| Chapter Six Monica walked up to the Spencers door and knocked. Laura opened greeting her with a smile. Monica Reed. Come in. We have been expecting you. Laura said with a smile. Monica could tell Laura wasnt sure about her at all. She was trying to do what was best for Lucky and nothing else. Monica smiled at her and said, Mrs. Spencer, relax. Im here to help. Im sorry its not you. This whole thing has been hard on all of us. I dont know who is bothered more Lucky, Luke or me. Laura said sadly. This isnt easy for anyone. Im going to help all of you. I know from the doctors that you and Mr. Spencer still hope that Lucky will see again. Im not telling you to give that hope up, but you might want to think about what if things dont change. Lucky is going to need to live either way and he is going to need help, Monica said. I wont say that to Luke. He will never give up hope. That might be the only think keeping him together, Laura said. Ill take you to Lucky. Hes in his room. Monica followed thinking, Dont worry Luke will get through this. That is we are here. She asked Laura to let her meet Lucky alone. She walked in and saw him sitting in the dark listening to soft jazz music. Turning on the lights, Monica crossed the room and sat on the edge of the bed. You must be from the hospital. Lucky said tilting his head a little to the right. How did you? Monica asked him. I know my mothers perfume and she told me about what time you were coming. The clock just struck one not long before the door bell rang. Lucky said with a sly smile. Thats good youre learning to use your other senses to replace the one you lost, she said. What good does that do me? Im still blind. Lucky said getting a cold look on his face. You dont need your eyes to see. You can do that with sounds, smell and touch. Im going to show you a world that you never even knew was there. Monica said pulling him to his feet. The next day Tess walked into General Hospital looking for Dr. Monica Quartermaine. She walked up to the nurses desk and asked. I have an appointment with a Dr. Monica Quartermaine. Can you page her for me? Tess asked Amy. Sure, When she calls who can I tell her is here? Amy asked. Tess Johnson. she replied. While Tess was waiting for Monica to call. Audrey Hardy walked up to the desk. Amy! How many times have I told you these reports are to be done on Mondays not three days later. Your work is getting worse. Audrey yelled. Amy was about to speak when Monica arrived. Audrey. I have been looking for you. I will be hiring someone to help with the paper work. It will give you more time with the nurses and lighten their load as well, Monica said. Its about time. If Steve was still here none of this would have happened. Audrey said walking away. At least she didnt cut down Lucky. Monica, I dont know how long me or Bobbie can hold back telling her off. Lizzies death wasnt his fault and she has been taking her anger out on him and us. Amy said slamming the clipboard down. I know Amy. Please give her more time. She's been through a lot. Monica said. What about Lucky? He still sits at that house, doing nothing. Luke and Laura are still calling every doctor on the planet to see if they can help get his eyes back. Im tired of giving her time. Amy said walking away to answer the phone. Im sorry you had hear all that. Monica said turning to Tess. Thats all right. Is there anything I do? Tess asked her. No. Not unless you can turn back time and bring back a young girl and give a young man back his eyes. Monica said sadly. Sorry. Tess said. I am too. I didnt know Lizzie Webber but Lucky is a friend of my daughters and I hate to see him hurting like this. Amy is right. Audrey needs to stop blaming him for her granddaughters death. Lets go my office. Well go over your duties there. Monica said heading down the hall.
