Here's that little island.  This is taken from our great campsite (of which we don't have any really good pictures), looking out at low tide.  This is shortly after our arrival... about 11 a.m., Saturday.

Don't be fooled... that ground is moving with all sorts of sea life.

I forced Leanne and Petey out to a jut of land directly across from camp - about 100 meters away.

It was a good start to our exploration of tidal pools.

It's nice you can't tell how ashy my legs really are.

Petey was fascinated (and confused) at all the tiny crabs that would scurry about when you moved the rocks.  He would have caught one, I'm sure - but Leanne kept warning him about the pinching.  And in customary Petey fashion, I wanted to put a crab on that dawg's head... but Leanne intercepted that one too...

Where is the fun to be had?

Walking around tidal pools is tough business.  Here we came across a big, rusted metal... uh... floaty thing?  I have no idea what this thing does, but it apparently escaped from someplace or something, as I don't think the ocean coughs up big, rusty, salty balls (often).

It was quite a journey to get out to it... it was a couple hundred meters away from camp.

No, I'm not an elf.
Remeber that little island?  Well, we decided to walk around it and this was the backside (ocean side).  It was FABULOUS, if not a bit scary - the tide was coming in.

We did see a dead sea lion pup that was crushed against the rocks... but I'm happy to report that Leanne was NOT allowed to photograph that poor beast.

Yeah, I'm fat.

Here's a starfish grotto.  These were all over the place surrounding that backside of the island.
And the tide came in.  From that same spot at our camp, here's high tide... though it's not the highest tide.  I missed that due to sleep that overtook me when we sat on the beach to read.

It was the best sleep I got the entire weekend.

Back at camp... Leanne climbs a tree to manipulate the rope that will suspend our foodstuffs during the night.
This is the closest we come to a camp picture.  The site was sooooo beautiful - yet we didn't photograph it.  In the background, you can see our tent.

We both got too much sun that weekend.

We both realize just how much weight we have gained over the past 8 months of knowing one-another.

Petey just wants another strawberry newton.
