| Ethan's first experience with corn on the cob -- YUM! | Gardner Eric tackling our "forest" | |||||||||||||||
| Dear friends and family, Another lengthy time since a Hunter family newsletter. Let's see if we can catch you up. Our big news is that we are now officials residents of Colorado. We moved at the end of July and have been busy trying to settle into our new home. So far we've cut down a dead tree, trimmed 3 other trees, removed popcorn ceilings -- and, oh yeah, we pulled down our suspended ceilings so we can raise them. We'll put a link at the bottom of the page with pictures of our house. And Laura is sure enjoying being in her own house -- empty as it is. She is excited to *slowly* create the home the way she wants it to be. Ethan is almost 11 months (on October 11th). He's really enjoying the empty rooms. He was quickly outgrowing our little apartment -- he'd been crawling for a while and, shortly before our move, learned how to use the furniture to walk. He's taken a few steps now and then and is is trying to muster the courage to try to walk. He loves clicking his tongue, playing with computers, and "reading" his books. Although he's starting to be a little more clingy, he continues to be our little outgoing "friend-maker" and truly engages everyone he sees with his smiles (which has actually been a MARVELOUS asset as we try to make new friends). For those of you who are interested, I've included a link below to his 6-month baby pictures. Eric's last few weeks in Iowa were packed trying to complete the projects he was working on. Unfortunately, the hurdles of university bureacracy prevented him from hiring his replacement with enough lead time to train her; in fact, he barely got her hired before the move. The transition to the Denver site has been interesting because he didn't immediately have an office -- and he actually won't have a real office until the building is completed in October. So every night when Eric comes home from work, he gazes longingly at the boxes filled with books, files, computer equipment that are stacked in our front room. But the time without all his gadgets is definitely giving him time to work on papers, conference presentations, and grants. In November, he will be heading to Austin for a conference. Well, I think that's all -- sure love you all! |
