LESSON PLAN -- RESPECT
(3 to 5 class periods)
Upon completion of this unit on
“respect” the students will be able to:
Ø
Define the qualities of respectful behavior while using
correct vocabulary terms relevant to such behavior.
Ø Demonstrate an understanding that respectful behavior is an essential quality to building good character.
Ø
Demonstrate an understanding of the many facets of
respect: Respect for others, property,
different opinions, rule of law, and for oneself.
Read the opening poem about respect. Brainstrorm a short list of what George
Washington Carver is trying to communicate in this poem.
5. Closure:
Re-read the poem by Ernest
Fitzgerald. Emphasize the concept that
“respect” is an essential element for a person who wishes to achieve
“happiness” and a sense of “inner
peace.”
6. Evaluation:

reflecting respectful behavior.
