Too Close For Comfort

Leaper Beware...The Future You Alter May Be Your Own

When Dr. Sam Beckett leaps into the middle of a men's encounter group, circa 1990, he meets...Al?

Not the holographic Al from the near-future, but a younger, soul-searching Al, beating his naked chest in mock-tribal quest for his primitive nature!

It all seems pretty funny to Sam-except for the fact that his mission could make or break the Quantum Leap Project...for ALL time.

My Two Cents...

Number three on my three favorite Quantum Leap novels.

If you want to buy me, just give me a book that gets deep into Al's personality and this book does that with grace.

We have the "past" Al that has to deal with so many problems in his life and gets closer to this young man without knowing that it's actually his best friend. We also have the "present" Al that has to deal with the fact that his best friend sees him in an embarrassing phase of his life, and the reality that if Sam takes one wrong step, he might change his history for the worse by preventing him from coming to the project. And in the middle of all of that, we have Sam that has to deal not only with the mission that he leaped for, but also with one Al that doesn't want the help of others, an Al that he just can't ignore and not help, and one Al that doesn't like the fact that Sam talks with his past self, and doesn't tell him what's really bothering him.

In one sentence - All three plots are interesting and the novel sweeps you out of your world and into the world of Sam and Al.
