Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does your company offer?
  • We offer the information you need to buy leased access on your local cable system. On this website you can order our three publications which give you a basis to successfully request and get leased access to most cable systems. You can also order reports from our national database for specific market areas, so you'll have contact info, an average rate, and subscriber counts. Please note, we charge a fee for this information. If you have a budget exceeding $50,000 per month, we will do the placement for you as a turnkey project. If you budget is under $50,000, we can act as your consultant on an hourly-rate basis.
  • What channel would my program air on?
  • It varies from cable system to cable system, but channel position is much less a factor than you might think. In a universe of 200 channel cable systems, there's a lot of "channel surfing" (BBDO found the average Male viewer changes the channel every 17 seconds!); if you're airing a :30 spot you're not getting the audience you're paying for anyway (they're off surfing), if you're running a half-hour infomercial this audience may just land on your show. You create your own audience with the content of your program; today's viewer is constantly looking for content that is OF GREATER INTEREST! So whether your program airs on channel 2 or 200, leased access is a valuable delivery system into thousands or millions of households. Bottom line; it pays off!

    • Can I air my regular :30 spot?
    • Sure, you could, however we don't recommend it. The minimum leased access purchase is your spot might get a little burned-out. A better use of leased access would be to 30 minutes, so, produce a with a lot of detail about your product or service, testimonials from users, etc. 30 minute show However if you don't have a budget for this, we recommend producing a 2-3 minute piece and looping that into a 30 minute window. If you want to save money on airing your :30 or :60 spot, or make your television campaign more effective, we have other creative ways of helping you, so feel free to email us at [email protected] for more!

    • Can I air on several cable systems or just one?
    • Your program can air on as many cable systems as you like. In fact you could start your own network full-time if you wanted and had the capital.

    • What does it cost to produce a half-hour show?
    • A survey conducted by Response TV magazine reflected the low-end for a half-hour is around $100,000, but this is using Hollywood standards. Depending on how the piece is done (film vs videotape, number of locations, etc.) a half-hour can be produced for as little as $5,000. And if you wanted to produce a 2 or 3 minute piece and loop it, production costs aren't a huge factor.

    • Can foreigners or foreign companies purchase leased access?
    • Sure. There are no residency restrictions. Leased access is a great way to enter the U.S. market for a direct sales product.

    • What is "Direct Response" or "Direct Response Marketing"?
    • Direct Response is differentiated from traditional advertising by the fact that the value of the advertisement is measured soley by the results the ad immediately brings, rather than building "image" or "brand awareness" as in traditional advertising. Have you ever viewed a television commercial and afterward wondered what the advertiser was advertising, or what the advertiser wanted you to do by viewing the ad? This type of advertising is an "image" ad; very hard to quantify for results. Contrast this with an infomercial, which frequently summarizes the strengths or benefits of the products, offers a price, and gives viewers a specific offer and means to order. This "call to action" is the hallmark of a direct response tv advertisement, and this type of advertising is what we specialize in producing.

    • When does my program air?
    • Depending on the cable system and the level of leased access demand, your show can air in prime-time, on weekends, pretty much wherever your budget will allow. And it's a fixed-position, so you'll know when the program is airing and will be able to promote it.

    • Who is leasedaccessinfo.com?

    • Our principals have owned and operated an ad agency and tv studio which produced over 200 infomercials as well as full service content and media placement. Leasedaccessinfo.com was created after the parent company was sold to a public corporation. Our experience with leased access goes back to 1993 when the first rules were drafted at the FCC. Since then, we've been asked for input by both the FCC, FTC, and major lobbying groups, and we've successfully placed programming on every multiple cable system operator (MSO).
