Buddy Reading

 

The “Buddy Reading Center” allows a student to practice their reading skills with a buddy. The students are able to help and support each other when needed. This center also allows for social interaction (example: how will the reading be divided).

Teachers need to model how to:

·        Use and store materials

·        Work quietly with a buddy

 

Materials

·        Books

·        Response sheets

 

Activities

·        Read a book with a buddy

 

·        Write about the book that you read with your buddy

 

·        Retell the story to each other

 

·        Prepare a short paragraph. Have students go through it and highlight the 5 W’s.

 

·        Following Directions: Students read a sheet and follow directions. Example: Draw a face in circle 1. Color in circle 2. Leave circle 3 alone. Write the letter “A” in circle 4.
