I met with my primary care provider that same afternoon and got the copies of the tests they had run.  I also asked them if they would write a letter of medical necessity that Jackie could submit along with my paperwork to the insurance company.  Kathy told me that once they receive my medical records they would write the letter for me.  She explained that the test results showed I have Infiltration of the liver that causes the liver to not function properly, so I have to lose weight, another piece of ammunition.  She said that it appears that I meet 3 criteria for having Metabolic Syndrome and that she would document this as well, yet another piece of ammunition.  I explained to her that any help they can be would be greatly appreciated because one way or another I was going to have the surgery.

Boy you think Im not excitedon January 9, 2004 I called and scheduled my Psychiatric work up with Dr. Mehta.  I will be seeing him on January 21, 2004.  After I hung up from Dr. Mehtas office I set right to work setting up my work up with the Dietician, Rhonda Avery.  I will be seeing Rhonda on January 28, 2004.  I cant wait to get all of this done so we can submit to the insurance company for approval.

I also had to go to Dr. Wilsons office to get hubbys test results, so on the way to her office we picked up my medical records from Dr. Saha (an old Primary Care provider).  While I was there at Dr. Wilsons I asked for a couple of things.  First and foremost since I have no energy I wanted a B-12 injection.  They were happy to give and boy did it really make a difference.  They also gave me a prescription for the B-12 and syringes so that I can get them weekly at home.  I also after talking to Cathy asked for a prescription for Nicatrol Inhaler. They gave this to me as well.  We talked again about them writing a letter of medical necessity now that they have my records from Dr. Saha and I should get that in the next week or two.  I picked up a copy of my medical records that they had on me so now I have a complete set.  I will take these to Dr. T the next time I have to go to the clinic.  I plan to get the prescriptions filled and start them all on Saturday.

The things I do to get readyon January 10, 2004 I started the inhalers to quit smoking.  I thought this was suppose to be good for melol.  I had an allergic reaction to them and ended up going to the emergency room on Sunday evening.  I developed some irritation and strain to the tendons in my chest wall.  So needless to say I will be finding another way to quit smoking.

On January 13, 2004 I made the second of what will undoubtably turn into many trips to Bond Clinic.  I went in for my chest X-ray and lab work.  I stopped by Dr. Ts office and dropped off the copies of my medical records.  While I was there they went ahead and set up my appointments for the cardiology and the pulmonary work ups.  I will be seeing them both on February 3, 2004.  So with any luck at all I should have all my evaluations done by the first week in February.  And then we all know what that meansthe battle begins with the insurance company.
