Hunter Family Newsletter
March 25, 2001
Dear friends and family,

It's been a couple of months, so we felt it was time to write one of these again.  What's new with us?

The end is in sight for Eric.  The model should be completed within a week.  In April, we are planning to go out to NCVS, which is in Denver; Eric needs their equipment to get some measurements of the vocal system to fine tune the model.  Then he will just need to pump out the writing and ... HE'LL BE DONE!   We are both thrilled!

I have been called as the Young Women's president in our new ward.  What an exciting challenge!  We have a small number of girls, and thankfully they are all very patient with me as I'm learning the ropes.

This summer is going to be crazy for both of us.  Eric will be presenting a paper at a conference during the first week of June.  The first draft of Eric's dissertation is due on June 28th.  I have Girl's Camp during the third week of June and Called to Serve sometime that month.

July will bring Eric's dissertation defense.  The day his rewrites are due, we are heading out for Utah for my friend, Rachel's wedding on July 20th.  Then we'll head back to Iowa for Eric's graduation on the 27th.  Eric's family will be coming out to Iowa to spend a couple days with us before graduation.  And the McCrea siblings will come out for graduation and stay for a couple of days after.
This month's movie reviews:
Castaway
Most of you have probably seen this one.  We enjoyed it.  Laura didn't appreciate the man-against-nature, man-against-himself themes of the movie.  She left the movie in tears, determined to never let Eric go on any business trip.  Probably not the intended message.
Family Man
Although we enjoyed the movie, neither of us are sure what to think about this one.  It's hard to make any comment on this movie without giving away the story line.  No sex, light violence, light swearing.  Incredible camera effects.  We've decided that their use of a written explanation (to tell us what happens next) was an anticlimax.
