Texas  Native Pepper The chilitepin peppers are often found in Mexico.  Birds love to eat the peppers.They grow on mostley rocky surfaces and are very hard to find because the are hidden in other  shurbs.  The chilitepin pepper was adopted as Texas'  official state native pepper in 1997.   The chilitepin pepper is known to be one of the hottest peppers.
