| Sacrifice for Sanctuary 8/9/03 I love how seawater makes my hair coarse and sticky So I cant run my fingers through it I love how the salt dries on my skin making it stiff And tough like canvas I love how the sand gets in my bathing suit So its scratchy and unpleasant when I walk I love how the water reflects the sun So I get sunburned quicker I love how the waves push and pull me over So I get cuts on the bottoms of my feet I love how the ocean gets in my mouth Making it taste grossly salty for hours I love how the currents drag me so when I emerge from their hold I have to trudge back to my stuff a quarter mile away I love how the seawater stings my eyes Giving me a temporary squintnblink disease I love how I hear bits and pieces of conversation as I lay on my towel Analyzing what the topic of conversation may be I love how the bugs are attracted to the SPF So I am constantly swatting around I love how peaceful the ocean is How safe I feel I love how the waves lull me to sleep And I never want to leave |
