| Chapter Twenty Four The sun was down and Lucky wasnt anywhere to be found. Everyone was looking for him even Stefan and Alexis. They both felt guilty for letting this go this far and was afraid Helena had made her fatal move. Lucky was safe but scared. He was trying not show it but he didnt know where he was. He thought he could find way home without any help but now he wished he would have stayed put. Lucky was in the worst part of Port Charles and he was moving slowly down the street. He was about to turn the corner when a hand reached out and grabbed him. What have here? I think Im going to have fun with you kid, the drunk voice said. Lucky was scared and tired to think of what Caine was teaching him but he wasnt ready to do any this on his own yet. Lucky gulped and tried to take a few steps back. The hand grabbed him again and demanded, You aren't going anywhere. I said I wanted fun first and then we'll talk about letting you go, the voice said. Kermit and Caine stepped out of the shadows and said, I dont think so. I am the one that is going to have fun. Kermit slammed a fist right into the drunk's stomach. Caine let Kermit handle him and went over to check to see if Lucky was hurt. Lucky had stepped back and tripped over something lying on the ground. He landed on his backside and sat there listening to the sounds around him. Lucky tried to figure out who was fighting. Caine kneeled down beside him and spoke. You shouldnt have left by yourself. Caine reached out and pulled Lucky to his feet. Lucky knew it was Caine from the sound of his voice and let the Sholin Priest pull him to his feet. Im sorry, Caine. I know that, but Helena stopped and talked to me. I just wanted to get away from her. So, I just left, Lucky told him trying not to cry. You could have really gotten hurt if Kermit and I hadnt shown up. You have to wait until you know more before doing this again. Lucky, I know it is hard to understand this, but you cant act as nothing has changed. You are blind and most probably will be for the rest of your life. I can help you learn to live but you have to meet me half way. Dont go wondering off without someone with you, Caine said and guided him to where Kermit was standing. Kid, you have half the town looking for you. Lets get you home. Your mother is worried to death, Kermit said. ~~~~~~~~~~ When Lucky walked into the Spencer living room. He was bombard with hugs and kisses. Then when everyone discovered he was unharmed the lectures came. Lucky, what were you thinking? Laura asked, him as they sat down on the couch. "I wasnt, Lucky told her. Helena showed up and I thought I could find my way home. I was wrong. I didnt mean to worry you but hate being like this. I have tired to learn to live with this but I cant. I want my eyes back and want Lizzie alive, Lucky told her and started to cry. Laura pulled him close and let him cry it out. She was glad that this happened because this was first time Lucky cried and showed a real emotion about being blind. Bobbie and the others left the room to give her time with him. They stepped out on the porch to talk. Lucky, Laura said when he finally stopped crying. You aren't going to see again and Lizzie isnt coming back. We can't change anything that happened. I know this hard but we have been through a lot together as a family and we will get through this, Laura pulled him closer. We have found people to help you learn to live blind and give you the tools to dream again. I heard what those girls said and they are wrong. You arent a freak or ugly. Your scars arent that bad and they will heal in time. You are more than good looks. They are the ones who are blind if they dont see that. Yes, we feel sorry for what has happened but we dont pity you, she told him. Yes, you do. Im nothing. I cant get dressed without having you hang my stuff in total outfits so I dont look like a fool. I cant read, work on computers, or even walk down a street any more. I got lost coming home from Rubys. Mom, what am I good for? Lucky asked her. Nothing. Lucky you are worth more to me and your family than anything we own. I would sell everything to give you back your eyes. I cant and your dad cant. He called every doctor on this planet and got the same answers. You will learn to read and walk down the street. I dont know about your computer, but they might make one for the blind. You have brains the only thing that has changed is that you can't see, Laura told him. I dont know. I hate feeling helpless, Lucky said. I know and we dont either. Lucky, when we heard about the train wreck and you werent to be found and they told us about Lizzie, I felt like some had shot me in the heart. Your father got to his knees and begged for God to find you alive. We spent four agonizing hours waiting for word on you thinking that maybe we would be planning your funeral. I never saw your father fall apart like he did during that time and he didnt relax until you were brought to GH. I dont care about your eyes or the scars. Im glad you are alive. I know you miss Lizzie but Lucky she saved your life. I wouldnt have you without her, Laura told him. Lucky sat and starred blankly at her. He never heard her talk about the wreck. They avoided talking about it and Lizzie. He spoke up. I keep remembering the last seconds. I still remember how she felt and smelled. There is a picture in my mind of that sun set and at night I dream about the wreck. I hear her scream my name over and over but then the pain hits and I wake up, Lucky said and leaned against Lauras shoulder. Oh, my God, Laura whispered gently rocking him. I figured you didnt remember anything. I guess we should have asked. How about going to her grave tomorrow? You might find away to let go, Laura asked him. Lucky nodded his head and moved even closer to her.
