Motions Uninterrupted

Walking the Earth in all of
these motions uninterrupted,
I wonder
if I have passed in and out of lifetimes,
for I have certainly
slipped between moments
here and now,
where existing means little more than star dust....
I wonder
if the moon can fade from memory
as soon as the sun spreads,
seducing the sky,
can I disappear as quickly
if I just loosen my grip?
I wonder
if I'd only be a breath missed
between laughter,
blown away like a leaf on a deserted road,
or would I linger
for the next hundred years
on the tip of your tongue?
I wonder
whether my purpose was
smeared across the canvas of life
by a painter impassioned
or indifferent?
And if I remembered two days from now,
seeing you a thousand years ago
would the moment carry enough weight
to dig a heavy grave
for my cells, weary and worn
down by fear?
Walking the Earth in all these
motions uninterrupted,
I know
I am not the first to question
my place here.
