The Fountain
"What If You Could Live Forever?"
Rated PG-13 for...eh, pretty much everything you could rate a movie PG-13 though...nothing extreme, fortunately, but there's still a few parts you need to do the hear-no-see-no bit for...

The premise of this movie is simple - man searching  for fountain of youth, let us scream "cliche" once again. However, despite my initial idea of the movie, it was not at all cliche, but extremely inventive - so inventive, in fact, that the movie was one of the most confusing I had ever seen. If you combine a brain surgeon for monkeys (you know, it seems like the plural of monkeys should be monkies...) with a sadistic monk-type person, a woman dying of cancer, a conquistador, a bunch of other monks, a bald yoga-doing star-gazing guy, and the Queen of Spain, you get this movie. And to make it even weirder, the monkey brain surgeon and the conquistador and the bald yoga-doing star-gazing guy were all played be the same person. Hugh Jackman, to be exact. And seriously, Hugh Jackman bald is something that just should not be done. That image alone will haunt me for the rest of my life. So. After having said "What the crap" about 100 times, the movie was over, and I left with a headache the size of the bubble that bald Hugh Jackman floated around in. But  the weirdest part about the movie was that suddenly - about ten minutes after the movie was over - I understood it. The exploding daisies really did have a point. Yes I know I'm confusing you. And I can't explain to you what I took from the movie - it's too complex. But it was something. Once you get past the initial shock of its weirdness,
The Fountain truly is a movie worth watching. But don't quote me on that. And one more complaint before I shut up about this movie. I hate that yellow block font they use on the poster and in the credits...

The Devil Wears Prada
Rated PG-13

Based on the book by Lauren Weisenberger,
The Devil Wears Prada stars Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep. The two can truly be called a dynamic duo, but my favorite character was the British Emily (played by Emily Blunt), whose sheer snobbery adds hilarity to the film. Great for a girls' night out movie, but I wouldn't call it a chick flick. Maybe. I don't know. It's good either way.

Over the Hedge
Rated PG

This movie is awesome. One of the absolute best kids' movies I have seen in years. You laugh, you cry, all that good stuff. Actually maybe the crying thing was just me because I'm weird like that...anyway, this is a definitely a family movie and adults can enjoy it despite the lack of adult innuendo in this movie. This is one of the few movies I would tell you to go ahead and buy before you watch it.

Cars
Rated G

Yet another awesome family movie and another triumph for Pixar. I definitely preferred this movie over Pixar's last endeavor, The Incredibles. Cars is full of clean humor and has a great moral

ERAGON THE MOVIE
-
WHAT DID YOU THINK?

Two Opposing Viewpoints on the movie Eragon
Eragon the movie is based on the novel by Christopher Paolini. Paolini began the book at the age of fifteen. Much controversy surrounded the book and the prospect that Paoline had plagiarized its contents from other books - the most glaring obvious borrowings seeming to be from Tolkien's Lord of the Rings and Anne McCaffrey's "Dragonriders of Pern" series. The book has been extremely popular, due in part to Paolini's writing it at such a young age, but has also been extremely unpopular. Now we have a movie. Do those who loved the book think that the movie did it justice? Here are two reviewers' opinions on the movie

Movie Musings
by Sophie

Though I have yet to see the Eragon movie, I'm leaning a bit on the side of those who hated it. I have yet to see a movie that was an exact replica of a book. Some have come close, like
To Kill A Mockingbird, and others have been horribly skewed in their movie versions (Ella Enchanted ahem ahem that movie should die). And occasionally we get those movies that are a bit better than their novel counterparts - Lord of the Rings, The Wizard of Oz, etc. But more often than not, books into movies suck. Pardon my language. But it's true. And I'm stating the obvious so I'll shut up now.
