Savannah, Georgia
After reading 'Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil' our trip wouldn't have been complete without a visit to lovely Savannah.  We walked from the remains of Forrest Gump's Bench to places like the Mercer House, where the murder takes place in Berendt's famous book.  But Savannah's real beauty lies in the squares that decorate the town, filled with trees draped in spanish moss.
Williamsburg, Virginia
We spent a day in Williamsburg, touring a colonial town and all of its tradesmen.  I would have been more impressed if construction vehicles weren't everywhere, but we did go in the off season.  The man playing Thomas Jefferson who converses with the audience for 45 minutes was one of my favorite parts.
Monticello, Virginia
Our last major stop of the trip was Thomas Jefferson's beloved home, Monticello.  It was an interesting tour, packed with  facts.  After a stop at the  historical Michie's Tavern, we decided that we were ready to end the trip.  We hit up a few civil war sites on the way back to good old PA, then drove home to a happy reunion with our families, filled with the aroma of fresh baked pumpkin pie.  That alone made the whole trip worth it!
