Who are the Western Leaders?

The Western Family YMCA Teen Leaders Club was founded about 14 years ago by Mariet McCrumb (Current Advisor) and Kathy Schiffano (Advisor 1990-2000). They began with only four leaders. They advertised the club by managing Teen Nights and other Community Activities. Just about three years ago, we were among the largest clubs attending PACAA. Today, our size is still large, although our numbers have dwindled. We draw about 20 teens for our weekly meetings. Our weekly meetings start with opening thought/whip and business. Ater this, we do an activity to improve leadeship and character skills. We close with vespers (a time of silent reflection). The club has about 20-25 active members. Our old co-advisor,Kathy Schiffano, was promoted to Director of the School Age Child Care Centers in the Baltimore Area not too long ago. She now works as Asst. Director at the Catonsville Presbyterian Church Family Child Care Center. We donated about $1000 to Engine 11 Ladder 28 in New York right near Desiree's old house back around Sept. 11, 2001.
