Chapter 5

Carly walked down the docks, bodyguard in tow, thinking about Courtney.   She hoped if she walked around here she would be able to track down Courtney.  She had been looking for her all morning.  Why did she act so strangely when she said Sonny's name?  Sonny.  She thought her thoughts drifting towards her dimpled don.  Why do I always loose my mind when I'm around him?  I told myself, No carly we won't take less this time.  But just seeing Sonny I turn to Jell-O.  What is with me? She finally spotted Courtney sitting on a bench.  She quickened her pace and plopped down next to Courtney.

"Mind telling me why you ran out on the girl who not only provided you a bed for the night, but also kicked some major butt?"  Carly asked jostling Courntey out of her thoughts.

"Your never going to let me forget that you helped me kick some punks butt are you?"

"Nope.  So spill girl.  Cuz I know your hiding something."  Carly started.  "True we just met last night, but I already consider you a friend.  And with me those come usually never."  Carly finished, a little bit sadly.

Courtney noticed the sadness in her voice.  "How come Caro?"  She asked.  "Your such a great person."

Hearing that Carly gave a laugh.  "Weren't you listening to the stories I told last night?  I'm far from a great person."

"So?  You didn't do such great things.  I'll give you that.  And even though to other people they might seem "selfish" your intentions were good and they were always for someone else."

"You know, I heard once intentions don't matter..."

"Ah, now where did you hear that?"

"From my husband."  Carly said hoping to see a change in Courtney when she said Sonny's name.  She was rewarded with a nervous shift.  "So you going to tell me why you got like that when I mentioned Sonny?"

"What are you talking about?"  Courtney lied.

"What are you talking about?"  Carly mimicked.  "I'm talking about that when I said Sonny you got as nervous as a cat.  Wanna tell me about it?"

     "No."

     "Fine."

     Silence

     "Tell me about it."

     "No."

"Must have been mistaken Courtney.  I asked before now I'm demanding."  Carly smiled.

She wanted to tell Caroline, she really did.  But Courtney wasn't sure if she should.  After all Caroline was Michael's wife.  They were estranged, yes from what Caroline had told her, but still...  She wasn't ure if she wanted Michael to know yet that he had a sister. She wasn't sure that he'd accept her and that's all she wanted.  She knew that her "father" has a very strained relationship with her brother.  Not that she could blame her brother for it.  Their father both left them to feed his gambling addiction.

"Woohoo!"  Carly said waving her hand in front of Courtney's face.  "Where did you go?

"What?  Oh yeah.  My, my look at the time its getting late."  She said as she got up from the bench only to be pulled back down.

"You ain't going nowhere sweetie until I find out what's going on."  She said in a no-nonsense tone, that left no room for arguments.

      "Fine.  Well, it's like this...
