Buttermilk Brownies


 

1 cup butter or margarine

 

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

 

2 cups all purpose flour

 

2 cups sugar

 

1 tsp. baking soda

 

½ tsp. salt

 

2 slightly beaten eggs

 

½ cup buttermilk

 

1 ½ tsp. vanilla

 

In sauce pan, combine butter, cocoa and 1 cup water; bring to boil; stir constantly; remove from heat; in large mixing bowl stir together flour, sugar, soda and salt; stir in eggs, buttermilk and vanilla; add cocoa mixture; mix until blended; pour into one greased 15 ½ x10 ½ inch baking pan, or two 11x7 ½ inch baking pans, or two 9x9 inch baking pans; bake @ 375º for 20 minutes

 

Use Hershey brownie frosting
