Oven Style Caramel Corn


 

Large roaster of popped corn-put in 250º oven while making the coating

 

In heavy pan melt 2 sticks of oleo

 

Add:

 

½ cup white corn syrup

 

2 cups brown sugar

 

1 tsp. salt

 

1 tsp. butter flavoring (or vanilla)

 

Boil 5 minutes over medium heat, stirring constantly; remove from heat and add ½ tsp baking soda; stir well until frothy; remove corn from oven and pour this coating over all and stir carefully; put in a 250º oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes; dump it on the counter and spread it out to cool
