your studies and they are important. Maybe when this is over
you, me, Lucky and Luke can take a trip to France and you can show me the
world. she said.

They talked for about an hour or more and when it was time for them to go. Laura
had a hard time parting with him. He promised to come back and then Nikolas was
gone. Laura sat down and cried. Luke sat beside her and placed the painting on
her lap and gave her the card. Then he told her what Stavros did and what Stefan
told Lucky. She looked at the painting while Luke put in the tape. They watched
as their son came to life for them for the first time in years. They watched as
Lucky ran, rode his horse and worked on his assignments. He didnt laugh much
but he did look healthy, but the scar on his face bothered both of them. Luke
was going to have to ask about that but all kids have accidents. He couldnt
have guessed the truth and when the tape ended Luke looked at his wife and said.
He looks just like me and he is a lot like you. He isnt happy but he is alive
and maybe my letter will help him cheer up. Im glad you got to see Nikolas
because I know how much you miss him and we got to see our son for the first
time in years. Im not giving up but at least he is alive and I can live with
that. Luke told her.

He is live but he is sad. They are hiding something but I dont know what and
Im afraid to find out. Nik told me that Lucky doesnt like the outdoors. I know
our son and he loved them. He is hiding from something and that might be the
reason he is sad. I dont like Stavros. He was cruel to me and Im afraid he is
cruel to our son. Laura said sadly.

Stavros hurts Lucky and Ill kill him. Laura, that is promise. Luke said. He
looked at the painting above the fireplace and smiled an evil smile. Stavros
likes this painting doesnt he. Luke asked pointing to the one above the
fireplace.

Yes. I hate it but he loved it. Laura said with a smile knowing just what Luke
was thinking.

Luke grabbed the painting from above the fireplace and threw it in. Laura
started the fire and Luke placed Luckys painting where the other one used to
be. They sat and looked at the fire and replayed the tape of Lucky.
