Well lets talk about week 3 pured foodsyummy. I was excited to get here, now I can have eggs and mashed potatoes and things like that. I got my chopper out and I was ready. I did some chicken in the sealed pouch from the store and it did not set well at allok no chicken for me. One night I tried putting spaghetti in the chopper and again it did not set well. I started seeing a pattern, I was not doing well with food, even chopped, the only thing that was setting good with me was mashed potatoes and creamed soups. I asked the Dr. when I went in for my 4-week check up (which by the way I was down 30 pounds) and he said it should settle down. After another week of feeling like crap all the time I started throwing up and they told me that would be a sign that I was over filling my pouch, but knew I wasnt overfilling. There were times that I barely ate and still it made me sick. This went on, me getting sicker and them telling me it should go away. I now started have trouble with my bowel movements and was told to take Milk of Magnesia (MOM) and see if that helped. I took it and still no relief so they (being the Dr.s staff) told me to take another dose and if I still didnt have any relief by the next morning they would want to see me. Well after 3 doses I finally went so I called the Dr.s office and told them that I had went but was still feeling really crappy. By the 15th of April nothing would stay down and I started to throw up blood. I called Jackie right away and was so scared. Her and Dr. Thomas had already left for the weekend and Roberta told me to take more MOM and she would get with the Dr on Monday, but that if I got worse to come to the hospital and there was a surgeon on call to handle Dr. Thomass by-pass patients. I laid around most of the weekend and went to work on Monday for my first full day back at workyeah right! Jackie called me from Dr. Thomass office and told me they wanted me to come take another gastrograph and then come to see Dr. Thomas, and they wanted me there right away. Well I went in and had the gastrograph and still did not have a leakagain woooohoooo! Went to see Dr. Thomas and he was still concerned so he set it up for me to see Dr. Simmons and he would do a upper endoscopes. They did that the following day, April 20, 2004 and found that there was a stricture and they stretched the opening leaving my pouch. They also found that I have 2 ulcers, one before the pouch and one past it. They prescribed Prevacid to help the ulcers heal. I have to open the capsule up and dump it on my tongue to take ityuck. I went back for a check-up on Wednesday, April 28th and Im feeling a lot better. Told the Dr that if I could go to the bathroom without MOM then I would be healed. He said as I start to eat normal foods again that would happenwell see. I weighed, and 7 weeks post-op I have lost 40.2 pounds!!!! I still have days that Im not quite up to par but they are getting easier to handle and fewer and fewer.
