| A Confession (Neil's POV) | ||||||
| I was actually startled by Bernard's revelations about his crush as a little boy; being gay-bashed as well as being humiliated and called a "sinner". I woke up the next morning, feeling refreshed. Refreshed because I knew I was able to soothe and pacify Bernard again. He's gone to work at his recording studio; I might drop by later on. I asked him if he was OK. He told me that his work with the rest of the members of New Order had to be done. I agreed. Throughout the years, I've found out by experience that Bernard was the more frail one. A sensitive and quiet boy since he was a child, his manners haven't changed much. He's matured, but, nonetheless, the boyish qualities still shine. Sometimes, those boyish qualities make him incredible vulnerable. I'm able to witness that vulnerablity not only through his songs, but through him personally, as well. That frailty is what makes him Bernard Sumner. Those tears that he sheds, the nervous, unsure expressions on his face, the shy and sensitive manners of his; I love him for what he is. If he wants to confide into me a painful experience, I'll always be there for him to cry on. I'll always be there to soothe him and relax him. He needs reassurance that he is loved and that he is worthwhile. Perhaps more than others, but that's what makes him special to me. I can't stop loving him, nonetheless. |
