· Match antonyms
· Illustrate antonyms: Have students use index cards and write antonyms (one on each side of the card) and then illustrate pictures for each antonym.
· Match compound words

· Match contractions
· Match homophones
· Fill in the missing letter or words (either a worksheet or a laminated sheet). Examples: letter- Y_u put trash in the tr_ _ _ can.; words- I am _____ years old.
· Copy words with a certain characteristic from a story (example: contraction, end in –ing).
· Illustrate compound words. Write the word and then draw 2 illustrations (one for each part of the word).
· Illustrate homophone words. Write the words and then draw 2 illustrations (one for each word).
Grammar Activities

Do a grammar worksheet

Punctuating with pasta: Use pasta to insert
punctuation marks.

Using prepared laminated sheets (large print)
with missing punctuation, use milk caps (or other
suitable material) with the appropriate “stop sign” on it.

Do Mad Libs
· Sterofoam Coffee Cup Activity: They are easy to label and to replace. For example: two cups, one labeled nouns and one labeled verbs and they have about 15-20 words and have to decide which cup the word goes in... Good for lots of things: period & question marks, math facts, complete & uncomplete sentences, etc.

· Use the “Phonics Phone” (curved PVC pipe to hear what is being said)
