It is an interesting building to
me because it shows how other people used to live their lives in Mansfield.
It shows pictures of people who used to live in Mansfield and what they
used. It also had a desk, quill, and awards from the old Mansfield High
School. This building helps me to remember how great and historical Mansfield
is.
The building I'm doing for school is the Mansfield Historical Museum and Heritage Center. It was built in 1895 for Dr.W.B. McKnight. At first, it was N.B. Ward Drug Store until 1938. Next it was Sells Grocery until 1965. In 1940, Mr.James McKnight purchased the second floor from the building and changed it into apartments. In 1984, when McKnight retired, the Mansfield Historical Society moved into the old three room office space. Mr.James McKnight willed to our City of Mansfield in 1986. It then was soon purchased by the Mansfield Historical Society in 1997.
