Some Facts About the Blind on Campus and Elsewhere

• There are 11 blind people on a campus of approximately 11000 individuals so they so they up 0.1 % of the general student population.

The gender composition is as follows :

•  Three  (3) men
• Eight (8) women

The blind on the UWI Mona campus are all actively engaged in professional life and all of these enjoy active life.

• One blind person who attended the University has gone on to active politics, namely Senator Floyd Morris.
• The Office of Special Students Services handles the individuals with disabilities on campus.
•  Louis Braille developed the the Braille system which after being blinded as a child  by an anvil.
