SIR THOMAS BROMLEY : Birth: 1530 Death: Apr. 12, 1587
Lord Chancellor who presided over the trial of Mary Queen of Scots and died as a result of the consequent stress.
Cenwalh of Wessex, English Monarch. King of Wessex, reigned AD 643-672. Remains of his bones are mixed in the chests above the choir of the Cathedral. Identification of the contents of these chests is impossible, however, because during the English Civil War in the 17th century, Parliamentarian soldiers threw the original chests down to the ground and smashed them open. The bones were then used to smash the windows of the cathedral. At the restoration of the monarchy, the bones were gathered up and put into the present mortuary chests.
EDMUND CROUCHBACK : Birth: 1245 Death: 1296
