This college was founded in 1870 by John C. Collier. The first session opened in 1871. It was the first college in Mansfield. In 1877, Collier built a two-story brick and frame house for his family. Five small rooms on the second floor served for female students and teachers. By 1878, Collier had arranged the outstanding teachers. The main building was burned in 1889 the house still stands and became a historical landmark in 1984. Now the house became the Blessing Funeral Home.
