My Sacred Place

A cool breeze whispers against my hair
It is quiet and serene, at my sacred place
The soft grainy sand under my toes gives me a feeling of comfort and belonging
My lungs breathe it in deeply
The tang of salty air fills my nose
The water recedes into low tide
The sun is bright and clear

There are no shadows
Brilliant colors, magnificent blues and greens
Sparkles dance across the water
The calling of seagulls fills my ears, along with the rhythmic crashing of the waves.
The faint sound of people parlaying on the beach drifts to me

There is a camera in my pocket
But no photo could ever
Capture this same image
This landscape that I see before me
On Mother Earth

The air is fresh, as if no one has ever breathed it before
How many other people have stood here like me?
I feel at peace. My mind is free
Im so grateful that this place is here
This is my sanctuary
